I know what you say, being bored easily I'm a picky watcher myself, dropping or not even starting half of my plan to watch shows๐ if I'm honest, this isn't the best drama I watched this year, but surely one of the better ones, one that I enjoyed watching without being bored much or losing interest after binge watching lost episodes like usual.
And yeah, PBG here writes wonderful reviews. ๐๐ป
Now you say it, I was wondering about that too. NYZ told Ruyi not to let anyone knew she used to be a SG, especially QZ as he hates them. This hatred is often because of personal grievance so when Ruyi was exposed I was exicted to see what's his reason for this feeling but he kept talking about their Heavens Path brothers and LS's father and I was like "Ok, they killed LS's dad but what they've done to you! You can't be more Catholic than Pope. His son is alright with it!!" ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ I was actually disappointed then. Now the truth is out...
I could see a family member being hurt then and thought he was nearer to them so he cared more, I couldn't see this revelation coming.
Really? I thought him older, tho I can't recall his face๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ I haven't seen new eps. did they have flashbacks of him?
I think NYZ said he's 30 once (it's max age for human MLs and FLs so he can't be older than that anyway), if we set QZ to be the same age or a bit younger, CM would be nearly a decade junior. They could make them maternal half-brothers easily and evade any surname plot hole.
What did he do this time? I was starting to feel happy with him and the princess getting along in 27-8 ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
I don't write long comment often since I don't dive that deep into shows and am too lazy to write but it feels good to share deeper thoughts now and then. I enjoyed reading your insights too, they seemed more professional than mine๐๐
Imo, AJTL story is in fact very linear but its characters are not so there's enough room for debating about them.

Ah, alright, I thought you meant something else. I feel if they didn't expose him in front of CY and didn't have CY meet YSS after that, there was a high chance of him develop real feelings for her along the way of manipulating her. Not only because she's a warrior girl similar to his shifu (read type) but because despite what he believes, his love for his shifu isn't much romantic imo and he has never really known love to tell the difference. But it's all in tatters now, we must wait to see what they'll do with it. Maybe he learn of YY's identity and will be matched with her.
By the way, I never thought him having double personality, asked that question in sarcasm ๐ ๐but thanks for explaining it. It's appreciated.
Ye, there are very few donghua with memorable romance, most MLs in this cultivational ones are having more or…
The names are so alike that I as a non-fan who hasn't got anything with them can't help but confuse them sometimes. I thought they're some specific genre of manhua. Thanks for explaining, better a friend correct me than remaining ignorant.๐๐
I watch new episodes on the next day so no 31-2 for me but I've been wondering about something this week and I wanted to talk about it. That's the similarity between Ruyi's devotion to the Empress and LTG's to her.
Ruyi was sold by her dad when she was but a child with only a sugar animal as the last gift (and even that was taken from her) SGs were harsh and abusive to her, they only wanted to turn her into an emotionless, thoughless killing machine with no independent thought or opinion.
Then came The Empress who for some reason took a liking to her, showed her kindness, took her as a human being with feelings and thoughts and in result Ruyi was extremely devoted to her. In her eyes TE was this flawless celestial being who deserved every good thing in the world and her wishes were Ruyi's command. In the world no one cared about her beside being the perfect assassin she was, TE treated her like a person.
Now, single-mindedly and with absolute dicisiveness she's taking revenge on everyone even remotely related to her death, sparing none. Although she's only now starting to see TE wasn't that perfect and had her flaws like any other normal human beings(though I'm sure they were more than a jerk of a husband and an unfillial son).
At the other hand we have LTG who was born out of his mom's short affair with a lowly man and even didn't have a proper name until 16 (if we say his uncle gave him a name 6 yrs ago after his mom's death). His questionable paternity was and is public knowledge and a source of great ridicule and humilliation for him. He too was an alone and unloved child, his mom was cold and distanced with him, he was badly treated by everybody in the palace and his cousins mocked him all the time. TE asked Ruyi to teach him and even though Ruyi wasn't the kindest of shifus, like the more paternal loving ones, she too was the first person in LTG's life who gave a d**m about him. She beat him but still cared for him and nurtured him so he came to believe her to be some invincible superwoman who's able to do everything and can't be defeated. Also the one whose opinion matters the most (remember when NYZ told him he's prostituting himself to NC Chu, his biggest worry was that the princess will be informed that he isn't sleeping with a married woman so she wouldn't look down on him)
Like Ruyi, only now he's beginning to realize his shifu is a human too, she can be injured and upset or happy, however being younger and more impressionable when he was put into her care and of a different gender, he's developed a more distinct complex towards her that he thinks to be of a romantic notion.
All in all, even though the way they show it or behave about it is pretty different, I think Ruyi's obsession with TE if not stronger, is no weaker than LTG's with her.
Most cnetz seem to love him because he is handsome. He definetely gets less hate compared to liu yu ning. Cnetz…
I don't know Chinese and am not up to use MT to surf their sites so when it comes to nets' opinion I'm at loss. Acting wise neither are great movie star sorts imo, though LYN is more mature. About looks it's funny that some criticise LYN for his rounder face and some say CHS's face is too thin and small๐

Also, they could set their ages so they could've been from different fathers, I remember ChaiMing being around the same age though.
