Go East is a fun show overall! The flaw for me was the FL, but like I said, not everyone felt the same way about her. Other than her, I thought it was a decent show.

Yeah, I see your point about Filter. I thought she went too far as well. But my view is that he was able to forgive her because on self-reflection, he realized he was too intense in his pursuit of her alter egos so she felt she had no choice but to take drastic measures. Plus in the beginning she thought he was a shallow jerk, so her actions wouldn’t affect him that much. I think maybe the show could have spelled out the apology/forgiveness a bit better, but overall thought the show did a pretty good job giving them both character flaws.
So funny! Impressed how long he keeps it up before getting confused. I’d be lost immediately 😅 Also a great clip for learning Chinese number hand signs!
I'm waiting for a good time to watch UTS, what do you guys think about it? any other ones I should watch?
UTS is good, definitely recommend! And I’m someone who doesn’t typically like crime/police dramas, they’re mostly boring and predictable to me. But UTS was a fresh take on the genre with interesting characters.
My fave drama of his is Filter, which I found absolutely hilarious with a good heart behind the humor. Tan Jianci is great at comedy. But he’s great in all his shows, they’re all worth checking out. I think my least fave is Go East because I couldn’t stand the FL’s character but some people didn’t have a problem with her, so YMMV.
And if you haven’t seen him as Xiang Liu, definitely check him out in Lost You Forever. It’s a hard show for me to recommend, though, bc I LOVED the Xiang Liu character but ultimately disliked the rest of the show. It’s worth watching at least S1 to get to know XL. Outside of him, depends on your tolerance for frustrating angst 😂
I want it to come out too. I've watched every show where he's the ML, some more than once. I've started trying…
That’s an interesting idea! My interpretation of the scene was the same as yours. From what I know of the novel, that’s correct: XL was her true love, but her fears held her back. But the way the show changed things, I can definitely see the interpretation that she didn’t really love any of them.

I haven’t read the novel, but I’ve heard it’s much clearer that XL was her true love and she ended up settling for TSJ because she was too afraid to choose XL. She was waiting for XL to choose her but he couldn’t bc a) his obligations to his army (don’t get me started on that stupid army pointlessly throwing their and his lives away grrr) and b) he was never sure about her feelings for him and feared he was just a replacement for TSJ.
The show apparently changed a lot to make XL look worse and TSJ look better because they don’t want FL’s loving anyone other than the one they end up with, even though that’s the whole point of the original story - she loses her true love and ends up with the safe choice, it’s SUPPOSED to be a tragedy!
Anyway, the changes backfired for me bc they just made me feel like TSJ was stealing XL’s thunder and made me dislike him more 😂
Is there a day when the reuters r not heartbreaking?? 😑 I m tired of being sad!😓 N one day they gave lollipop…
That was her imagination, though, when she still thought he was nothing more than a traitor. He threatens people to keep his cover, but works behind the scenes to save them. As for the Qi victory, that was already certain bc the court wouldn’t send reinforcements. His “betrayal” wasn’t the cause of their deaths, they were already going to die either way. Even ZYH ultimately doesn’t blame him for the deaths of his family. He does have a bad reputation at the start, but he’s been up in the enemy territory the whole time before the story begins, so no one really knows what he actually did. If they keep it vague enough, I don’t see why they couldn’t choose to save him. If they end it with him dying falsely accused, that’s not justice and posthumously clearing his name doesn’t give it any less of a bitter taste. I don’t think I could watch that.

I like LMLMV too! It's a purely feel-good show, very relaxing when you need it. His voice is phenomenal in it, I listen to the OST all the time. And the proposal is my fave proposal scene of all time: so low-key and yet so sweet and romantic!

I love Filter, it's my favorite modern cdrama! The humor was exactly right for me. I've watched it twice and even made my husband watch it with me the second time. He doesn't watch cdramas but he was interested because he liked him in Sound of Silence - we were lucky enough to see that when it came to theaters in the US.
For most of his shows, I tend to rewatch his scenes. LYF wasn't my cup of tea either and I couldn't finish it, but I did watch all Xiang Liu's scenes. And then I couldn't stop watching clips on YouTube....
When I first saw him as XL, I remember I had to pause a scene and look up who he was because his acting impressed me so much. Funnily enough, my husband had the exact same reaction. He paused a scene in Filter to say, "How is this guy so good? Seriously, how??"

I really liked LMLMV, but it does need the right viewing mindset. It's a sweet, fluffy, warm-blanket of a show. It doesn't require super close attention, so it's a great choice to have on to help you get through a boring task.
The production team has filmed both possible endings: a happy ending and a tragic ending. They've prepared both…
I'm definitely hoping for the HE. An unjust execution is simply too bleak, especially with that cruel of a method. I want it to follow the novel, and I think ZYH's arc would be incomplete without it.
Is there a day when the reuters r not heartbreaking?? 😑 I m tired of being sad!😓 N one day they gave lollipop…
I've read the book and I don't recall him killing his own people, unless there's something I'm forgetting. He feels guilty about Pang Yu, but as Nan Yi points out, he was actually trying to save him in that scene. He's focused on saving his people, not killing them. I don't think he needs whitewashing, but if censorship requires it for a happy ending, then it shouldn't be too hard for them to do that.
I really want LHF to air soon. I m really tired of being sad due to dwtt reuters n it seems this sadness has also…
I want it to come out too. I've watched every show where he's the ML, some more than once. I've started trying to go back and watch some of his support roles (just finished Centimeter of Love), but not sure which one to choose. Not anything too sad, XL traumatized me enough!

Do we know it's an AU ending? I'm hoping it will end like the book did, with him calling out to her from the shore (biggest hope would be to actually get a shot of him unlike in LGIEF where we didn't even see the male lead), and then the special episode explains how he was saved and shows them happily married. Basically like the book epilogue, except I want the show epilogue to focus on them instead of minor characters - I didn't care that much about the princess and was disappointed she got an entire epilogue chapter instead of the main couple. If it's an AU/dream/what-if scenario, then I agree, that would be infuriating.

Happy that LHF finally updated their Weibo. Rumors say it might drop on 5.20. I just wish he had time to record…
Really?? That’s great news, I hope it’s true! I know it’s unlikely right now, but still hoping for a Hi6 appearance. Maybe he’ll have time as filming wraps up
I can’t afford most of his brands either. There’s Sprite… but I’m trying not to drink soda lol
Yeah I also like coke more, but Sprite is good too and I thought the Sprite with tea didn’t look bad. But I really do need to stay away from these sugary drinks…don’t tempt me, Tan Jianci! 😂
