Excellent reviews here, I agree with most of what you said! Reminds me I still need to watch AA/Growling Tiger. It would be interesting to see young TJC in his first meaty role. But it's so long and he's not the MC, so it's hard to commit, haha.

Yeah, one of the things that makes him so great to watch is how much he clearly loves performing. Paradoxically, he's kind of a quiet introvert in everyday life, but he opens up on stage and it's like an inner light comes on whenever he gets to perform.

He did a lot of Cantonese songs at Shenzhen in his solo concert tour, definitely check those out! I think the Shenzhen stop was my favorite of his solo concerts. All the concerts were good, but to me, Shenzhen had the best outfits, best performances, and best exclusive song choices.

His Our Dormitory appearances are good, and he's hilarious on Hello Saturday where he's been a regular cast member since 2022. Unfortunately, he's been appearing less and less as his schedule has gotten busier, but the episodes with him are great!

I like the song! I saw this news last night and thought it was so random, especially since I don't think Tan Jianci usually does OST's for productions he's not in. At least not at this stage in his career, not sure about earlier. But it being a request from the producer of his movies would make sense.

Didn't he say recently that the new role was challenging? With his skills, I don't know what would be "challenging" for him, but it's got to be more than a standard robot. If it really is a robot, there must be something complicated about it.

Oh dear, what's going on now? Are there more rumors smearing him or is it just petty fanwars? I try to stay away from social media and negativity, I don't get why people can't simply support and be happy for their faves instead of attacking others.

I actually didn't mind the side characters nearly as much as others did. But you do need to have a lot of patience with them. Totally agree that if you're finding them annoying, it's fine to fast forward or skip. Not the kind of show where you need to pay close attention to every scene lol

Yes, definitely check out his performances! He's an excellent singer and one of the best dancers in the world. Not exaggerating - he's actually won championships and continually works to improve. Filter is my favorite modern comedy! I thought it was hilarious, well-written, and TJC does an excellent job. It's pretty quirky, though, so some people didn't like it. But that's true of any cdrama, it's really up to personal taste, just pick what you're interested in and give it a chance. Other shows I recommend of his:

Love Has Fireworks - really cute slow-burn romcom. Don't expect a masterpiece, it's just a fun ride with excellent banter and chemistry between the leads.

Love Me Love My Voice - this show is like a warm blanket, pure fluffy sweetness. TJC plays a voice actor and sings a lot of songs, and it goes without saying that his voice is beautiful.

Under the Skin 1 & 2 - I don't like crime/detective dramas, but I liked this! It's a fresh take on the genre, and TJC's character is interesting and well-written.

Are You Safe - this is a bit more of a crime/thriller, so not sure if you'd like it. I'm also someone who gets scared easily and doesn't usually like thrillers. But I didn't find this show too scary, I actually thought it was fun. It's more of a comedy than "thriller", and even the gritty bits weren't too bad. Again, not a masterpiece, but entertaining.

Go East is all right, but probably my least fave drama of his. Some people liked it a lot more than I did, though, so again, it's a matter of personal taste. If it looks interesting to you, give it a try, you might like it.

He also has a movie, Sound of Silence, available on Viki. I was fortunate enough to see it in theaters in my country, and thought it was really good!

Thank you so much!!! As an international fan, I really appreciate this. And it comes at a time when I’ve been feeling down because the YouTube accounts I follow that subbed his stuff have mostly stopped posting and I haven’t found replacements yet. I’m learning Mandarin, but still a long way from being good enough to follow him without subs. The beauty of his voice was what motivated me to study Mandarin seriously in the first place, and he continues to motivate me to keep going with it. Someday hopefully I won’t need subs anymore, but in the meantime, I’m so grateful for your time and effort helping us international fans understand him ❤️

Yeah, why was the camera so far away? It’s hard to see anything. And we can’t hear them either, so frustrating.

I don’t remember him doing Imma Get It on Hi6, either, though if he did and anyone has a link, please share! I do remember he performed (debuted?) Dark Moments. There are a lot of performances on Hi6, but I don’t think he does his own stuff on that show very often.
