Person Song Zu Er
Idk how this might sound, but I really like her when (and how) she talks. It's like she’s the exact type of woman I would love to hear some gossip from.

Exaxtly what I said in my comment below somewhere. I think the 1st impression he gives ppl especially girls is…
Yes exactly, especially from the basketball court scene! It’s like he tries so hard to be seen as someone idealistic, but deep down, he’s just incredibly insecure.

He actually reminds me a lot of Qu Yi Peng from In Between. It's a shame that drama focused heavily on the toxic side of romance, whereas this show clearly doesn't, so I genuinely don’t understand why they are forcing this classic "phoenix man" trope here. (idk if its get better as im only on 7 ep)

Honestly, YGY is so unlikable (I’m on episode 7 rn). Also I genuinely don’t understand why almost every female character in this show is drawn to him. Is he supposed to be some sort of irresistible Casanova or what?

Ikr regeneration was a peak drama until the ending happened
Yesss and honestly, that’s C-dramas for you. They just had to try and make him look like a better man, or at least give him some sympathetic justification for his actions.
Honestly, if they hadn’t tried to redeem him, I would have enjoyed it so much more. He was such a beautifully unhinged character in the first half

Honestly, I feel sorry for Zhao Ling. He’s living such a difficult life... It feels like he dont live his own…
agree with you. in some episode prior to this, sanning has told FTY that they've became more of a collegue than lover and sadly rn, im getting that exact vibe.

Title Pull Strings
I usually don't watch xianxia because I find them pretty boring compared to OG donghuas.

Also I haven't watched Shixiong yet but for some reason, I keep checking out this page for PS and feel really drawn to starting it.

But seriously, what’s up with only releasing 3 episodes for day one?

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
I saw a very interesting take about ep 19 in Threads. This made me rethink about how I saw episode 19. And it…
i was thinking why ty acted cold in front of all but when they went back to the house she was showing more of a vulnerable sides of her in front of him. your last para on ty's acting cold make more sense now.

We usually start historical shows where the male lead is already introduced as a ruthless general or a cold court official. Typically we don’t get to see the hidden reasons behind their ruthlessness until much later in the series. Then a revenge-driven or carefree female lead or a reborn fl enters the picture, and the male lead finally starts to "become human." That seems to be the go-to trope for most historical dramas nowadays.

What makes this one so refreshing is that we are finally getting a show where we can witness the lead’s entire development journey from the ground up. We actually see the exact circumstances that shaped him into who he is. We are already 20 episodes in, and the pacing is still going incredibly strong. If the show maintains this quality until the very end, it easily getting a 10 from me!

Maybe I watched too many historical shows but I'm quite scared for Zhao Ling. He did work his way to the top but…
i think till now ty is not yet convinced with the way zl is moving, once she does we will see her calling shots more.

OMG, people are still talking about the 4 confession letters? Why not just look at the circumstances? Her man was put in jail and was on the verge of being completely destroyed. Bear in mind, this isn't like most modern dramas where women suddenly become independent wuxia fighters and start killing everyone. Her rise here depends entirely on her husband's rise. Plus, she loved her man way more than any desire for revenge.

Also, how could she even get justice against the Yu family with just those four letters? Without her husband, she is just a commoner. She had to play the long game. Protecting her man from the mess instigated by that Yu fooker was literally her only realistic path to survival, let alone justice.

And personally, I don't even think she calculated it that deeply anyway. She cared more about her man's safety than anything. After so long we finally got a drama where both leads are entirely devoted to each other from the very beginning, and people are still trying to find flaws in that? Too bad, guys. You are completely missing the point of their dynamic.
