I don't know why, but every time I see this Yake Bish and hear her voice, my eyes and ears seem to experience physical damage. Can't believe I have to watch her even more in the future eps! Yikes.

I don't know why, but every time I finish the daily episodes, I immediately come here and read everyone's pov. This drama has genuinely changed my outlook for the better. Ahhhh I love ittt

yk I actually struggle to watch traditional xianxia dramas(where in most they start as an high level immortal deity) because I’m such a big fan of donghua. In donghua we get to see the mc grow from absolute zero, slowly but surely maturing, evolving, and finally dominating the realm. I feel being part of that journey is so fulfilling.

After a long time I’m really getting that same feeling of donghuas from a drama. (Maybe I’m overly generalizing? or maybe I’m just loving it so much that I'm overhyping it?) but seeing the characters at their lowest points and watching them grow step by step is so rewarding.

glad I picked this up early so I can watch their righteous growth unfolding day by day every episode.

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
honestly now the more i think abt those previews the more they make sense this yu guy is in ganlin by ep16 so…
i agree w you, all i hope is in this run we get no misunderstanding and they communicate before making big decisions which from ep 18 might not seems to be the case.
also if you remember ml asked a very mature q to fl in the ep 16 prev, im suspecting if fl gives an ans that doesn't satisfy what he's (we all as well) hoping to hear he might go more turbo to become successful like you said.

I'm kinda happy that this Zuo before committing suii, she told Tingyun the truth about the Yu son.

Otherwise, I have a feeling that Yu fooker, to feed his ego (this fooker probably won't stand that she found happiness with a low-level smuggler/officer while he’s miserable with his own marriage), might go for FL to make her his or at least smth like making her miserable.

And if ML, like for circumstances as well, has to leave her for sometimes (speculating from preview), just like every other fooker who had courted FL to be for them (Zuo’s bro n Lu fooker), I suspect this Yu fooker will shoot his shot for her as well.

Big mistake watching the ep 15-18 previews all together ughh. 😩

The only saving grace to keep me distracted is that I have an exam this sunday so I can just binge the next six episodes on Monday. Hope things get clearer by then.

There’s been a bit of complaining lately about the ML being weak, new annoying characters popping up every few episodes, and the military arc being less interesting than the salt arc. I’ll leave the ML’s character for others to defend, but I wanted to give my POV on the other two points.

I think this military arc is the cornerstone they need to finally reach the capital(their main goal now) as a jaded, true power couple. When they first started this journey, they both lacked experience. The FL hadn't faced the harsh reality of commoner/country life yet, nor had she been forced to make heavy sacrifices to blend into these society. Thus she used her pre-existent technique to take that land which obviously backfired. Now dealing with these annoying new side characters will ultimately give her that necessary experience for reaching the capital.

As for the ML, I feel he originally lacked the true ambition to rise higher; he was mostly doing things just to protect his own people (which I loved), but it meant he still carried some of his old thug traits(which also i likes a lot). But I'm sure by the time they reach the capital, he’ll have evolved into either a true general or perhaps a court official (judging by that red official robe in the trailer).

Once they actually arrive at the capital, they are definitely going to face real, calculating villains and backstabbers (like Madam Yu, for example), rather than these minor pests who just attack them head-on. This current arc and these annoying characters ultimately will be the exact character development they both need to truly ascend later on.

Idk man, when was the last time I was this excited waiting up for a drama?
With 1/3 of the show being done, all I hope is they keep going at the same pace. If they do, it’ll be a very memorable one for me.

To everyone begging for the FL to get revenge on FYK, do remember that FYK doesn't actually love anyone. She first went after the 7th Fu brother, then shifted to Yu Jingxiu. She genuinely believes women can't climb the social ladder on their own, so she is treating marriage like a business transaction for a better life.

And for fl, the best revenge the FL can take imo is to completely ignore her. Instead of giving FYK any energy, the FL's real victory is taking a literal smuggler and turning him into a high official herself. That way, she achieves ultimate success on her own terms and gets a husband who respects and loves her for building his life. And for fyk, im sure fyk’s husband will definitely turn into a ref flag in the future eps.
