I wanted to love it but I didn't. I did enjoy it, but as someone who read the novel before watching the drama,…
A few things I didn't like (because I don't remember exactly everything from the novel): The change in the order of the events, in the novel made more sense. The added politics. I know the novel doesn't have much politics and they were very simple so they had to put more in the drama, however, I got bored and fast-forwarded the majority of it. They erased many people but I wanted to see Lady Pei (FL's stepmother) and Zhou Jingwan (FL's other best friend). The redemption of Ming Chu. I mean, she tried to get the FL kidnapped and so ruin her reputation. I'm not the kind of girl that forgives easily. The awkward-cute relationship between Zhou Jingwan and Lu Ting. The consummation of their marriage, they did it the same day of their marriage and were very sexually active, here they gave me their first time till episode 27 of 30 🙃.
I wanted to love it but I didn't. I did enjoy it, but as someone who read the novel before watching the drama, I couldn't connect in full with this story. They changed many things from the novel, some were good, like the ML's personality, but others were not-so-good (comment below). Don't get me wrong, I didn't hate it, I just couldn't help to compare the drama with the novel, I'm biased, don't mind me.
I am so glad someone feels similar to my reactions. I just could not get into the novel. I am not even tempted…
It's Novel Updates, a page with asian novels translated by fans, sometimes the novels are not complete, which is unfortunate because is more difficult to find them on other sites, but many of them are finished. Also, many translations are not-so-good, but at times you can understand it by context 🤠"Black cat/Golden retriever" is a tag given to couples with one of them being introverted or serious and the other being extroverted or friendly. I know the novel, I'm actually reading another novel by the same author The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage, and I'm enjoying it very much. Thanks for the recommendation ✨

Well, I've not watched the drama yet so I can say, but I really enjoyed the novel. However, if you don't like stoic MLs, then maybe you won't like it, the novel has the kind of "black cat (the ML) and golden retriever (FL)" dynamics. If you don't mind, yes, to me it was better than Marquis Mansion. Now, if Little Cardamom is not your taste, try: I’ll Be the Male Lead’s Sister-in-Law, is in NU. I'm new in cnovel land but I know the feeling when the novel you wanted to read wasn't good, so I hope this recommendation helps c:

I don't think this drama will air, the first comment is from 2 years ago and since then not been a single update, so I don't think so. Oh girl, I didn't even consider The prisoner of beauty, in NU the tag "rape victim becomes lover" was informative enough. But yeah, this novel wasn't good, you should read Little Cardamom (the novel of the drama Youthful Glory), the story is a lot better. You can find the novel in Mydramanovel c:
I need spoilers from the novel, I want to read it but this sounds more like business-oriented than romance, I mean, I don't mind if it's a story with a romance sub-plot, but I don't enjoy late romance, like, they are finally a couple and then 10 chapter later the novel ends 😒 How's the romance? Slooooooooooooow-burn or Slow-BURN? Angsty?
Something I really don't like is when in the novels the ML possessiveness reaches even his kids, I mean, I don't…
Yeah, later I didn't mind their antics but I still didn't like him (the ML), unfortunately, I stopped reading at chapter 355 😔 Why? I got bored and I felt like I was reading the same plot as the previous chapters just with some changes. Ngl, it hurt, I wanted to finish it but I was forcing myself to read it :c I hope you won't be like me and enjoy the novel ✨
YES! I get you, I have the same problem, that's why I started by first watching short-length dramas and when I didn't find good ones, then I started reading chinese novels ðŸ¤
Sure! Here are some dramas I highly enjoyed: You are my hero (FL is a doctor and ML is in the military) A Flower on the Continent (short length drama) Dramatic Self-Help Strategy (short length drama) Meeting You (high school to college drama) Grab Your Love (short length drama in republican era, the ML is not totally green flag but he's 1000 times better than other MLs of the same genre) Intense love (the ML is a doctor and the FL is an actress)
I'm at chapter 353 of the novel and I'm kind of bored, someone who has already finished it, please tell me, when it gets interesting again. Right now I feel like nothing new is going to happen, don't get me wrong, I was enjoying it very much but after chapter 320 I feel like I'm reading the same plot just with slight changes. I don't mind spoilers 👀
You're so sweet, thanks 🤠While you wait for this one, I recommend you Chef Hua, it's a hidden gem, it's a simple but cute drama, just don't watch it hungry because it won't help 🤤
They get married in chapter 32 of 120, so quite early. They never get divorced and he doesn't have/want concubines. Yes, they start to like each other after their marriage, but while that happens, they are comfortable with each other. You're welcome c:
Green flag most of the time. You see, their personalities are very different, the FL is a spoiled but not rotten kind of girl, she spends money easily and she likes it when she's praised for her beauty or skills in managing the household. On the other hand, the ML is a guy of few words, quite frugal, he was never interested in marriage and doesn't know how to deal with women, so he learns later how to behave around his wife. There aren't a lot of misunderstandings because they trust each other. The novel is very simple, kind of "slice of life" of their lives as a married couple, some action here and there, some politics and a few "villains".
No, she was veeeeeeery far from it. She can't even hold a bow if it isn't with both hands🤠In the novel, she's the perfect example of a well-bred, well-educated young lady from the capital, she was raised to be a good wife so she's well-versed in how to manage the household and how to navigate in society.
