To be honest I must say that I prefer this kind of setup, where it comes to fl + second/third lead relationship compared to the regular setup where the sl mostly just pines after the fl and being annoying to boot. Here we have 3 different guys all liking the same girl, but the reason why she is together with them is completely different. Lou Yao is like a faithful companion who helps build her confidence in herself. Can't wait to see what the other two relationships will bring out in our fl.

Your bring up a lot of good points :) I do not hate the mom, though I disagree with how she handles certain things. What bothers me the most is that she knew that Niao Niao probably did not have a great life at home, knowing how the second aunt is and the fact that the grandmother prefer boys, and still did not really do anything about it.
know that she loves her children, and she wants what's best for them. I also appreciate that she wants Niao Niao to marry someone she loves, I thought that it was more usual that the young people did not like each other and then the parents just decided. But the fact is the more stubborn someone is, the more they will go against you if you push. So if she wants her daughter to marry for love instead of saying "No you can never marry this boy" it is better to go with the third aunts approach to the problem.
I think Zeng Li is acing the role though, and I am really happy that she and Lusi gets along really well irl. I can't imagine having to act these emotional scenes with someone you don't actually like.

They married way back. And then after the moms brother died her husband married the second lady. They have not specified exactly what the moms story is yet. I assume she suffers from trauma, and so her mind is protecting itself.

Hate is a strong word. I will probably be angry at him for leaving Niaoniao since he does it even though he knows he will hurt her. But if he just abandoned his revenge he wouldn't be the same character either, so the road to healing after revenge will be gruesome for both of them but lets hope the director and screenwriter kept the happy ending from the novel.

Well she is supposed to be engaged to Yuan Shan later, and yet ends up getting married to LBY at the end anyway so she does slip through his fingers later.
