The drama is calm, sweet, and purely Japanese in style. It beautifully conveys messages about mental health and addiction. The chemistry between the leads is absolutely wonderful!
Oguri Shun is charming, expressive, and has such a captivating voice — simply outstanding in everything he does. Han Hyo Joo is incredible; you actually forget she’s Korean! She speaks flawless Japanese and feels completely natural in her role.
The music is fantastic. The show carries that classic Japanese tone. Even though it touches on the characters’ psychological struggles, it never feels heavy or dull. It doesn’t overdo the “chocolate recipes” either; it shows just enough, focusing instead on emotions and human relationships.
It’s colorful, well-paced, with just the right amount of tension and a few comedic touches that make it flow beautifully. The 8 episodes were exactly what it needed, nothing more, nothing less.
And as for the finale... The guest appearances by Song Joong Ki and Sakaguchi Kentaro in the last episode were such a pleasant surprise!
All in all, I truly enjoyed watching it, from the very first to the very last second.
I believe he would get rid of all of them for her. But since she’s lost her mind and doesn’t really love him anyway, I can totally see her accepting anything just to gain power and take revenge on the prince.
"he doesn’t seem as bad to me as he appears"Idk... he lost me when he started sleeping with and impregnating…
He has made so many mistakes, he generally comes across as kind of psycho with his behavior, that I was thinking maybe something else made him end up like this, since he shows some sensitivities. Always, of course, towards the princess. I don’t know, maybe I’m talking nonsense. His role and his performance have really confused me 😔
You're right. I'm so captivated by this trio that I've caught myself eagerly anticipating their scenes. Honestly, I'm more anxious about their fate than that of the main characters 😅.
Wow! The kiss between the princess and the Emperor was one of the most passionate I’ve ever seen (not counting the C-drama shorts — those are in a category of their own). But this couple is pure fire! If the princess weren’t so obsessed with the prince and if the Emperor weren’t so crazy, they would be perfect for each other. For some strange reason, he doesn’t seem as bad to me as he appears. I truly feel that he loved her and cared about her. If she asked him to, I believe he would change everything in his life for the better, as long as she became his wife.
I’ve already gained 10 kilos from Bon Appétit Your Majesty and I’ll probably gain another 10 from this one 😭 But honestly, I’m really loving it so far. The plot is fast-paced and hilarious, full of funny scenes and misunderstandings. I’ve already fallen in love with this family 🥰
So far, it’s an incredibly strong start. The love of my life Neo Hou 🤭 as gorgeous as ever! Though he does remind me of a mix of all his previous xianxia roles, I honestly don’t mind at all. He’s perfect no matter what he does. Our girl Lu Yu Xiao is absolutely adorable too and she’s doing a great job in her role. Overall, the entire cast is stunning. The sets, cinematography, costumes and visual effects are all breathtaking. The soundtrack that accompanies the series is beautiful as well. As for the couple’s chemistry, it’s still a bit early to say, but there’s definitely a spark there one that’s sure to turn into a wildfire in the upcoming episodes 🔥🥰
Such a powerful beginning. The cinematography is stunning. Our couple is absolutely beautiful. Two strong characters with fiery chemistry. The opening was even better than I expected and I’m certain it will only get better from here. I adore Li Qin in historical dramas, but Chen Zheyuan is just as impressive, better than ever. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited over a premiere. ♥️
I’ve watched the first six episodes and I’m already in love with it. I like everything about it. The plot, the directing, the effects, the colors. The couple has such strong chemistry. Wang Zi Yi is gorgeous and sexy. I think it’s finally his time. After this series, I’m certain we’ll be seeing him much more often. Xianxia dramas suit him perfectly. ♥️
This series is a true masterpiece. A solid ten out of ten: the plot is gripping and perfectly structured, the performances are powerful and deeply moving and the direction highlights the atmosphere in a remarkable way. In just 12 episodes, it delivers a complete and unforgettable experience. A must-watch.

But was he really reaching for the cup… or something else? 🤔

To be honest, the guy was really holding it in at that moment 😂😂
