she wants him to be the first person to hold her hand when she tries a wedding gown, otherwise she just stands there holding out her arm, while he is paying
she wants a proposal at a movie premier
she wants 5 karat ring
but at the same time- he has to make their movie, chase dreams, otherwise he is not the person she fell in love with
and all the time he also has to be romantic, watch movie with her, etc etc
you cannot have that much money and still be that kind of “youthful unrealistic carefree” person that she loves.

totally depressing
FL- career women with nothing else
ml- no dream, no love, dejected, seem even more miserable the way they purposely make his hair white and back bent. I feel like they wasted their life, love not worth it, nothing to root for.
2nd couple- just not worth talking about.
everybody miserable and lying to themselves, except for the 2 guys Glasses and something. why would they ever have reunions again in the roof top- gathering of the miserable wasted lives!

leads are stupid, only have 580k, but let’s get 4.5 million house..who does that??!

also feel there is nothing left between leads except “let’s make money”
maybe that’s what Beijing did to people, you worked to death for money, and if no money can’t survive or be happy

FL’s mom at dinner screaming for ML parents to sell their retirement home is just too much. Is that how future inlaws meet these days- scream about money, with not even an ounce of respect! And FL doesn’t even say anything at dinner.

I’m only watching because I want to know what happens to main leads relationship, and 2nd FL…but some parts of this drama are just ridiculous

this show should be called “Love Or Money”
I feel sorry for Zhou Shui- he’s not suitable for this cutthroat Beijing that has no place for his ideologies.
And a bit unhappy about Da ji who has become more “hard, driven, careless”, but she fits right in with Beijing now.
and her mom- typical protective, but so insensitive towards Zhou Shui

just finished episode 11, WOW! so raw and emotional, up to this point a masterpiece

don’t get me wrong, this is a great drama I ranked 10/10, and look forward to it every night.
But watching this doesn’t put me in a happy floaty mood like Hidden Love, First Frost, Blossoms in Adversity, Rise of Ning..

I like your analysis, yeah the sparks are so obvious,
the teasing is way more than brotherhood, I forget which episode Ben was drinking in the bar, LZ walked over saying are you upset over Saxin, and Ben agreed. they could make a whole drama with Ben/SAxin as leads

This drama/novel really brings out strong emotions.

A few comments out there saying there’s no chemistry between the leads, or it’s too slow…...Impossible for me to understand!!!

I have watched too many romance dramas to count. But the chemistry and intensity of this one is unmatched.

the pacing is just right, if anything I wish it was slower…so I have more time to absorb and feel what they are going through. Rewatching for sure.

I think he is afraid of hurting her more, if he dies. that’s why the distancing and coldness. Remember that part another bomb expert dies and the wife/girlfriend was sobbing? So in a way he is protecting her

I know this is a not an easy story to watch/read. But I just want to point out that it also shows how strong and capable of love humans are, despite all odds, and that is both the realistic and beautiful message I get from this.

also what I found beautiful in the novel was her acceptance of him. They told her people like him will either kill someone else or kill themslves. She told him- you don’t have to be strong or have to get better, the way we are is good, and I’ll always stay with you. it’s ok to be vulnerable. doesn’t matter if you can’t figure out what’s real or not, just remember we are married. (something like that)

I only read last few chapters, so there may be a chunk in between I’m missing.. The end goes like this- he got captured, was tortured for 6 months, during that time he thought she was dead. Then he got rescued, but in the worst shape possible and severely traumatized. She was there when they got him out, and she brought him back to China. she basically devoted herself to take care of him, and they got married. The epilogue described the years after marriage, they have 2 kids, she wrote books and got famous, he struggles with his health and ptsd. At the end his body just couldn’t take it anymore, and I guess he lost the fight, so he killed himself. A few years later she was back at East country and was shot while trying to save someone. And it said maybe she wanted to reunite with him sooner. It made sense if you want a realistic novel, given the amount of physical and emotional trauma he suffered, he did the best he could to stay with her and kids for those years. And it was very clear that they loved each other deeply, no blames.

no- sad ending in the novel, but all the details in the novel helped the ending to make sense. Its so well written that it hurts even more to read, if you know what I mean.

for everyone who’s obsessed with this drama, go check out the English translation on Wattpad. it’s only 68 chapters + very long epilogue. BUT it is very good!!! I think it helps complete this drama, especially the thought process for the ending.
