This is completely useless to watch since Love Mechanics exist. Go watch that one instead, it’s the same story fleshed out and date I say one of the best university (and otherwise) BL out there. Yin and War are good in this but their acting skills have improved further in that version. Don’t waste your time. I only did because I needed my YinWar fix and that was the only choice on Viki. But yeah, that’s really the only reason for watching this dumpster fire.
(Ok, ok, I sound harsh but seriously, there are absolutely no sane reason to watch it.)
Hated the last arc so much , not to mention the ending. So unnecessary. They could have wrapped it up neatly with the lies coming to light but no, they had to start a new arc to fill out those 40 episodes and create some more useless drama. I think it was really great up until that point. Then it just all went down into the drain. But Xu Kai is cute in his aloofness all the way to the end at least.
Im confused. I don’t understand why this exist. I watched the first 10 episodes and then put it on hold because I got bored. (And at the time it aired on Viki the subtitles were horrendous. They are good now but back then the team didn’t keep up) Yeah, I couldn’t with it at that point, I had already suffered through the last four before that. It had potential but the potential was lost before it began. There’s nothing happening.
This is supposed to be the backstory of Ai and Nhai from TonhonChonlatee but the story is changed. The actors too. Not gonna hold that against them but at least get the facts straight. Also, the facts within the series is off. So, how long was Ai in Canada really? Five years? 7? Who knows. Not this series. Theres more but I won’t spoil it.
Anyway Meen and Ping are cute. So I guess there’s that.
This drama has three parts or storylines or whatever you chose to call it, that intertwines. It’s the mother/daughter relationship, the romantic relationship between the leads and the business part. The main focus is on family and the fl is what ties it all together. Yes, the mother is overbearing but aren’t many Chinese mothers that. She wants what’s best for her daughter but she goes about it in a pretty wild way, sabotaging instead of helping. As for the end, it’s necessary for the sake of showing her growth, which is a huge deal in the drama. If you’re here for the romance the beware it’s a slow burn. It’s not much of an enemies to lovers either. And pretty lukewarm transition tbh. As for the business part, well, it gets solved in a neat way. I wish there would have been more conflict actually. A little bit more tension. But in the end, this is a drama about family and the importance of family and cherishing those close to you. Everything else is just a side story.
I absolutely love the fl, both the actress and the character. The way she is shifting in mood is splendid. Not to mention how vicious she is. And I absolutely hate the noble consort but I have so much respect for the actress. She is doing such a great job. Not everyone can play a villain that good. Well, I’m only on episode 15 and for that I am happy. I so look forward to what’s to coming. I’m curious about the romantic comedy tag though? What’s comedy about it? The emperor and his subtle way of getting proud of when he’s praised for presents he gives or his looks, and his somewhat comical eunuch. Anyway, Xu Kai looks good even though I mourn his hair.
As much as I liked this drama (I’m a fan of Zheng Ye Cheng very much) I think it’s a bit lacking. Mainly it’s a whole lot tell and less so show. They tell you he and he got this and this punishment but they don’t show it. They tell you she did that but doesn’t show it. They tell you he decided to abandoned camp but didn’t show it. I’m vague for spoiler reasons and I could go on if not for that but I think you get my point. I’m glad we got a drama with fewer episodes than a regular historical drama but for once I think it would have benefitted from a few more.
But overall it is a sweet drama with good chemistry between the leads and a villain who is good at villaining.
I’m sorry but if you’re that sensitive to critique and bad comments then maybe you should not read reviews…
Oh, I didn’t mean you, I meant Bank shouldn’t read comments and reviews if he’s sensitive and starts to cry. And as I said, people might continue to watch for a number of reasons even though they don’t like the show as a whole. Me personally, I watched it mostly for Yoh and Sam, and what little we got of office intrigues. Leaving mean comments though is just unnecessary and kind of childish but then again, how old do you think a lot of the people who watch and comment on a series like SxV are?
The outfit Salin wore on the runway was really pretty. I know nobody likes his wardrobe and all... I loved it…
I had no bigger issues with Banks wardrobe but I wish they would have made his runway clothes black instead of white. They resembled a wedding dress way too much and I think that was a little too on the nose. Also, the necklace would have made a bigger impact on a black canvas.
Okay this serie is maybe bad and disappointing but it doesn’t deserve all the hate and negativity it’s getting.…
I’m sorry but if you’re that sensitive to critique and bad comments then maybe you should not read reviews and comments on places like X or IG or MDL or where ever he saw them. Because that’s what it’s like being an artist, not everyone likes what you do. It’s extremely hypocritical to pretend to like something and lie about it just because you don’t want to hurt the actors feelings. And maybe people kept watching the series because they hoped it would get better or they liked some part of it/some actors.
I had totally forgot I hadn’t finished this one so now I watched the last two episode. I can’t believe I missed Sam and Yoh in the sofa. Where did that body come from. Now, if those two could get their own BL I would be a happy girl for a very long while. Their chemistry through out this series is what made me bare with it. Because let’s be real, it wasn’t that good. Not even a 7.0 good as the ratings suggest. It’s a shame how little chemistry Bank and Mos had. Idk what happened there because they were great together in BD but here it was just meh.
Prim and Pim might possibly be the cutest GL side couple in a BL I have ever seen. I generally am of the opinion that GL couple should have their own series and it would be nice to get a spin off with these two characters.
In conclusion; I came for Mos and Bank, stayed for Sam and Yoh (sorry I can’t remember their actual names) and wished the series had focused more on office intrigues and less on boring relationships between Lin and Khun Dad. In the end I started to even ff M&Bs scenes. That’s how boring they were.
So, that’s my two cents on this. I won’t rewatch like ever unless I want my Yoh and Sam fix (and then I’ll use the ff button real well) but I suspect someone has made a YT or TikTok with them I can watch so yeah, there’s that.
I have a question - not attacking you or anything, just being curiousWhy is it bad to add GL side cpl into BL?…
GL should get their own series and not get treated like some second hand option just for the sake of it. The pure hate these girls get is ridiculous when it comes to BL and I can understand why they get it. Most GL couples in BL are written poorly. (I’m pretty sure BL writers don’t know/understand how to write GL without making the girls into stereotypes and cliches) They are silly and hysterical and try to cater to an audience that isn’t there. Most of the BL viewers aren’t interested in GL and are just annoyed by the girls. I don’t know if this makes sense at all but the short version is; the girls need their own series but by writing them into BL as side couples they don’t get that. They only get hate instead.
People complain too much about this series. Me, I watch it cause tongue action, and Rak is adorable and Dino is such a goner for him. Is cute is all I’m saying.
I absolutely love this series but I do think it would have benefited from having a couple of more episodes. I sometimes got the feeling things were missing or rushed over. It went too smooth. I’m all for keeping the drama on the low side but Oab was a bit too lenient on Wan tbh. Or, maybe not but we didn’t really get to see him being angry properly. We were just told months had passed. At least give them an episode on conflict and solution. Anyway, it was a nice series over all and the actors did a splendid job with their characters. I think the guy (I’m sorry I don’t know his name) playing Kluea was absolutely phenomenal. I hope to see more of him.
I don’t think Mame knows how to write GL so she should stay away from that genre. It’s an unfortunate trend to add a GL side couple in BL nowadays. Give the girls their own series. And don’t add BL side couples to their shows. Anyway…
It was a good finale. Maybe a bit predictable of course. I even at one point wished it would take the other route and not be a HEA. But yeah, I’m happy about the end too. Now I want a special episode about their happy life together, on and off island.
Well, I was right about Khaosuay backing off. Or are you gonna tell me she’s gonna come back full force next episode now that the cat’s out of the bag? 🙄
Kluea, I’m sorry but what the f is he doing? First of all, he should have confronted Wan before showing Oab the video. Second, what’s with the beans. Does he hold that much of a grudge against Oab he actually intentionally wants Methas to demolish the restaurant?
(Ok, ok, I sound harsh but seriously, there are absolutely no sane reason to watch it.)
