Everything was perfect, casting, acting, directing and cinematography. But the script is way too bloody. They omitted so many important lines and scenes.
We don’t get to know that it was ML that donated bone marrow to his brother when he was near brink of death over a decade ago. It was the FL who told Mark to give him a reality check. We don’t get to see that letter that ML addressed to mark way back. So many pivotal scenes were omitted. The person the ML saved came back to bite his hands.

Because I’m a fan of the actress. Just because I’m a fan I’m not going to blindly stick up for her character. It’s an opinion on her character. Don’t get so worked up. You’re so invested in the drama you want people dead.

Yes but it’s a drama where you actually want the grandpa dead right? I started commenting at this page because people were cursing out his character and wishing him dead. You might have been one of those people. When others give an evaluation you remind us it’s just a drama but you haven’t really held back on your opinions either.
I know this subject has been brought up in the comments multiple times. So let me clear why the leads look the way they look lol.
They broke up 7 years ago, really they shouldn’t look that much older. But it was done on purpose that the years have done so much damage to them. The stress and environment took a toll on them. FL suffered alone and ML entered into depression. In the novel ML did not take care of himself because one he’s beyond caring so he’s neglecting himself and his hectic schedule as a surgeon turned him anorexic. Not sure if they touched base on his anorexia in the drama but as viewers I think we were suppose to pick this up. Wallace lost 18 pounds for this role to fit the character. When you see ML looking haggard and lifeless with that messy hair, walking hunch backed or with his shoulders loose, this is all done on purpose so he fits the role. Besides being emotionally drained he’s physically drained from the long hours he works. LZR didn’t lose any weight for the role but she purposely did not use makeup in specific scenes to show us the damage the years put on her face. There is so much detail and so many things decided during production to give us this final result.
That’s one reason why they didn’t mind if you thought these two look older for their roles.
Secondly this drama was written by the same author as “Too late to say I love you,” starring Wallace and LXR. It was written over 10 years ago with Wallace in mind to play the role. But he never had time in his schedule to film this until now.
The producer is LXRs real life hubby. Who would have thought right? He was also the producer in Too Late to say I love you. They weren’t married back then and had their own significant others
The producer sought out director Liu Junjie who is famous for his beautiful story telling. This would mark the 3rd time he and Wallace has worked together. “My Sunshine” then “All out of Love”
This drama is very well received in China for the way it’s shot, casting and small details like wardrobe. Every aspect of this drama was not coincidence but done purposely to achieve the results you see. It’s dominating in tv and online ratings. If you’re familiar with vlinkage which measures popularity index of all online sources daily, this drama has dominated the #1 spot on vlinkage since the 20th. It landed in second place for only the first 2 days.
The only frustration people have is with the IQ level of the FL because some of her poor decisions. Another issue is Wallace’s HK accent which people seemed to finally warmed up to and focus on his performance instead. The emotional scenes later in the drama proved why it was important to use his original voice.
