I understand what you mean. I was really annoyed with him also at the start when he was giving her a hard time about something she didn't even remember. For me that changed when he made the decision to put whatever he was holding against her aside and he started treating her wonderfully.

I do also think that he was fully prepared to let it go. Like he said, he wanted her still and then later realized that her personality and concern for him didn't match with the actions of the person he was meeting 2 years ago. Her dad bringing it up as a 'gotcha' moment forced him to address it again and the realization of what actually happened made him need some reflection. I doubt it is going to be much of an issue in their relationship from now on.

I haven't read the novel either, so I'm not sure what the mistress' fate will be. I also hope she gets her comeuppance loool. The father isn't innocent in this though, so I hope he gets some karma too..🤭🤭🤭

I agree that it is a bit overdramatic. On the other hand, he only went there that day because of the date. The person he was travelling to then didn't even bother to come and see how he was doing. Even worse, that person then doesn't even seem to remember him or what happened to him when they meet again.

His entire life changed for the worse that day, so it is understandable that he would be so hyper focused on the circumstances of that day and I can also understand why he would be a bit resentful towards her. It's not entirely rational, but human emotions rarely are.

It must also be a bit of a mindf*ck to then realize that he went there and got in an accident, which ruined his life, to go and meet someone he wasn't even interested in meeting.

The ironic thing is that neither Zhuang Xu and Nie Cheng Yuan would actually be happy in
this scenario either. They crave and want women like NXG and her mother, but they have such big inferiority complexes in regards to women being more capable or in a higher hierarchy than them. So they want them, but also severely resent them.

That is why NCY couldn't handle his wife discussing company business with him and also why he is now living with that other woman, but judges and seems to dislike both her and her daughter.

If he was hurting only himself, I would've given him so grace, but he hasn't.

He thoroughly messed with Fls self esteem, made it so she got slandered and gossiped about even though she did everything right, didn't communicate or seriously pursue her (because a part of him did believe Rongs lies), then blamed her for not waiting around for him. Even now when little cousin gave him an opportunity (should I let her know you came by), he still chooses to sulk and brood instead of acting. His immaturity has really hurt someone and he's still not acknowledging that. Thats why hes the bad guy still.

I mean he was visibly defeated. He confessed in a bit of a panic i think and then was obviously crushed immediately after bc it was obvious she doesn't feel the same yet.

We also shouldn't forget he literally got himself assigned to another branch just to be closer to her and already considers her his future wife. It would be weirder to me, if he gave up so easily after going through so much effort for her already.

Thats what bothers me the most about him. Clearly he believed those rumors. He did think badly of her, but he also wanted her still so instead of clearing things up, he just treated her badly. Doesn't approach her seriously, doesn't decisively quit his situationship with Rong, talks down to her, doesn't defend her when it actually matters and now getting mad at her for not keeping her seemingly one-sided promise. He's the worsttt.

Exactly! Like, one 'We're not together and I don't want to be with Rong' would've cleared the entire situation up for the whole group. If he's adamant about not embarrassing Rong, he could've just told only Xiguang that. But he's utterly incompetent, so all he does is brood and sulk. His loss then. 🤣🤣

Nah, SML is a mess. He wanted her, but refused to communicate that to her or their friend group. Even his dormmates still think he wants Rong. He also just refused to clarify his very messy situation with Rong, all while stringing FL along. Every time he did talk to FL, he was condescending and rude. It's understandable if he feels inferior to her. It's not okay to take that out on her. If she had dated him, he would've worn down her self-confidence with his condescending comments.

I also didn't like when the actual ML was being rude to her about something she literally doesn't remember. If he had kept that behaviour up, I would've dropped the drama. Fortunately he got over himself and is now treating her nicely. SML meanwhile is still just brooding and not even attempting to clear up the massive misunderstanding, even though it is such an easy thing to clear up.

At first I also felt the first kiss was a bit early/out of nowhere, but I was just watching the cut version. The uncut version shows a bit more context, which makes the kiss make more sense. There are also other small scenes that make the story make more sense. It is a shame that they only show the cut version on youtube, even though I understand why they might do that.

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I started watching it with like no knowledge or expectations about it and was so entertained until the end. Like I got so mad and shocked at some points, but that just added to the fun, ngl! 😂😂

Li Qin was such a good general. Such good and believable fight scenes with her! And I'm so impressed with Chen Zhe Yuan too. He's almost too pretty sometimes, yet he was still so convincing as a commanding general. I loved all his scenes with his dad lol. Hopefully he does a bunch more of these types of dramas.
