Agreed, rarely do I agree with all the points. But strangely enough all your thoughts mirror my own. I'm just…
Yeah, some people get toxic out of nowhere. Imagine putting your spare time into downvoting something you haven't even watched because you don't like the actors. This is definitely a drama which you have to see to judge because I don't think you can base your judgement on the rating.
Well, I liked it 9/10 for me. The second to last arc was longer than necessary, there was some ambiguity between the reincarnations which didn't sit entirely well with me and I feel like TMS needed to be killed to satisfy more of the viewers. The last point would be that romance kind of took the back seat in the second half of the drama. That being said, I was never bored. The very ending is teased in the early episodes in what I thought was merely a dream. If you think that you're missing something out, do read the epilogue of the novel, because I don't think we're going to get an epilogue in the form of the drama (hopefully I'm wrong, because I want to see a bit more of their happy reunion). Lastly TM, was truly to the very end the real definition of a gray character, and in true fashion to that some of us, more willing to accept a morally ambiguous character understood the point made; and others with a clear view about right or wrong didn't tolerate him at all. He was changed from the source material, but it was hinted all along that he wasn't just obsessed over her. Yes they did alter some logic of the drama in the end, but as I said I don't think that came out of nowhere, that's why I'm able to suspend my disbelief. I would have preferred if he was ultimately killed, but him just acquiring emotions after FY died and coming to the conclusion that an existence such as his wasn't needed in the world has its own poetical meaning. Novel readers are mad witch is fair, they change his character and a part of the story by extension in the end I probably would be mad too, have I read the novel. But as character in itself I think is so much more compelling watching about his drama version than his novel version. But this is my subjective opinion, everyone is entitled to their own.
Ironic how TMS taught Pearl to write and read, but he can't comprehend the simple word “no”. I understand his reasons, but he needs to go. He can't keep forcing her like this. Hopefully MXL will kick his ass so hard that he skip his next 10,000 lives.
Sympathizing with him isn't bad dude afterall he and her were there for each other for 10000 years as friends…
She kinda did, tho. By healing him, she draws the line, there's nothing more between them. Notice how this is the first and last time she does something for him. She got all this barrage of information, about things he did for her, MXL wanted to settle the score (even if one can argue that he did her more harm than good). It's a common theme in Chinese Dramas, this thing about settling debts; if she did nothing, it meant that she still have some entanglement with him. It's often used in cdrama romance, like “we can't keep score of the debts with each other “. By settling the score, she literally treats him as a stranger.
Ep.36DL ZM really shows he has been demonized by threatening to kill off the Alliance and infusing XueXin with…
The fact that someone has actual feelings for him, and he just brushes it off, means to me, that he probably will get her killed. And then realize what he lost, keeping the curse alive.
Also, I have to point out how much I love MXL's characterization. I don’t usually talk about female leads, but…
I subscribe every word you said. While I like to add that she put the last nail in the coffin of their relationship. Anything he does beyond that, will have actual consequences. As she told him once, XXC/ZM is her bottom line.
She is not willing to sacrifice everything for him though. Her problematic brother looms large 😂
I think she will, tho, given the fact that she cleared the “debts” between them. TM keeps pushing forward despite MXL telling him they'll be like strangers, so I guess she will kill him to protect ZM.
OMG... I don't know how to put this. I haven't started watching this drama yet.. because I'm a binge watcher.HOWEVER..........…
None of the above, girl, you're in luck. FL starred as SFL in TTEOTM, and many though she had some talent. I gotta say she didn't disappoint me. The couple has good chemistry, and she is flirty and bold. No nonsense characters, logical thinking and good story is what awaits you. Check it for yourself, if it fits your taste buds.
Here are my two cents about the ongoings of the drama so far: — This current arc is going a bit long, I'm enjoying it, but we've been teased with demon ZM since episode 20 or so, and we still haven't got him. — I really find refreshing the gods' portrayal in this drama: the typical xianxia would go something like immortals against demon clans and/or demon clans being segregated and humanity is kind of there for “the human arc”. Here, the humans are kind of the ones being hard-pressed between two factions that are no better than the other. I might even argue that immortals are the worst of the lot. Humans get rid of them just to become the oppressor of the spirit clans. There isn't a clear good or evil, and it permeates the whole drama, not only the villain. — It was mentioned that the “dimension” GQM and FLS were sent to was a one way ticket, so I'm guessing at this point they're kind of not alive. Unless they bring them back in the last couple of episodes, I don't see it happening, tho.
I love him, the crazier the better🤭. But I get why others can't take him too🥴.
Thank you! I also read your comment down below, and we essentially share the same vision, and thoughts. This drama has a very interesting comment section, it's so fun reading about everyone's thoughts and theories, after watching new episodes.

I don't necessarily think he is obsessed with her per se. I think he is obsessed with maintaining the status quo. They have been together since literally the beginning of time and the world itself, in a way I feel he could tolerate everything and not cross the line because having this one companion was enough for him. But Pearl isn't like that, she has been holding back all this time, while being deeply curious about the world. In the end, she acquired feelings and an understanding of human emotions, thus severing her connection with Fate. They can't understand each other no more because they have fundamentally two different visions of life. Fate can't accept that a road that was walked in company of Pearl now, not only he walks alone, but also he sees her suffering and sacrificing over something he does not deem important enough. It's very tragic in a way, not even in his human form could he understand the feeling of love, constantly in a state of ennui. Until MXL arrives and puts a vague feeling of companionship. To a person that has felt nothing and feels nothing of the world, this must've felt like breathing for the first time. But he was never her priority, forever left behind and discarded by the one person who has stirred “something” in him. He cannot cope with it and thus intervenes in her life, Fate wants everything to go back to the “normal” he can understand and the one he does not have to part with her in bad terms.
I, too, hate obsessive SML when said obsession comes out of thin air, but I feel like this it's a very good representation of what a non-annoying SML can be. I can understand where he's coming from and why he acts the way he does, doesn't change the fact that his approach is not only wrong, but also will only deepen that hatred Pearl has for him. Sadly, he can't truly comprehend even that, Fate is trapped in his own twisted fate.
I'm a bit confused with something in episode 30 I believe it was. In other order of ideas, did you all notice…
When Zhao Min starts to “nurture” Pearl, did he give her a part of his own self just to let her have a human body? Because he seemed to take a shard out of his body, like so many characters did to kill themselves.
I'm a bit confused with something in episode 30 I believe it was. In other order of ideas, did you all notice how Zhao Min got furious when he saw MXL protecting NXY, but as soon as she began explaining her reasoning he slowly showed a smirk? lol
This drama is the first after The Story of Minglan, when I feel like the production is accompanying the story telling. I know huge praise, but look at it, it's an extremely careful production. Even the clothes reflect the character's mental state. For example, NXY clothing got slowly darker with each episode showcasing his deploring mentality. OR how MXL look completely unadorned and all black in the previews for today's episodes, showing the audience her sadness and even resistance to what's going on around her.
There you go. Mind you, this hasn't finished, there's a couple of chapters left. The translator usually posts on Wednesday.
