Prior to that one, I saw him in Legend of the Dragon Pearl. He was excellent in that one as well.

Having worked for one of the biggest law firms during my career, I feel that you don't understand what her legal advice in the background may be asking her to do to prepare for a final show down in court. She is up against a powerful agency, who is also preparing for a battle and making moves behind the scene. Korean boy band, TVXQ, had three members who successfully terminated their contracts with SM Entertainment due to alleged mistreatment and unfair contract terms. Time will tell whether ZL is able to pull off the same victory; however, the moves she's making currently are probably necessary for her final court battle.

Agree, some serious themes but with a definite lighthearted spin as well. FL gets away with a lot for sure, lol. It's interesting as that character you mentioned clearly likes her and helps her when he can; however, he'll also let her die. He's activated so many plots like the tribe attacking the garrison that could get her killed. He definitely has a secret plot other than just working for his evil master that takes precedence over his feelings for her.

I must have missed that explanation. At least they gave a motive, unlike when the gates were wide open and the tribe walked right in to challenge the garrison with no explanation of how that happened, rightfully called out by some people, even though it was a plot device, lol.

Agree, since this covers only 1/8th of the story, not much character- or plot- development. That is one of the reasons I hope it continues to S2 or even S3. Reading a novel or watching the donghua / anime is too slow for me.

I think we have to hear from the novel readers. The father survived and was wandering around the town that was flooded, where many villagers died. ML had sent his men to try to save villagers in case things turned sideways, which they did. Did the father's son die due to trying to save villagers if he was one of the men sent to keep an eye on things down there, which would be a strong motive for his anger? I don't think it's been explained yet.

Where does it put it in terms of popularity against others? Is that a good enough amount of views for the producers to consider a S2? It feels like the series is just getting started and going to end already, sadly.

I'm enjoying it and have rated it high. It's faster paced than Ever Night, which had so many episodes that it wandered a little bit until the lead got to the academy. This one definitely has a tight script so there are no draggy parts. Lots of action arcs. This genre starts off a little slower and then picks up fast as the actor gains power. Give it a try and see if you like it.

1 - 3, although lame, plot device so they can fight. Number 4, Shen Li is one of those people with a one-track mind. She can't get ZL out of her mind and has created many accounts on MDL to irritate people, lol.
