I'm loving his new look (〃゚3゚〃)~Deng Wei's Su Yi Shui (LOTDT) also had similar hairstyle and…
Darn, his new look didn't last long. Hope it comes back. It frames his face perfectly. I'll join the riot, lol.

Three years later and OMG—our man came back leveled up! That messy hair? Those deep, haunted eyes?? The quiet…
I'm not fond of the poison trope either. The only good thing is they usually find a cure. Let's hope it's soon since our man can fight well and it would be a shame to not see those skills.

Anyone pondering whether to watch or not (OR to continue or not), I suggest ya'all make a decision after watching…
I second that, it's picking up nicely. Plus, a lot of the 35-40 episode c-drams take a minute to get going. I never give up after the first few episodes.

Agree. It's almost like trolling since it wasn't up their alley to watch that type of series in the first place. I didn't think about the not helpful vote, good idea.

HOW this drama get 1 star when it just came out? People shouldn’t give ratings until they watch half of the…
Phoenix giving it 1 star for the reasons given doesn't make sense. All t.v. is repetitious and copying each other since shows were invented in the early 1920's; thus, to criticize this for being like the U.S. CSI type series that this person is bored with is no reason to rate it 1 star. The c-dramas set in ancient times with the beautiful ancient styling and cases having to be solved with the tools available for the time period are a nice departure from the U.S. series set in modern times.

One complaint!!! Some of the important sabotaged plans are just too simplistic and easy... making this drama rather…
I wondered like you if they were going to be able to tell a cohesive story with only 30 episodes since that is so unusual; however, after the initial learning curve and going to the trial, the action arc has really set the tone and the story line has picked up tremendously. I think it's going great personally, although like you I'd wish for more episodes just to be able to watch the series longer.

With regards to Yang Yang, I think we're lucky that his acting has improved a lot from his Martial Universe days.…
I didn't see it but it sounds like they're following pretty closely to the donghua, which should make the donghua viewers happy. It's sometimes disappointing for fans who watch a donghua or read a book to come to a live action where things have changed too much.

You have a great point. I don't have prior information about this story line like others do; however, it looks like it's going to get more complex quickly after ep 7 that I'm on.

Agree, Hu Ge is a great actor. I don't like excessive cry scenes either. I think Au Rui Peng is an example of a newer actor who can do the full range of emotions in costume dramas without overdoing it. I'm really enjoying this series and I also watch all of Yang Yang's costume dramas. I just hope he continues to improve like he has in the past so he has a better range as an actor.

You don't have enough info here for people to make a judgement on the story line. Your last sentence is the only real info about the story line. That's the sentence that would be a catch and make people want to know more ("I died the day I was born.) The sentence prior to that is confusing and should be rewritten and clarified. Good luck with your book.

With regards to Yang Yang, I think we're lucky that his acting has improved a lot from his Martial Universe days. He can show emotions with his eyes now with the on-demand tears; however, he's still in the Hankiz Omar phase where he's afraid- or unable- to use his facial muscles to show emotion to improve his acting. You'll notice they didn't have any big crying scene for him when his best friend turned into a masked body guard. I hope he continues to improve in the future.

Agree, they could have done it differently but then we wouldn't have a 38 episode drama. It would have been over pretty quick. With writers churning things out, I think it will always be this way where we wonder why the characters didn't choose a different path.

Yes, MDL's Kokuto tagged an article that his contract ended, that he wasn't going to renew it, instead, going independent to start his own studio. Since he's always getting cast in the same roles and has real acting chops with being able to project his emotions, I think it's a great decision to hopefully change his career trajectory.

I think you're right. Hopefully, that's why he's going independent to change being typecast.

Now that they started the arc, I can see what you're talking about. They are really annoying.

Agree. Doesn't it turn out to be Wan Duo who is practicing the dark arts but somehow lost his body, lol. Edit: Now that I pulled up the cast list and watched ep 3, I see that it's not just "Ghost" next to Wan Dou's name and that he comes later in the series.

Person Wang Duo
So glad WD's going independent. WD deserves his own roles as the lead.

That makes total sense of when the switch happened. It's getting more interesting- and the stakes are higher- here near the end of the series.
