The two young princes haven't shown intentions yet from what I can tell. One of them wants corruption gone and for the courts to follow the legal process. The other two are fighting each other full time, with one spying on the other one so long that he beat the ML to put in his memorandum as he'd been logging stuff for ages looking for a chance per what the Emperor said. Then there's the ML looking for revenge but who knows if he wants the throne. I think he's more revenge oriented due to what happened to his family.

From what PeachBlossomGoddess also said, maybe it's because I'm watching it with English subs that I don't notice it.

Good point. Also, with these dramas gaining so much traction outside of their respective countries, I don't think the scripts are going to change anytime soon.

I figured he was noble from that fire scene but I didn't know to whom he was related. This is becoming more interesting.

It might be a bit derivative but cdramas mostly follow a lot of the same tropes. I'm enjoying this one as it moves locations a lot which alleviates it becoming stale.

I'm not noticing it in the later episodes so maybe they toned it down.

I see your point. I usually watch Marcus Here 3 times a week on YouTube. I think he takes Douban and other ratings from a company that compiles ratings from the different entities. Plus, at the end of each episode he does the count down of the 10 top dramas both regular and TV and picks the one he's backing to win the ratings.

Some times fans of one drama will down vote other dramas. I think you have to look at the ratings coming out of China to get the real ratings picture at the beginning of a series.

I tried to stay awake to start this. Unfortunately, I fell asleep and so I'm not sure. The bad prince actor must be like Wang Hong Yi who never gets the girl from being cast as the 2ML all the time, lol.

Agree, it definitely deserves a higher score. It holds up against the higher budget, 40 episode productions. Wish all shorts were this engaging.
