I like your take on the legal matters, but I think the relational matters also need to be considered. And it is this aspect that makes this drama so riveting.

Most of the directors have guanxi/deep friendship spanning a long time because they started work together since the company's inception. Most of them are not educated but rely on sheer brute and strength to carve out some success for the company. Seems like all those in the ivory tower are educated and refined, whereas those in the TianZhiHao are rough and rugged thug-like hooligans - who would do the dirty work for the company.

And I'm sure when the company expand and these sister companies developed, passions and comradarie is high. But as the years pass, those feelings will wane especially when small companies are at need and the big companies leave them out to dry. Talented staff recruited by human resources get allocated to work in the ivory tower, resources are limited, and opportunities are few too.
No one likes to not be supported when fighting for the company.

AND, who seems to benefit most from all this labor? Is it not those in the ivory tower?
Just put yourself in the shoes of these TianZhiHao directors.
Everyone wants to make some money... but why is it when the company makes any gains, those who get the biggest slice of the pie are in the ivory tower?
You can see how these sentiments can fester.
And it is because of this guanxi, that they have stuck together and not broken out. They may still be "together", but unmet expectations will breed the desire to separate.

But the issue is they are used and abused.
All the hard work and back breaking stuff is bared by these smaller companies, and all the good stuff gets taken by YingHai.
That's where the injustice is felt.

They nostalgically declare they are cut from the same cloth, mateship, brotherhood, loyalty, comradeship, yadda yadda yadda...
But at the end of the day, you alone bare the brunt of the hardship.
That's why XM says, "Where is the good of YingHai when you have no money left?"

Yes. They are owned by YingHai... then why doesn't the parent company bear some of the burden with them when they were not doing well??
There is something really wrong going on if one of your companies sought monies from a loan shark to pay back the parent company.

And then when they hit a jackpot do they want to stick their dirty fingers in and take the loot from them. Talk about double standards!

I highly respect SuXiao's integrity and principles, but I don't like it that she is on the side of the sharks who created the sentiments that lead to this havoc to begin with.

I said he may have some contempt in his heart towards her because of the potential monies that he could have possessed.

I think the way out of this is that SX negotiates a reasonable payout for XM and his uncle (and payments for the retired workers of TianKe) on account of the piece of land that they hold.

So the story will end with SX following through with her principles, exposes XM, gets him kicked out of YingHai. The merger goes ahead. She rekindles her relationship with XM after he's no longer entangled with the company?

If it is... hmmm... I don't know how i feel about that.
It's a tad unrealistic in my opinion.
If she did that to XM... i don't think that he can ever be with her without feeling a tinge of contempt towards her.

I think the title of the drama says it all "IDEAL" City.
She is going to be poster child of the ideal worker - everything is black and white.
No greys.
This I think this is quite unrealistic. The whole world is full of greys.
She's swimming in the very pits of a grey work culture.
She won't and can't betray her principles, else she won't be able to sleep at night.
I respect that. I think there is immense integrity there.
But it just saddens me that all her efforts will only benefit the suits of the board - the very ones who utilize "grey" schemes to deepen their own pockets.

Oh my.... what to do? Such a catch 22 for SX. She discovered XM's secret jackpot but doesn't know whether she should expose him or not.

If i were her, I'd help XM out, keep it a secret, rekindle my relationship with him... ( because there's still something there).
Let the parent company break ties with this little company and let XM have his independence. Why share it with the big shots? They're just going to use and abuse anyways, and then the winnings of the development won't get fairly distributed.... again.

I think XM wants his uncle's company to succeed, but i think he genuinely loves SX too.

He is the same as SX in that he hates how strings are pulled by the upper ranks just for their personal best interest at the expense of others. They want change and a more just system. But the difference is that SX wants to change the system fair and square... whereas XM wants to stoop down to their level and utilise their dirty methods against them.

Looks like SX's best friend Hong Mei is going to succumb to the temptation and become the CEO's mistress.

She's going to give up on her boyfriend for the same reason like SX's ex-fiance broke up with SX. She's too tired of working hard just to make ends meet, and she's not diligent in work enough to climb the ranks. I'm sad that she doesn't persevere with her loyal boyfriend, but this is a real path many have chosen, just to get a slice of a better life even if it means losing yourself.

This is such a gripping drama. I can't express how much I'm enjoying this drama!!
It's rags to riches story. Like a Cinderella story but in the cut throat corporate world... without all that fluff of the fairy and magic. This is success carved out of grit, hardwork and talent!

Yes me too. I'm more interested in SX succeed in restoring order and transparency in this sinking ship of a conglomerate. The mess she needs to clean up is more important than her love life. I'm constantly rooting for SX the underdog, who is swimming against the current of injustice, lazy and greedy people who are out only for themselves.

I think it is so clever that they detail the lifestyle of her best friend's living conditions and situation. It shows the reality of living a life of the working class. No opportunity, constantly belittled at work and with no money to even get married.
And it is for people like her that SX and the CEO work hard to sustain the company so that they and their loved ones can live relatively more comfortably.

I feel sorry for XF... these higher ups used him and tossed him out like garbage when they couldn't use him anymore. I hope with him in the SX's team, he can stick it to them.

I love that scene... so awkward but it was so deserving of some accolade. I would have clapped wildly too like CR... that opening in her speech was so touching, humble and honest.

She is the poster child of reliance and hard-working and talent all rolled into one.

I love the scene where they present their proposals for the merger... SX kicked butt!! She was so organised, poised, well thought through, and just determined to get the best outcome for the company.

So she won people's admiration because her brilliance is undeniable. Girl power!!!

I love how SX is so generous. She gives people second chances. She gives her friend a massive lifeline in lending her money interest free, and now getting XuFeng on board.
