I have seen a lot of comments on other sm and here saying that Shi Oh deserved better… Like are we forgetting…
K-Drama makers are guilty of this because they do it in most of their dramas as a selling point. Even the drug business was made into a mockery. They brought up a serious issue but did not treat it properly. The whole antidote harvested from some sea creature is just crazy. They also did not show how detrimental the drugs can actually be to society, just touch based on the surface to get the story moving.
The "villain" here - and the actor playing him - is one of the worst I have seen. A guy looking like a college…
I am inclined to agree, the acting could be improved. What I liked was the premise of the character but it was a loose interpretation. I agree about the entire show becoming messy. After watching the first installment, which is still being watched by people, a lot of people had high expectations but it did not materialise. Thanks for the reply btw
I love how you brought out Vincenzo because he also is in an Italian mafia as their consigliere and the very first…
Thanks for the response. A great analogy about villain vs hero is depicted in M. Night Shymalan's Unbreakable. Vincenzo was a great series well written and executed. They had a clear theme and storyline. Each characters were well-defined also. The villains in the series were awesome, in the sense they were pure evil. i just hope this series was written better because female heroes / superheroes are rare.
Ning'er has became more and more like xie wei, even his personal guards are under her command. Should I called…
She has a free hand and the people in mansion are like set that she is the one for him. Just that XW is still calculating and busy scheming while indulging her scheming coz they both enjoy scheming. and plotting LOL
I find it disgusting to married ur first cousin as ur wife. Someone said in an ancient Chinese, you can married…
Yes in Asian culture it is quite common but this is like double maternal link, which is quite disturbing. Coz the emperor is half Xue and she is a Xue.
The only reason people are pro villain because he is the only character that has depth, shades and substance. For them to come up with such a villainous character, there is no equal hero to balance the equation. Despite people liking the villain, no one is thinking that he should get away with it, although i think some sort of self-sacrifice is due on his part for Nam Soon. This is inevitable.
It is like how people were rooting for Vincenzo even though he is an Italian mafia who kills people and is involved in shady business. But because he turned vigilante, all the past was cast aside . Here again you have a vigilante hero vs a sociopathic ruthless villain. They were at par to go head to head.
The problem with this show is overzealousness and silliness. Nam Soon is not a great hero character and neither are her mother or grandmother. They are all written and depicted poorly, which is a shame coz one would root for a badass female hero.
They have used drug cartel and trafficking backed by the Russian mob arc. This is such a serious issue but a potent enhancement drug with an antidote? Come on! This is just ridiculous.
None of it makes sense, firstly no police force will send a girl from outskirts of Mongolia for a covert operation of a drug cartel. That too she is unaware of anything and everything.
You know which show had a badass female hero, My Name, and mind you, so many people were crazy over the evil boss.
If they wanted to make a superhero movie, make the superhero likeable and believable instead of trying too hard.
When you have a great villain, you need a great superhero, this is the basic formula. Unfortunately Nam Soon isn't a well written character.
If you really want to watch an underdog hero taking down the giants, do watch Goliath starring Billy Bob Thornton. He takes down every evil existing from weapons manufacturers, to corrupted politicians, Mexican cartel, green industry that is detrimental to the environment and the opioid industry.
Actually this concept is quite close to the biblical/ Abrahamic punishment concept for suicide whereby the person who commits suicide will end up in hell for eternity in a loop experiencing the suicide over and over and over again.
What a spiteful, venomous, dark-hearted girl that XH is. Only good thing is that she got slapped around for once. Mind you this girl is nothing but Trouble, and she works fast as we see her punishing JXN. So much for the Emperor, he was like let's inbreed with my first cousin, who is my mom's niece?!! Really ?!! ewe!! Another good thing ZZ was a little off his righteous track by ignoring the rumours about the Xues, my my he has come a long. It is good that he got exempted from the three-year mourning period, otherwise he would have drown in sorrow. XW got him busy by getting him to work.
Ok 10 more episodes, we are eagerly waiting for XW and JXN romance. BTW this should renamed Story of the scheming by Xie Wei's disciples or The game of Chinese chess by XW and his fellow merry followers.
Can someone help me with this because I feel like I’m going nuts. I have this HUGE feeling of deja vu that I’ve…
There's the recommendation section with all the similar storyline. There are many dramas made where the girl wakes up and get a second chance. The most recent one is called 'What's wrong with my Princess?' So perhaps you have watched one of those dramas.
Just like the how the poster is cut in half, the premise of this show is a juxtaposition. Both mothers are stepmothers. One is evil and the other goes out of her way in favour of stepson Both girls are step sisters, one is selfless and nurturing, the other is selfish and cruel Both brothers are step brothers, one is giving and the other is filled with jealousy Both friends of the girls are also the opposite of each other, one friend (SML sis) is an opportunist and the other is sincere. Even the families, both are affluent but one is toxic and the other is grounded. The Taeja family are good judge of characters, they see people for what their worth while the Hans except Yi Joo are all about status and fake persona. There is also the contrast between the grandmother and the grandfather. Even the marriage the stark differences between the first husband and the second husband.
The point is of the show reflects how the choices we make in our lives leads to the outcome we have. Both FL and ML chose to keep silent for the wrongdoings of others, and paid the price with their lives, But when they finally found the courage to stand up for themselves, their destinies and their paths changed. If you allow people to walk all over you and not stand up for yourself, you have only yourself to blame. This is why the person one must love first is themselves. Much like when that ajumma in the cooking class slapped FL, she slapped back. You only get what you give.
The female actors have done a fab job in the series. Yoo Min can really express with her eyes and Ji Hee is just great because I really hate her character, she managed to give a sociopathic colour to Yoo Ra, The evil stepmother nonchalantly spews venom, the acting is on point. The mother in law is another great character, just love how she rationale in her judgments of people and their actions. Credit goes to all the women in the series, all characters represents someone we know or seen or heard. Unfortunately the men in the show to me seems like the side characters but still all of each represents a set of people.
emotionally constipated had me ROLFHe does not know how to make the move , and gets trolled by his men LOL! Find…
That's is because she is so hung up on ZZ, I mean two lifetimes of loving the same person but cannot be with him, I guess must be tough.
As for the hug I think it is because they already have a rapport especially with their treacherous journey to the capital, the hug is more like for her a teacher comforting a student or someone older and familiar comforting her. There is also the fact she saved his life by giving her blood, so are they like blood brothers... errr... ok maybe not.
I guess it's just familiarity. But for XW it was not as it was out of his character, just that he has not come to terms with his feelings or does not understand why he feels as such for her. JXN for now does not have a clue, she is neither here nor there, living between the past and present to change the future.
This drama is supposed to be about villains Vs Hero. The origin story for both the villain and hero is that they were orphaned / abandoned Villain had a tragic hard life in abusive environment while hero had a loving positive upbringing. As such the choices and their path are the result of their past. Heroes grow up to make sure others don't suffer the same fate while the villain grows up to ensure people pay for the pain they have caused. Makes should have kept the story simple instead of overzealous unnecessary plots.
From a medical perspective abused children end up having toxic stress . If they grew up in a violent environment chances are they can end up being violent themselves. But a lot end up depression, anxiety, illnesses and suicidal. Positive reinforcement can help but early intervention is the best to help them with their traumas. From a neuroscience point of view, the MRI of an abused child is much smaller compared to a child living a positive environment. This is has to do with the development of the brain. So if you ever suspect a child is being abused, don't hesitate to help.
my boy xie wei was flabbergasted . cat ate his tongue. He just wanted to spend time with her but he is emotionally…
emotionally constipated had me ROLF He does not know how to make the move , and gets trolled by his men LOL! Find someone suitable was actually "It's gonna be me"
The only show where everybody is just watching for the villain and his scenes while skipping most of the others. Seriously they gave him such a tragic background , a traumatised victim of human trafficking aabused boy who grew into the dark side. To top it off, they had to make him the most attractive character in the series. How are they expecting people not to root for him?
