I believe I have stated that comparing is indeed unavoidable, but with the way the story started in the drama, it is quite impossible to wish it to have the same ending like in the novel.
And for the cheeseburgers analogy, I just want to point out that sometimes our subjectivity towards one thing will create one judgment : the thing that is not suitable for my taste is not good.

The drama is indeed based on the popular novel, but it was made to be different from the novel on purpose.
If the drama was made exactly like the novel, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have got the NRTA permission from the first place. It would have been shelved perfectly without having a chance to be broadcast at all.
I just hope, wish, that everyone can respect and appreciate the difference wholeheartedly, because respecting and appreciating the drama means respecting and appreciating the entire crew, from the lowest level to the highest one.
Let us respect and appreciate both the novel and the drama equally.

Honestly speaking... I have a great empathy for this series. Many people compare it to the book [which is unavoidable] and badmouth it, saying that this series doesn't bring any justice to the book, doesn't depict the book at all, etc.. etc...
Despite the limitations that they have to face, either from the government or budgeting thingy, the whole crew have managed to pull through and created such a great story.
Adaptation doesn't have to be largely similar, does it?
I personally prefer the series mainly because of less horror and gore elements, and the characters were more humane. Even some of the door-gods were created as a broken-hearted human beings, and lots of lessons to learn.
There is a big difference storyline between the book and the series, and when you mix them up together, all you can get is disappointment and confusion.
One is about 'game-world' adventures, the other one is about 'netherworld' adventures, and of course, definitely, absolutely, obviously the ending would be different.
The series' ending, it is indeed really bittersweet but still understandable why it had to be ended that way. I just wish that they made the ending 10-15 longer.
I think both the book and the series have their own strengths and weaknesses but still can be enjoyed to the fullest.
