First things first, I'm a complete fool for CW and you guys should know I've been dying to watch this drama. Now, if you're biased of the SHOW already, please don't even bother reading this comment because I don't need the blind criticism on my ////OPINION////.
To everyone else with an objective view, was I the only one with a terrible first impression?
Not on the story or the acting (so far) but... it kinda looks indie? As in... poor production? Not that I mind that in general but... action AND poor production just DON'T go well together.
Anyone comparing this to Healer will have to fight me because the action (gotta say I'm very very EXTREMELY detailist when it comes to action scenes though) is 85% off imo and I know Changwook CANNOT be the problem so it has to be direction, editing, angles... idk, something!
The music doesn't sound fitting imo as well... although it's great, it sounds a bit too overdramatic at times and... Woah! A+ to the fact he breaks a 10mm impecable glass with a screwdriver by tossing it from 3ft away! Way to go writers! Is this fantasy? I didn't realize.
On a minor note, the spanish actors might as well come from a porn acting agency - if those exist, that is. I had to check in on the floor when "cop guy" smirked devilish. lol
I don't want to be quick to judge, I was just hoping for better quality but, if that's all we'll get, I'll lower my standards for The K2 so I can be fair to it as it is. Hopefully it's just a pilot thing! ; u ;
So far I haven't seen much improvement in Im Yoona's acting but I'm so thrilled watching the other 3. *-* Some close ups are really on spot and brought my heart eyes out, especially Song Yoon Ah's!
And let's not mention the constant overuse of CW's glorious arms in low cut... can one even call that clothing?! Jisoos saves us all, what is mercy! OTL
SPOILER for those who haven't watched ep 9!!! Anyone who wants to see the full kiss scene *blush*....check this…
This is a brilliant analysis! I'll have to rewatch the whole thing to try and capture everything you said. I wasn't hoping for a romantic kiss since the fact she likes someone else alone would be enough to spoil that attempt. I also didn't feel terrorized by the fact it was forced since I'm aware about the historical context, he's in a higher position therefore he wasn't taught to respect the"lowly born" to put it that way, any other girl back then would be thrilled to be kissed by a prince but she's from the future and all that is simply absurd in her reality and all else. I really didn't even pay much attention to the kiss. In my pov it was just an honest and desperate mistake as he attempts to express feelings he never had before therefore he doesn't know how to act or what to say so he just... Did it. It felt fitting but it was no big deal imo.
All lot of people are hating on IU's acting and if you see the amount of upvotes on those hate comments, its like…
Don't worry, love. I never said you were lying or hating, I was agreeing with you. ^-^ I don't know anything about rumours, I like IU's voice but only few of her songs and she doesn't seem to be someone trustworthy in my perspective for some reason I can't quite grasp but that gives me no reason to hate on her. She is very talented and undeniably beautiful too. People out there who do bash on other people with or without a reason, famous or not, are sick and they should be the ones getting what they wish others would.
So many children starving in the world and those worthless pieces of crap get their kick out of harming strangers... Whatever happened to values.
Just when things are going well for Wang So, his mother then comes ruining them. Not to mention Hae So blaming…
A+ for hope, sweetie! XD I'm with you on this.
My guess (hope, actually), is that... well... History is in the making. She's there, there are other people from the future there too and they're changing the course of it, bit by bit. Wang So wasn't meant to make it through the ritual. He only ever made it because she helped him - there's a change. Otherwise, Wang Yo would've made it instead and he would be the face she'd see (I'm guessing whoever brought the rain would be in their way to become Gwangjong).
A single tiny thing changed can alter everything - it's the theory of chaos. We all know Wang Yo is an antagonist therefore it would make sense that he was to become Gwangjong and Wang So is too damaged, furthermore if Hae Soo keeps rejecting him like that (but he is good, he likes his brothers). They're the obvious candidates for that spot but... as for me, I'm hoping it's Wook. I don't know how they would make it possible or even why at this point but... wouldn't that be the perfect plot twist? *-* To put a safe dramatic end to WookSoo (</3) and let rise SoSoo's romance. I'm so obsessed with this idea I hope they do it. >u<
Then again I'm guessing her sight is right but she will change him through her love and all that jazz we're all tired of seeing. *sight* :(
All lot of people are hating on IU's acting and if you see the amount of upvotes on those hate comments, its like…
I can't even believe these are real facts, honestly. IU is doing an amazing job imo all things considered. Comparing her acting to Suzy's in UF..., dang, she would deserve that Oscar alright. She isn't brilliant but I don't see any outstanding flaws so far? Her fear was pretty convincing to me, what wasn't convincing was the fact she needed to be that afraid and that shouldn't go on her account last time I checked - she only does what the writers/director tell her to. Some people just can't tell the difference between character and acting, it seems.
I was going to write a review but I changed my mind because 1) it would suck anyway since I am absolutely 101% in love with every single aspect of this drama and 2) there are fair and great reviews already so it's all good.
I really can't even put my finger on a particular theme to go on because "Age of Youth" is simply my current top favorite drama. All the characters are amazing, some great acting is shown, the comedy is on spot, their stories are solid and well developed and the romance is heart warming.
I've noticed friendship themed anything tends to grow freely in my heart (like animes A-Channel and K-On! to mention a couple) so if you have any recs, send them my way pleeeeeeeease!
The review was helpful, but it doesn't really sound like the "9" that you rated it. I think you explained…
@kingsqueen Oh my, now that you mentioned it I see... hahaha It totally doesn't suit the 9 rate because I spoke too much of the flaws... but I'm absolutely in love with this drama, don't be fooled. I was just too disappointed by the meh ending they gave it so I guess that's why I sound like I flipped a 6 grade. XD
It's kinda messy too, I don't follow a routine on these but I was just trying not to spoil anything for those who might want to start it since most reviews come with 32803491 spoilers.
Go for it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Even more, actually! ^-^
Glad to know I wasn't the only one disappointed by the ending. I didn't have any expectations or anything but…
You just showed me a bigger gap then since there's a major contradiction because the webtoon world clearly stops when it "ends" with Cheol in the river and then it doesn't in the end.
Funny you say that because you didn't answer any questions I made. Perhaps because there's no way since the drama did NOT provide them at all, you must've imagined them and as much as I'd appreciate the scrolls (lol), I'd be satisfied with the endings of the second leads that simply got NO closure as if they never really had any relevance.
Also, you really need a chill pill, lady, because I never said this drama was nearly bad (in fact I love it) nor that I was expecting a particular type of ending, sheesh. Why are you getting over defensive over something as trivial as this? Hate to break it up to you but your OPINION matters as much as mine.
If you like the ending, good for you. Go party with that 5%, won't you? Instead of giving the rest of us a headache with your constant bragging and off topic analysis...
I see you all over the page judging people for THEIR opinion and some things were highlighted in neon lights which makes me wonder... someone sooooo educated, old enough to be retired, with selective standards and - OBVIOUSLY - from such a higher level than everyone else around here should have better things to do other than try and undervalue younger people for their "ignorance-slash-inexperience", huh? Shame on you. Do you get your kick out of this? Shouldn't you be exercizing your comprehension and setting the example to the younger ones (or... I don't know, baking cookies maybe???) instead of trying to prove to random strangers all over the world just how SMART and SUPERIOR you are? There are still plenty dramas to watch, you know. Get busy.
I am really liking this but the scenes without Wang So are so dull and boring to the point it feels like a different…
HAHAHAHAHAHA I'm so touched by your devotion! XD It wasn't criticism on his behavior though, since I also like that kind of character - AND HIS WEAKNESS OH MY GOD - and when I say I like gentlemen it's a personal taste of mine, not really character-wise since I tend to love the "jerk" type or the "messy" one who can't get anything right despite his attempts. n_n
And I understand because when there's WookSoo I'm on the floor and when there's SoSoo I'm on the screen, it's so torturing for me! T A T I can't keep rooting for both but I YELL out of frustration when I see So's heart eyes and I just die a little anticipating how things will turn out. *-* aopkdpaks Summing up, I'm just enjoying this ship before it sinks (because it will, very soon, and I'm hoping for a great turn out of events instead of the obvious one) And that ending... woah. Bless IU and her talent and huge expressive eyes, just bless! This drama is killing me. OTL
Glad to know I wasn't the only one disappointed by the ending. I didn't have any expectations or anything but…
@JCDRANZER Comparisons apart, I agree. Especially since, when Kang Cheol gets shot by Cheol Ho, her father recovers his senses perfectly and works around the "loose ends" to give them the happy ending but wasn't that no longer needed? It felt really weird in my perspective because it seemed that, when Cheol Ho shot the gun, HE became the antagonist, letting Yeon Joo's father off the hook. That's why he ceased disappearing and went back to normal. Don't you think? What else would explain his recovery?
And then he's back to fading when he kills Cheol Ho but he did so as the author and not personally. Even so, if he had returned to the real world and done it from there, it would be perfectly explained that things went back to regular and he wouldn't have to disappear - he wasn't a character just because he gave one his face, and the whole face thing - although amazing - is still... kinda odd, imo but that can pass.
The ending simply lacks that closure feeling.

BUT WOOK, YES, HE'S UP TO SOMETHING AND I HOPE IT'S THAT THING I WAS TELLING YOU ABOUT - I'M SORRY I HAD TO SHOUT!!!!!

Yeah, I noticed. Jeez. No more on that from my part, though.
P.S.: I know right! I just did the same! lol MDL should have that fixed.

We all know who the main couple is, people just need to hold on a bit and let me swoon over WookSoo before it's over. T A T
BYUUUUUUUL! Did you hear the news about our JiSoo? ;;
