So in this episode TY explained that she freed his soul from the tree, when she burned it 10 years ago.
Is his soul now different from what is called the neidan in the novel? So did they change that plot from the novel? Or is that still in line with the novel plot? So why could she use the power? It seemed after she touched the tree, accidently, it was somehow activated.

Question for novel readers...

So many emotions this episode. Those elf children were funny, but really tragic that their parents died 20 years ago.
Of course, he blames himself. I think when he forgives himself and accepts her love and his love for her, he'll be able to pull out the sword.
And how good is she dealing with her feelings? I mean the fox insence incident was an indication, but she is really an optimistic straight forward person. I hope he caves in soon, I don't want her disheartened, because of his actions.
The trailer for the next episode looks really good, too. The elves have accepted him as their dragon king. And BXS is back and helps create jealousy in TY. This time for real.

That scene was like a dream or illusion anyway. So not sure if that is what really happened. Also it was meant to show his fears, so it was probably exaggerated or only showed the bad things. I think YH and TY will help him overcome his past issues, and he will be there for them, when it counts the most.

First of all Riley is so perfect in this. Being the dorky comic relief, shipper of the main couple. But also shows the serious sides.

Although he showed the main couple his supporting side, let's not forget he has a hidden agenda. That couple's trial that he does for like 10 years already. And he didn't have any problems killing that failing couple. Who knows how many he killed before. He needs them for something and his testing them was also dangerous in the arena. He helped them in the end, but that's still for his gain.
Seeing his tragic backstory, there will be more to unfold. How he grew up and how bad his life was. In another drama it could be the main leads backstory.
I think a bit like Wenkexing from Word of Honor. Being a good character that had to do really bad things to survive.
Now you can see that he begins to care for YH. Not because of the trial, but because she cares for him as a person. I hope they keep it platonic or like the sml that helps the main couple. And I think they will help him also.

Ok, my thoughts on Bai Xiao Sheng so far...

They are really cute. And that they showed them as real children was cute, too. But heartbreaking, when you remember from the first episode how they died trying to save his scales. And he told them to go away.

I don't think that he has to betray her to get it, because she was always willing to give it. I guess he thinks he can heal her, so that she can live, and promises that to her. But then he can't and probably Bai Xiao Sheng needs to give her evil aura to save her and thus she demonizes or devilizes, I don't know the difference. And then TY has to find another way to save her. And getting her love back. That are just my guesses from some scenes on trailers and outro.

Makes us forget that he already kinda kissed her under water, when he gave her air. And she suspected something.

Maybe like in the starry love the ml caveman version. Only he got betrayed, but got the girl.

Could she wield that sword? She seems pure enough.
Oh, no I guess the sword is the reason he needs the scale from her later. So he is strong enough to defeat the villains and protect everyone. The burden of a hero, sacrifice something or someone for others.

Like a kind ruler. I think that's why the betrayal from Suying hit so hard.
I mean she could have fought him openly (probably not,that's why she did it), but imagine, how much she must have acted to get him to that wedding day. And in her mind she probably felt disgusted, she was a spirit hunter for so many years. I can't imagine it. He must have been really naive or innocent.

The only thing I don't like much in general is that the female villains have always emotional motivations. Here seeming crazy and doing everything for the one she loves. Then always the women doing bad things, because ml doesn't like them, but he should in their opinion. I wished there would be more substance.

Yes, if you really don't like them, the actors did a great job as villains. I like to watch their bts, so I can see them smile and have a good relationship with the others.

Do you think he believed that to be true or he was lying to her in that situation to get her to help him? I'm not so sure. I rewatched it, too. My guess is that he was on the water trying to break the barrier. And was hurt by that or tired out, when he was hit by the power surge. Then he knew his scale was being used. And he brought her there without knowing that she couldn't even use it. And that's why he needed her hearts blood later.

He was definitely not sad about it.
