As many probably, I started watching this right away, after TTEOTM ended. Normally I try to wait for a couple of episodes, but I got sucked in now. Also liked the actress since word of honor and happy that she is the lead here. She shows a good balance between silly and serious scenes. In the outro you can see her kind of demoness look and she looks great there, too. The first episode was almost too silly and with that strange vfx, but it's not as bad in the other episodes for me. I like that they did the love potion trope differently as usual. She didn't throw herself into his arms, but just had those feelings about him. And could resist them, just accepted them and acted normal in spite of them. So she and TY never found out about that until that guy came with the antidote. And she just forgave him. I like how Neo plays TY. He is so stoic, but you can notice those glances he gives her. Those looks and smiles he only has for her. And that is not even romantic, but more of in a developing friendship kind of way. Although both have their own motives why they are on this journey together, he recognizes her as this good person that wants to help him and others. And for him, who suffered this huge betrayal and loss of himself, that is a huge amount of trust. And I have to add he looks really great with this long hairstyle. From all the scenes shown in the outro I'm afraid and excited that we will suffer a rollercoaster of emotions just like TTEOTM, although this has at least a lot of comedy and, fingers crossed, a satisfying happy ending.
Meiko wanted a family, a family that loved her and she found it with her two best friends. She wanted that family…
I think you mentioned interesting plot points here. The story feels so real, the action of the characters is mostly for selfish reasons. Their endings are not happy ones in my opinion, but settling for something and with a lot of regret. I mean in the end Makio could have a happier ending with asato, if their relationship develops with deeper feelings. Eiji had all the family pressure with his personal and work life, where he didn't follow his heart, but did what others wanted from him. He said he liked Mieko, but I think it's still only platonic. He had a real " brokeback mountain moment", when he cried in this shirt. And Mieko has a daughter from this situation, but what do they do when that daughter grows up and moves out? Do they still stay together, because society expects that from them? Are they content with a kife that doesn't have this kind of love that Eiji and Makio had? Eiji's dad was selfish. His reason that he didn't want his son being discriminated against and abused was so narrow minded. Why not hope that society would change and support your son against such people. Of course, he wanted a grandchild, but yeah, it could have been that Eiji was infertile. The ending was deserving that Mieko and Eiji were kinda stuck in their life and I was rooting for Makio and Asato to be truly in a relationship.
I like the progress and the tone of the series so far. It feels real, not too exaggerated as in other shows. Although that Jong Chan rented the whole place where they ate and watched the movie was a bit too much. You wouldn't do that in real life. I would feel a lot of pressure, if someone did that for our first date. Despite that Jong Chan has the same concerns as anyone. Does he like me? Do I work too much? What can I do for him? On the other hand, Seung Hyun is inexperienced, but wants to know more about him, what is important to him. You can see that they fit and will support eachother in their worklife as well.
Small easter egg, they both ate pasta, but neither of them likes it. Seung Hyun pretended to like it before, because Yoo Seong liked it. When the three of them had lunch together Yoo Seong mentioned it, so Jong Chan was trying to be considerate of Seung Hyun and also pretended to like it. It shows that you can overthink some things and mostly it is better to be yourself and communicate about things like that. I don't know if it will be mentioned in the show as well later, but it was interesting for me. I think a lot of us have done so as well pretending to like something our lover likes, be it food or other things. And how great it is when you reached that level when you can be honest with eachother.
In the webtoon Na Yoo Seong dated Kim Jong Chan. One day he asked Seung Hyun to help him choose a birthday gift for his boyfriend. So he actually came up with the pen as a gift and was with him when he bought it. So he recognized it easily. That was also the event that made him realize that he had to move on from his crush. He was really heartbroken. And seeing that pen was just a shock from the past for him, the same when he met Yoo Seong again. But they will get over it pretty quickly. I don't think it will be more than 1 episode, because the series isn't that long I think.
Has Alchemy of Souls been renewed for season 3?At the time of writing, tvN and Netflix have not renewed Alchemy…
I would like to see a special movie with an event that brings all the main characters together. Or they could do a spinoff series, because there is so much to this world. Or maybe like house of dragon a prequel, events from 200 years ago. You kind of know what happens, but you don't know the characters and actions really. I would watch that.
I loved that it was a happy ending. So much angst after the 9th episode was unreal. I want a season 3 or special movie of them hunting the relics and having a daughter in the end. And everyone back at daeho together for a gathering, maybe the king's wedding.
A bit of critcism is that they could have shown Naksu's badass fighting again. I missed that. She should have her abilites again I think. Also, the villains died too easily I guess. But in the end it was important that Uk saved the day and our mc was rewarded with a happy ending. The reborn Seol-Ran was a kind of last minute save with all her doing and knowledge. But I'll take it as it is.
When Uk said to Jin Mu he is the only non shifter of the villains I knew he will shift eventually. So obviously he won't die in that forest. But he doesn't have any soul ejectors anymore right? So how will he help the king and those evil assembly guys? Or does he need the ice stone from Uk?
When master Lee guessed that Seol-Ran chose Uk and the girl, did he refer to Naksu? Like when Naksu wanted to use aos with the other girl, mudeok/buyeon intercepted it. But it was kind of coincidence that she met her there. Or she knew she would be there?
I just hope that Uk and Naksu live with maybe Buyeon/Seol-Ran giving her the body and going back to the ice stone or maybe into her baby (after the wedding night). Or that both die and are together in the ice stone world. They would have stayed in gwibo if they didn't have to save the world.
I don’t want to judge how people express themselves but it’s a little concerning to me how some people are…
We experienced the same trauma. I watched a few xianxia cdrama with 40+ episodes with really upsetting endings. Now I prefer to wait for completed series and confirmation of the ending. Exceptions are shows like AOS that are too good to wait and I like to experience with the community here with all the discussions about it.
Spoiler ahead!Episode 3 & 4 were awesome. I loved all 3 - Van, Miho and Yohan. Yohan drinking scene where Miho…
I also liked those episodes because you can see kind of a developement in the story. I haven't read the webtoon, so I'm not sure about Yohan's abilities. In the forest he seemed weak or weaker against the monster. Then against Van he was much stronger, seemed to have more than human strength, could jump higher etc. I'm not sure about his easy going attitude, maybe it's supposed to be him pretending and then being focussed when he fights or does exorcism. He did fight against Van, so Miho will eventually remember her past and her powers. But I'm looking forward to all three connencting and working together later. If that is what the story will be about.
I didn't think I would like the series after yet another new set of actors for known characters from the 2 moons series. And even a new mc. Of course I wanted to know what happened or happens to the known characters. That was probably the draw for many to watch this series. Without that they they could have made a standalone series with the mc and that would have been much better, because I ended up liking this couple very much. I liked that the really good looking Tatch was so head over heels into Lom, it was kind of ridiculous. Lom was sometimes cute, most of the time really silly, but really with a good heart. That's why he probably got talked into representing his faculty in the first place, while knowing he won't win. And how they became a couple was really shown well. Lom went from being a virgin to them doing it all the time. I'm not complaining. There was almost no drama for them besides the Phanon Pharak stuff that ended in this ridiculous kidnapping and Tatch winning. The most annoying was the side couples quarrels. Some was ok, some was really unnecessary. I don't think the actor for Pha fit the role that much and he had the most screentime of the og couples. On the other hand I wouldn't mind seeing the TatchLom couple again, maybe in a special episode. And Danny maybe in another more challenging role to see if he can act as good as he looks. Would I recommend watching this? Yes, especially for the main couple. And you can always skip some parts.
So they met and the CP doesnt wear an eunuch outfit. So why she still thinks that he is eunuch? 😅
I think at that point she is just oblivious to that. Also, when she met the Eunuchs with the turtle they confirmed that the turtle belonged to that eunuch Oh or Go. So she wouldn't suspect him to be the CP, until someone will call him that in front of her probably.
I understand that support characters are here having their own importance in the main leads lives! But here CP…
I think CP has a complicated situation with being a member of the royal family. All the scheming and trying to maintain his position. He has to look out for himself unless he is going to be "replaced" one way or another. It is how he was raised and his experience with Jin Mu and those soul shifters shows there aren't a lot of people he can really trust. I'm on Buyeon's side that he is a good person deep down. And I hope he will do the right thing in the end.
It looks like she will find it among Yul's belongins while treating him. He probably wrote his crime confession…
Yeah, that's what I think, too. And her maid is as annoying as her, when talking to Buyeon. Those characters like Yoon Ok always think they deserve the main lead more, because they care for them and stay by their side, instead they are selfish und should give up and find someone else that loves them.
Well, master Lee never lies. But he frequently withholds information. Also, he was talking to himself alone while…
That is why I think he doesn't know everything. He did know about Uk's king star, but he didn't know exactly how Uk would survive when Mudeok stabbed him. Or if he is going to become king is not set in stone. I just hope there will be a loophole for them.
I agree! I was like, "has she now become a pervert?"
Oh, I thought it was her desire to jump into a body that is young and beautiful. Like that is her only concern right now, how hideous she looks or especially like the person that kept her as a prisoner barely alive for how long. And the royal family is mostly shown as selfish and power hungry people. I wouldn't be surprised if she turns for real in the end.
My guess is that there is more to naksu's resurrection than we know of. Master Lee is a very unreliable source as we have seen with what he told Buyeon's mother. I don't think he knows the whole extend of his spell, either. I don't even know that it is true that Mudeok's soul is really gone. I mean their connection was more than the alchemy of souls that Naksu intended. And her soul has been dormant in her body while Naksu was there in season 1, but when there was danger that one time she was able to help. Maybe Uk and Buyeon/Naksu are able to use the power of the ice stone together so that both can live. And the fire bird better save Yul ,without destroying the world, or I am gonna be so sad. So-i redeemed herself at least for Yul. I don't know if dying for the one you love is the best outcome for her. Probably. She chose to save him, he tried to save her. Our mc will also choose the other one, that's for sure, but I hope for a happy ending and not them dying together or something like that.
I agree with you, if it is implied that first love also means when you were younger and didn't know what real love was about. She was already training for her revenge and when she knew who he was she left. She wouldn't kill him, even later he had a special place in her heart, when she kept the bird he gave to her.
I liked the first episode. I read the webtoon and I am curious how much they will change. Probably they will not show as much nc scenes like the uncensored one. But I like the over all office romance theme. Seems there are some good office romances airing right now. I didn' t imagine his senior crush like that actor, but we'll see. The only critcism I have is him in the preview for episode 2...in the flashback why does he have this mushroom hair? Why? Didn't he have a mirror? Or hairgel? I'm so over that hairstyle with glasses to show the character as shy, nerdy guy, when you can see how good he would look styled differently.
Reminds me of "secret crush on you" , when the main lead was styled good and his love interest didn't like it, because others hit on him. So he had the mushroom hair again.
Because it's short I finished it in one day. I liked the couples, loved the switching between languages. So cool. Not many plot turns, but really good chemistry between the 3 couples. They could have toned down the sister a bit. She was slightly annoying. I liked the big bro couple most. I read they are doing a sequel probably. And I am looking forward to it.
Ok. After rewatching the series I take back some of my criticism. The MC did talk in episode 11 about the parents and what they would do if they won't approve. And Bai Lang said to Jin Xun An not to break off the relationship and to see how they would feel about it. So him trusting him and forgiving him for ignoring him for weeks in order to get his parent's approval, I get that now. To show the parent- child relationship with begging by kneeling and getting beaten with a stick was a poor choice for that more light hearted romance imho. There was no solution why the father gave in. Because he was so persistent? I hope it was not meant as an example for the real life. I would have liked more talking about it. And maybe his mother showing more support than offering a pillow for his knees.
Then, I didn't mind the sister and Ye Qui Ran getting together anymore. She did say to her brother that he was a great guy, when they talked about him. I think the kid was the biggest draw for her anyway as it was shown how they instantly clicked, she even wanted him at the rehearsel. The question was why that was in the plot. I guess the series wanted an overall happy ending for the siblings. So they took away screentime from all the other couples, which of course made some of us upset.
On a side note, I realized Lang wears his ring on the left and and Xun An on the right hand? Is that normal for Taiwan? Or what does it mean? And they are the first couple where I'm not so sure who is top or bottom. Maybe some of you can answer my questions. I'm off to watching the first episode of the new recruit..love that story.
Also liked the actress since word of honor and happy that she is the lead here.
