I usually love the vibes JBL's brings and this one was one of them, though it wasn't perfect. It was decently good. I like when BL's have that criminal/mafia tone to them but they're also romantic, it's like tragic trauma meets love. I think this could've been improved with maybe not making the main focus the fact that Odajima's friend died, though I get that was the whole purpose on him chasing after Kataoka, it felt like the same scenes were used as fillers for a story we already knew. I also wish there was a bit more chemistry, and that Episode 1 didn't start off with Odajima getting r4p3d by Kataoka. People seriously need to stop normalizing SA and r4p3 as "love" and romance. But yeah, other than that just wish it had slightly more depth and more chemistry.
I really liked the chemistry and how much of a slow burn it was even though it was short, but I have yet to find a unique short series, the story is very mediocre and there isn't much excitement until maybe the last episode or so, also the conflict felt rushed and like it was decided last minute, but overall not a bad watch just minor flaws. Def a cute watch and something to kill some time. I will say the actors are beautiful.
Story wise it was very very basic, nothing too crazy, I liked the chemistry and the slow pacing in the relationship regardless of how little time we had, with just 4 episodes each about 15 min long they managed to make it more of a slow burn which is a common pattern with Secret Of Us, and I love that. But yeah there isn't too much to this short series, very basic. Nice watch to kill some time.
The poster for this drama is honestly misleading. I expected some kind of love triangle or intentional romantic tension, but instead the main source of conflict ends up being a homophobic, immature character whose role is to threaten outing people. The story follows Jung Woo and Jun Hee, two longtime friends and lovers who are scouted by an entertainment company with a strict no-dating rule for three years. To protect their debut, they’re forced to hide and publicly end their relationship. A third member, Alex, is later added, and the three debut as the group Deep Blue. Rather than adding depth, his involvement mostly fuels jealousy and unnecessary conflict that overshadows the romance. Told through very short episodes, the pacing is surprisingly well spaced out compared to other short BL's, and the chemistry between the two main characters was there with the great kiss scenes, there were some unrealistic things like Alex becoming more mature and "innocent" like after he outed both his group members, I think people can't change overnight or even in a few weeks to months, and just adding glasses on someone doesn't make them "innocent". While the premise had potential especially with idol culture and secret relationships, I think it just wasn't anything too crazy, I wouldn't necessary recommend but its also not really a waste of time, just a casual watch. It’s not terrible, but it’s very average. Fine for a quick watch, just not particularly memorable. Rating: 6.5/10
Holy freakatron, this is so unrealistic, IF... sculptures came to life they sure as hell wouldn't know how to fuck before knowing how to talk, makes no sense to me... pls, Flying Penguin has made some interesting BL's fsssss
First of all, I had to watch it on YouTube because it was basically hiding from every other platform. The video quality was so bad it felt like I was watching from 10 feet away with uncorrected eyesight. At some point the audio just straight-up gave up halfway through multiple episodes, so I was left relying entirely on subtitles while trying to guess the tone, mood, and emotional intensity like it was a pop quiz. To be fair, this part isn’t the original creators’ fault, whoever uploaded it secondhand didn't even try, the prob screen recorded with an iPod. Now onto the series itself. Even without the technical chaos, there were a lot of noticeable shortcomings. The acting was… very inconsistent. At times it would improve by maybe 20%, just enough to give me hope, and then immediately drop back into rookie-level delivery. The pacing was rushed to the point where emotions barely had time to exist before the next plot point was thrown at us. Nothing was allowed to breathe, words, reactions, or feelings. The story itself felt way faster than it needed to be, even for a short series. Everything just kind of happened with no real buildup. I also felt zero chemistry between the main characters. Overall, it came across as very low quality. That said, I don’t think this story is beyond saving. With better resources, stronger direction, and proper acting lessons, this could’ve genuinely been a banger. As for the ending… The classic ghost trope strikes again. A “doppelgänger” just somehow passing by as if that’s the same person, when it very clearly isn’t. Different body, different person. We connect through the soul, not the appearance. Let’s be serious. In short: lots of potential, very messy execution, and definitely in need of improvement. 6/10
I can see they tried to be like an indie film, and I liked the cinematography aspect of it and loved the music. But the acting was not it for me, they felt so emotionless while acting and the voice over was trippy. Like it wasn't bad but sometimes the voice over would shift from place A to place B and it was just odd. I also didn't get the meaning (if it had any) towards the yellow balloon that kept popping up. As for the name, not sure if this was the meaning towards it but Tuberose (a flower) symbolizes sensuality, passion, and dangerous love due to its intoxicating fragrance, I think if thats why its called Tuberose, then it fits well, because of the story. Not a horrible film it just lacked some stuff that were crucial. I will give an A+ for music and cinematography. Definitely a D for story, emotion, acting and just not being able to submerge myself in the film. Rating 6.5/10
Okay maybe I don't like using brain as well - can someone pls explain to me, why is it called Tuberose? thank…
Not too sure either but it could be because the flower Tuberose symbolizes sensuality, passion, and dangerous love due to its intoxicating fragrance. Which I think fits this story.
It's comforting knowing I'm not the only one feeling like this, I just finished writing my own review and I read urs and u wrote literally exactly what I wrote. So I agree 100% with everything, this is plainly just a mediocre vampire story.
I agree with you, I just started watching and I was hoping for tension and slow burn mostly since they're childhood friends, I thought I had won the lottery with this one but I'm kind of disappointed. Ever since episode 1, we didn't have even a second of slow burn they really just jumped into it. I'm already in episode 5 and bro they've done everything.
I’ve seen a good handful of Pink films by now, and I think it’s safe to say they’re not really my cup of tea. I’m a romance fan at heart, I like watching characters connect, fall in love, and build chemistry, not just jump straight into endless NSFW scenes. So, with Ai no Tame ni Ikite: I Want You, I found myself once again kind of… shrugging.
Story-wise, there isn’t much to hold onto. The film is clearly more interested in being erotic than in developing characters or relationships. And hey, if that’s what you’re into, it definitely delivers. But if you’re like me and you need the emotional build-up, the slow burn, the payoff of love and intimacy, this one probably won’t do it for you.
From a more neutral perspective, I’d say it succeeds as a soft-core erotic film—it knows its audience and caters to them. But personally, it left me wishing for something more heartfelt. For me, it lands at a 6/10.
Super sad film, but I'm glad it had a good ending for both. Poor Light he deserved so much better, I would love to have a longer movie or maybe a full series but sadly I don't see that happening, I just hope Light is able to be happy as he deserves. 7.5/10
I loved it! It's short and sweet and wholesome! No conflict, no unnecessary drama, no nothing. Just pure love and 3 wholesome friends growing up together, 2 of which have secret feelings for each other that they must figure out on their own. I loved the slow burn, and I loved the way everything was approached. I just felt so comfortable in every episode and anytime either of the 2 ml would get close or make a move my heart would start beating. Mind you I watched this as a quick watch before bed so I would go from feeling sleeping to my heart beating so fast and waking me up of how cute those 2 were. Seriously this series is so comfy and light. I loved how I could feel the warmth of summer through the screen, with a hint of soft breeze and nature scents through the atmosphere. They portrayed summer really well, and the cinematography was amazing. I would love to have a side story where No Jeon Su is the main actors, I would also like to see where his love story goes :) Maybe we can get that in the future, who knows? Anyway, there isn't a specific order to watch this but I feel like watching "Nameless Season" Ep 1-2, then "The Most Handsome Couple in Our School", then "Close To You" Ep 1-2, go back to "Nameless Season" Ep 3 and finish the whole series. That was the story makes a bit more sense, in the sense of timeline. Ofc after you're done go back to "Close To You" and finish the other stories, they're pretty good as well! Again it's not necessary but me being a super organized person, if I had this order it would make things a little bit easier to understand. But yeah, overall 8.5/10 I loved it!
It's not bad but there isn't much to it. I liked that it was short and loved the cinematography to it, really liked the rainy comfy day vibe, and when they were outside I liked seeing the city. But story wise it wasn't much, just 2 men that are friends with benefit and hookup once a year I believe and one is falling for the other, or both are, but one is in denial. It was a very simple story, the ending caught me off guard a bit lol they knew what they were doing. Overall 7/10.
There's something so captivating about religious queer films or series, I think the fact that it's such a forbidden thing makes it so beautiful yet sad. I myself am an atheist, never really was religious though religion was talked about here and there by my family, it wasn't really pushed upon me in any way. Lately religion has been a huge topic in my life, I've had discussion and an arguments over it with believers and non-believers. But regardless, my view on this short film is gonna be different than someone who is a strict religious person or something who is religious but open minded. For me, I think this depicts what happens to a lot of queer people who are raised or who are religious. It's such a shame to have to see loving someone regardless of gender as a sin or a shameful thing. Because it isn't. And I think thats what makes this so captivating, the fact that it's such a forbidden love type of thing, such a forbidden thing in general, regardless of how harmful it actually is. Deep down, you thinking that love is only something that should be between men and women is nothing more than an opinion and personal view regardless of what you want to believe or not. And opinions, are taught not born. I think this films depicts the message very well, and the whole tone of it is perfect. Someone mentioned how Yoo Han started off wearing lighter tones and white shirts and towards the end he ended up wearing black shirts and darker shades. Idk if that was intentional but if it was it was done well, that's probably how he felt too, he felt like a sinner, like he had done the unthinkable. But yeah, I really like religious BL or queer content. I like seeing the fact that such a thing as love, is considered a sin in such a "accepting" religion. With that I rate this short film 8/10.
I liked it! I liked the whole vibe to it, when I was watching it I didn't know which year it was from so I was getting a lot of 2016 K-Drama vibes, I was 3 years off but I really liked those vibes. It felt warm and soft. I really enjoyed that, the music was really good too! As for the story itself, it't decent, nothing too extraordinary and I'm surprised there wasn't any conflict between the 2 ml, and by conflict I mean them arguing. They just had time spent apart and thats it. So that was nice. I do feel like this could've been done slightly better mostly since 45 min is a lot but a little at the same time. But it wasn't a bad watch, and I genuinely liked the whole vibe to it, it's very comforting to me. So 7.5/10 is my rating for this one.
Honestly I probably would've enjoyed this series if the subtitles were better, I felt very lost once again. I've watched all the BL series this channel has made and the subtitles making no sense is a huge problem they have, if it fits into their budget they should hire someone to write better English subtitles for them because it really ruins the experience. As for the story I can't say much since again I was a bit lost, but it did seem simple and nothing too exciting, the kisses were ok they kind of felt a bit disconnected for me like their heart wasn't in it. And for the chemistry, once again subtitles playing a huge part on my opinion but without really understanding much the chemistry was all there either. I'm now waiting for their newest BL short series "Never Ending Story" but I doubt this one will be any better since I'm basing this off the other 3 series I've watched, I hope in the future they get better and better subtitles. The potential is there. My rating is 6.5/10.
What a generous rating.. :D It landed right on 1 star for me. :D Which short series would you recommend? I usually…
Yeah you’re right it’s not nowadays and it’s common, and yes JBLs are usually shorter than let’s say Thai BLs but since I watch them all I usually categorize them as short or long depending on how long it’ll probably take me to finish based on episodes and length. So yeah to find extremely short series that have like 2-6 episodes and are like 5 min each or so that are actually worth watching is hard, I’ve been watching short series nonstop lately and majority I’ve rated a 7 (my lowest rating) or 6.5 if it’s so bad I can’t even rate it a 7.
