When Grandpa Becomes The Twink ( He’s 70 in the Streets, 20 in the Sheets)

Alright, this one was a watch for sure. Honestly, I’m not even impressed—at the end of the day, it’s Taiwan BL, and when has that ever been normal? But yeah, I’ve got a lot to say here, so buckle up.

First off, what a weird story. Like…did anyone else watch this and constantly remember that Zhe Fang’s GRANDFATHER was in his BODY? Because I sure did. And that’s just insane. I couldn’t wrap my head around half of what was going on. Logically speaking, if this ever happened in real life:

1. The grandfather would stay straight. This man lived in a generation where being gay was basically treated like a crime worse than murder.

2. The age gap? Absolutely not. Unless grandpa was secretly a pedophile, no normal old man would look at someone his grandson’s age and think, “Yeah, that’s hot.” Ew.

3. If anything, a grandpa would’ve been fighting tooth and nail to return the body immediately. But no, this man just vibed until the end when he suddenly decided, “You know what? Suicide attempt time.” Like…what?

That’s where the story flopped for me. The logic just isn’t there. And sure, it’s fiction, but even unrealistic stories have to feel believable in their own world. If they wanted a body-swap plot, they could’ve done something way better. Imagine this: instead of death, grandpa and grandson just accidentally swap bodies, both survive, and they spend time living each other’s lives. The grandpa could’ve finally learned what modern youth and queerness are like, and the grandson could’ve gained a deeper appreciation for his family. They bond, they swap back, then we get the romance side of things. Stereotypical? Maybe. Less cursed? Definitely.

Now let’s talk about Guan Ri Qing. At first, I rolled my eyes and thought, “Here comes another toxic manipulative boyfriend,” but honestly, he was misunderstood. He just wanted love, specifically from Zhe Fang. And honestly? Poor guy. It felt like Zhe Fang used him, while secretly wanting Hai Yuan. That’s brutal. Imagine loving someone, then watching their body (literally) date someone else—your half-brother, no less. That’s heartbreak on nightmare mode. His whole depressed wall-staring scenes? Gut punch. I ended up feeling like Guan Ri Qing and Zhe Fang were soul-tied, red-string-coded. In another life, they’d meet again and maybe actually make it work. Though I feel like if Zhe Fang and Guan Ri Qing story continued, Zhe Fang would get reincarnated, once he's 20 he meets 40 year old Guan Ri Qing and wow beautiful romance, once again Taiwan BL coded, tho thats not as bad as whatever this is.

Now here’s the contradiction. I kept asking myself: what’s the real difference between this and a vampire romance? Vampires are literally 500 years old dating high schoolers, but somehow that’s romantic and not creepy? Grandpa is “only” 69, and suddenly it’s gross? Don’t get me wrong, it is gross—especially since it’s his grandson’s body and crush—but the double standard is kind of funny. Like, vampires get a pass, but this man can’t?

Final thoughts: I liked some parts. The kisses? Pretty good. Chemistry? Not bad. The pacing? Short and sweet. But overall, it didn’t land. It was unrealistic for being unrealistic, if that makes sense. The drama and jealousy were over the top and unnecessary. Grandpa should not be dating a 20-year-old. Grandson should’ve lived his own life and gotten his second chance. Hai Yuan? Lost child. Probably has daddy issues. Someone please direct him to people his actual age who have “old souls,” not literal old men.

So yeah. This show was a mess. A funny, wild, sometimes entertaining mess—but still a mess. 7.5/10. Can’t wait to see what Taiwan cooks up next, because at this point I’m convinced the writers are just high in the meeting room tossing darts at a board of “weird plot ideas.”

Green Flag, Yellow Flag, Black Flag, Or Well... A Psychopath

I like to call this the red string theory, the ending proved how Da On was meant to be with Seong Hyeon from the start but it wasn't the right time or place. Honestly I really liked this story, it was very interesting from start to finish, so with this review I would like to talk about each person individually starting off with our Black Flag aka our psychopath, its honestly so interesting how I first thought Su Hyeon was gonna be the most toxic of them all, and thats what they wanted us to think until we started to find more and more about Jae Min, he is honestly just so lost in his own meaning of love that he doesn't realize how messed up everything he does is, he thinks its love and sacrifice, but its just obsession, I like to know characters background when it comes to breaking down the reason why they're this toxic but there wasn't much background information about Jae Min like the other characters, so im guessing this is just the way he is cause he was born this way. But it still doesn't excuse any action he did towards Da On, and the fact that they were all so harmful either to Da On or the people he cared about. But anyway, thats all I have to say, next one is our Yellow Flag, I thought about labeling him a Red Flag and honestly he's a bit of both, so maybe he's like a Orange Flag, but you can tell he was way more sympathy than Jae Min. Su Hyeon is honestly someone I can see kind of like a misunderstood character, I feel like he isn't a bad person deep down he was just in love and was pushed to his limits by Jae Min and also his own personal life with his family putting the immense pressure of the company and honestly just pleasing them with whatever they asked him to do. You can tell he can be caring when we saw the scene of him being super kind to his niece, that showed a different side of him I feel we would be able to see if Su Hyeon wasn't just pushed to the brink of insanity. I honestly felt bad for him at times, he did do horrible things to Da On as well and wasn't the best person to be around but I really do feel sympathy of what he could've been if it hadn't been for the actions he made because of once again love and obsession. This leads me to my next point before I talk about Seong Hyeon and Da On, Jae Min and Su Hyeon saw Da On as a possession rather than a person they wanted to love and take care of, they were both fighting like cats and dogs over another human being with feelings and emotions and making dumb decisions like fake dating between each other just for what? At the end of the day Da On liked both Jae Min and Su Hyeon at some point, if either of them had done the right thing and done things properly like Seong Hyeon, they could've had the happy ending the so craved with Da On. But they chose to be dumb and toxic about it and look where that lead them. I do feel for Su Hyeon, maybe because in a way he was manipulated by Jae Min into fake dating him so neither of them could have Da On but Jae Min always had an ulterior motive, theres a reason he's labeled Black Flag, this man was no doubts the villain of this story and it infuriated me whenever he would pop up and ruin everything again. But anyway, lastly we have our Green Flag, he's honestly all there is to a Green Flag and what we all look for in a partner, he managed to love Da On and care for him properly, no single toxic behavior was done, everything he did was for him, this man risked his life for him, he did everything thats expected of someone that truly loves someone else, a literal sweetheart, even when he woke up after being stabbed the first thing he asked was "how did the presentation go", LIKE HELLO?! He's just perfect. And I'm so happy things worked out for both of them and they got their happy ending, the way we all wanted it to go. It just shocks me how he was able to deal with 2 men who were so toxic and dealing with Da On trying to push him away, plus waited a whole year to be with Da On again. That's just true love man. He cared so much about Da On, and Da On deserved this love. Now this brings me to Da On, our main character, I felt really bad for him, and understandably so. He came from a broken family, a gambling addict of a father and an absent mother/sick? Not sure about what was her deal. Having to have young siblings in which I'm sure he took the role of being both father and mother and taking care of them, once he had the chance to escape he did and tried to make a life for himself, regardless of all the trauma he was about to experience with Jae Min and Su Hyeon, he had already experienced some trauma with family, his dad always asking for money so he could continue his gambling addiction, and ruining his reputation in his work place by showing up and making a scene. Then when Jae Min ordered that guy to make him drunk and then took pictures of him in bed almost shirtless, the shit this man experienced was honestly devastating. He deserved to feel love and be loved but instead he had days and days of misery because 2 guys didn't know how to love properly. It hurt me so much when it got to the point that Da On was saying how he doesn't deserve to love or be loved because in the end they all end up being hurt. I was like "NO" because he deserves love and more, he deserves to feel what it is to truly be in a happy healthy environment and relationship. And Seong Hyeon was that for him, so I'm glad once again that things worked out and we got our happy ending, I would be a mess if we didn't. But anyways, this is the longest review I've done in a long time but I just had so much to say about this series, its so different from the others, I haven't seen a love square ever because not even love triangles are my thing but this one was very interesting. I recommend watching, it's an 8.5/10 for me.

Rewatched, Here Are My Thoughts

Ok so I rewatched this show after paying for the membership the channel that created this small show has. It gives me access to uncut versions of all their videos, and after watching this part uncut, here are my thoughts.

It’s honestly not much different with the membership, yes you get to see them kiss for longer periods of time and it’s more heart throbbing but the plot is lacking so much in so many ways that having them kiss for a minute longer doesn’t do much of a difference in enjoyment. I can say confidently that if this show had ended with only Pt.1 I would’ve rated it super low. Now as I write this review I haven’t watched Pt.2, so I can’t speak much about the overall rating and how much I enjoyed overall. But so far based on Pt.1, with uncut scenes, my rating is 7. I rated it a 6.5 before when it had come out but I think the longer scenes definitely make the ratings go a bit higher but not too high. So 7 is a perfect score for this part.

Amazing Show

Honestly there’s so much to appreciate about this show, but I’ll keep it short, the acting is top tier, the music is amazing, the story is spectacular, the chemistry is immaculate, the tension is always there, there isn’t a second where you aren’t at the edge of your chair waiting to see what’s gonna happen next or just having a plot twist out of nowhere. I absolutely loved this show, and I love how at the end everytbing was resolved and everyone was happy and where they should be (including Vegas and Pete which I wanted them to be together in the end so bad and I was hoping he didn’t die) and thank god he didn’t because that was one of the best relationships with that chemistry omg. Of course nothing beats Kinn and Porsche and their chemistry and relationship is just WOW! Overall amazing show and so worth watching, only thing is it’s a little long but honestly they do an amazing job at making a hour pass by like it’s a minute of how entertained and concentrated you will be.

So much emotions

Ok so there's actually so much to say about this show, the acting was great, the story was good, the characters were all a mess in their own way but it played out well so I would like to talk about each couple here and share my opinion on them. I want to start with Mew and Top, this might be controversial but I did not like their relationship, like it made me so mad and honestly I don't even know why. I think because I didn't like Tops character and I didn't like Mew's that much either. Top was a player and honestly what he did in my opinion is not as easily forgivable as he was forgiven, I feel like he should've worked harder for it like he barely did anything he just did bare minimum of what a loyal boyfriend should act like but i guess that was enough to make Mew realize he was worth given a second chance, though i do believe in second chances i feel like there was something off from that relationship in general, it felt empty and dull. While Mew, i did not like his character that much, he was all over the place and so confusing but maybe that's what made Mew and Top perfect for each other. Anyway, overall not the worst relationship and with this i will talk about the worst one so far and that's Ton and Nick. O M G it was so bad, like Ton is just a horrible person and he's not gonna change, at the end of the show i thought he might have changed for Nick but that was obviously too good to be true, he definitely just like the attention he gets from sleeping around and should not be a person that commits to anything serious, though i somehow see a potential for improvement there i doubt it will be easily attainable if he doesn't have the right mindset and will to change. While Nick, poor guy, he just fell for a asshole. Though i cant blame him for falling for Ton, he should've not gone back to him like he did even though he had a good guy that he could've had a chance with based on what we saw. But love is blind and i get that so i cant blame him much, he just wanted a caring relationship and being loved by Ton but that was something truly impossible. I love his character though and wish him happiness. Next is April and Chueam, we didn't get to see much of their relationship so there isn't much to say. Overall they seem to have a pretty healthy relationship, they seem like the type to be able to communicate things and improve their relationship for the better, even though the only conflict they had together was in the beginning when April got told about how Chueam talks about April and her films and stuff. But it was a small conflict, nothing major. Overall a cute relationship and definitely wanted to know more about them. Next, Yo and Plug. Nothing much to say about them, another couple we barely got to see much. They also had their issues but later was resolved, once again nothing major. Their relationship was cute and i loved the representation not just with them but with the other couples as well. Lastly, best for last. Sand and Ray, might be a little biased because i love those 2 so much in all the shows they are together but so far was my favorite relationship, they actually communicated, they had so much chemistry (but they lowkey always do in every show), they improved together, they weren't super toxic for each other and eventually any toxicness cancelled out and they were perfect for each other. Now I'm not going to deny that at first Ray was an asshole to Sand and lowkey Sand didn't deserve him at all in the beginning, i got so mad when he would help Ray even though Ray would be such an ass to him. But it worked out in the end because Ray had so much potential to be a good lover, he was just stuck up on Mew and had a drinking and drug problem plus he also hated his life which all combined caused him to be this way, but you can tell from the start he was a good person he just needed to find someone to give him that push (Sand) into a better direction. Overall, great show. I enjoyed it a lot and i liked how each relationship had their own issues and conflicts that slowly got solved in their own pace and way. Anyway, the guy that appeared in the last episode is so FINE, and omg you can tell it was about to go down after that haha i would like to see that.

Too Much Needs To Be Improved

I know what I get myself into when I decide to watch these 12-16 episodes 47-1 hr shows that have been released lately or before, but I can't help but to let the urge win and still watch knowing I'll most likely drop it or skip through half of it because the show is just unnecessarily long for no reason. I didn't finish a lot of this show, but it wasn't that good for me to even continue to finish, a lot of things lacked, the acting was ok, it felt a bit rookie, and a lot of the times it was just so funny because the acting would be so bad and the script as well. The things they would say would make me laugh so much, it felt like I was watching a YouTube movie that those small but big creators make for kids under 12. I will admit, this show is not for those ages lol, the NSFW scenes were really good, except for when the camera angle would just go a bit lower than it should during the bj scenes and you could see the way they we're doing it, which looked so goofy and funny omg. This show is just super unserious but at the same time not? At least they fail at being serious. I also feel like we didn't see much of the WLW couple. And honestly during the moment I was skipping through to just catch a glimpse of the story I can see the WLW we're suffering more that the MLM couple. The MLM couple were just having intercourse every episode lol. But yeah a lot needs to be improved, this show felt low budget and high budget at the same time, there's just so much yes and no in this show that makes it bad. But overall 6.5/10.

Wish Things Were Different For These Series

Alright, so I have a few things to say about this show and the Addicted show from 2016 and also the Thai remake coming up. So, some people say this show is cursed cause every remake is always bad somehow, or lacking something, or just not satisfactory to the viewers to the max. I know a lot of people enjoyed this one more than Addicted (2016) for many reasonable reasons, but at the same time this show lacks too, as well as I feel like the Thai remake will as well. Now, let me talk about some things I did write down during the time I was watching this show while I still had the storyline of Addicted (2016) fresh in my head, and I compared the differences in both since I had in mind watching Stay With Me and the Thai remake and review them all in their similarities and differences, but I can’t bring myself to. But yeah, in this one I noticed that support characters don’t act like NPC (same with other characters/including side), I don’t remember much since I watched Addicted (2016) a while ago but the storyline was just not there, it wasn’t executed properly and neither were the characters, so this was something very refreshing about this version. Second, there’s more information about more characters and storyline, in this version it goes into more depth about each character, it reveals characters that weren’t even shown in the 2016 version, this makes the story easier to understand and just overall more informative and realistic. Third, we get to see more of them at school and other characters instead of just mainly focusing on them two. Literally the 2016 version was like a whole mess just focused on the 2 main characters, the rest were like cardboard cutouts with no personality or past, future or present, it felt dull and empty. Fourth, cute scenes filled with chemistry. The difference from this one to the 2016 is day and night, I didn’t get to finish this one so idk if the entire kidnaping thing and literal sexual harassment happens, but based on how far I got, things seemed more innocent, cute, consensual, and just overall healthy or at least I should say healthier from what I saw. It was honestly extremely refreshing to see. Regardless of that, I’m not a huge fan of censored BL/bromance. I wouldn’t avoid watching it completely, I’m sure theres really good ones out there for me, and I’m aware this is a good one but I just couldn’t continue, the lack of intimacy is something that I dislike. I know based on what I saw, with their censorship, they tried their best to make it work and with the 9 episodes I saw I already felt the chemistry, but still, this story more than any other I feel NEEDS that intimacy. But regardless I understand the circumstances, and to also put out there, I did see the uncensored 2016 version, that’s why it’s like day and night for me. But moving on, it has sense of humor/funny scenes/not always on the serious side. Literally, the 2016 version is just black and white, the whole vibe is depressing, the way things were was depressing, god that thing was just horrible, this one is livelier, definitely the fact that it has way more things than the 2016 helps with the liveliness, the 2016 version felt more like a quick dark story. And lastly what I wrote down as part of my review was that the way they found out how they were step brothers was different in both shows, I forgot both versions at the moment of me writing this review, but in the back of my mind I can faintly remember the difference, once again it was like day and night, and everything this show had the the other didn’t played a huge part in this and most of it all. Anyway, this was about how far I got, notice how I didn’t write mainly anything negative about this one, because at the end of the day this show was good, I can recognize this will probably be one of the better versions of Addicted in a while if they continue making more remakes, but it lacked things that I just couldn’t continue, and 24 episodes is long. I need a hook. But I will not deny this show is good, and I do recommend it if you enjoy censored BL/bromance. Now, another thing I also wanna mention here is about the fact I think someone dies? Or idk they get into an accident and we don’t know what happens next that’s why a lot of people are asking for season 2. And no man… I’m not about to go through all that just to have no second season, I’ve been watching HIStory shows recently and I already felt that with one of the shows, won’t say which one incase anyone is interested in watching, don’t wanna spoil. But yeah, that’s pretty much all I have to say, I do recommend if you’re aware of what to expect and ready for it all. Wish we had a version like this but with more intimacy, it would be perfect. But for now this is what we get. And I won’t even speak about the Thai one, I haven’t watched it, haven’t heard much about it, don’t even wanna try it. I’m getting horrible vibes off that one. But yeah here goes to the end of my addicted journey, and if in the future I change my mind, I’ll write another review. But for now this is where I stand.

Unoriginal, Don't Even Want To Continue

Okay, this BL has a lot of good reviews, high ratings, in my book that's a big red flag, most high rating shows aren't up to my liking nor standards but regardless I watched the first episode, let me just say it didn't hook me, it's your typical stepbrother story, same old same old with Taiwanese BL's. I mean I got nothing against that but like make it more unique and interesting? It's always the same, enemies to lovers type of thing, a dead parent or divorced parents. I've watched too many BL's like this and most of them are not that good cause they're so repetitive. I did some research too and the story seems to be dull and like a slowburn, nothing wrong with that again but at least give us something later on. But no... apparently it's one of those BL's that end and literally make us crave more while a second season is yet to be confirmed. So, I'm gonna save my time on this one and rate it a 7. I could rate it lower but I know theres quality and potential there. I saw some of the dropped reviews and they looked like they were AI generated, they all had a 10 star even tho it was dropped. Maybe it was a mistake, but regardless I'm trying to be honest, and if anyone is looking for a similar opinion like me after watching the first episode then it'll be easier to find. If this show gets a second season and I find out about it and it's also better, maybe I'll give this show a try. But right now. No, thank you.

It's Time For Me To Move On

It's time for me to let this series go and move on, I've been stuck on it for way too long hoping it would get better and waiting for me to get the motivation to watch it. For time stamps I started this series 4 months ago, watched episodes 1-5, then stopped and left it there for about a month, then watched episode 6, then got back to it and watched episode 7 to 10, 2 months later. And the last time I watched the last episode which was technically episode 9 because I didn't start episode 10, was 25 days ago. The beginning was ok, then I got a bit uninterested but after waiting a while and getting back to it I kind of got the spark to watch it again for a little, I seriously thought this would be the time I finished it and I just needed to wait it out, but I got stuck on episode 10 once again, I couldn't start it, I couldn't finish this series. And why? Because there isn't much to it anymore, and to be honest, there never was. This story is very messy, I already didn't like the fact that we got all the action in the first episode, I think a enemies to lover or strangers to lovers would've been good but everything basically got spoiled in the first episode, no room for tension, or yearning, or slow burn. Then the whole story, was just... not my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong I love the whole hitman criminal plots but this wasn't it and it wasn't executed well. The acting was good, ofc. But the characters were annoying, and I think that made the acting look worse than it actually is, these are all great actors but with the script and lines I'm sure it was hard to execute a well performance, regardless they ate it up. But it just didn't deliver. I am sadly disappointed, I really tried so hard to like this because I love First, Khao, Joong and Dunk. And they all have great chemistry, and great acting skills. But this just wasn't it at all. Idk what it is this year and last year with series that have well known actors being horrible, I was also disappointed with Love Sea and Kidnap. But older series are better, I think we need to take a step back, take notes, listen to what people actually like, and take action based on that. I see a lot of people liked this series, and I'm shocked, some didn't like it as well. I know every BL watcher has a different motive to watch series, but lets be honest about ratings and reviews, and don't just base it off chemistry and NC scenes, instead the actual story and how well it was made. I think a 7.5 is a generous rating on my part, I've seen people rate it lower. I can admire the good aspects of it thats why I wouldn't go lower, and I didn't hate it completely, there were good moments, but to say the least. It was disappointing. Hoping next year is a better year for the LGBTQ+ content industry, and I hope these actors get better series moving forward.
