i think u are a very positive minded person to ignore all the problems i mentioned and only focus on the good things. but hey, thats not a bad thing, i actually admire that in people.
but tbh, personally, for me this show just didnt do it in the trans rep avenue. like i didnt even go in with that expectation, it was actually a pleasant surprise until... all the negative stereotypes came hurling in. and also those things about "reinventing herself as a woman" to escape the cycle of abuse from her father, and "transitioning to kill easier" are def there, just check ep 6 youll see.
tho i must ask, in what world is it easier to kill by transitioning to a woman? like yk trans people do hormone therapy right? that literally weakens their body. so again, thats just a very harmful stereotype nothing more. also, the implication that trans people transition spec because of wanting to hurt people (esp the idea that trans women only do so to enter female spaces is a very common one) doesnt have to be said outloud to be very glaringly obvious. or at least thats how it felt to me since i can only talk thru my own exp.
lastly, "Yes the copycat killer idolized the Mantis and fashioned herself to be like her" this whole line is very problematic. Because it implies that not only being trans is a choice (its not) but some also do it because its a fetish for them (since the copycat was in love with the mantis) However, "The copycat became a woman because of the gender dysphoria but she became a killer because of the mantis" i agree with this part, tho idk if u noticed but it seemed like to me that they kinda mixed the two to make it more vague? again idk if this was on purpose or happened by mistake. it wasnt very clear unless you were paying attention.
all in all, this was quite a disappointing watch esp because i genuinely enjoyed the first 5 eps. idk why they had to make the main villain trans but like thats not even the problem, the problem is they didnt do it properly. too many harmful stereotypes, too many false misconceptions, which i dont think i have to repeat. oh well, it just left a bad taste in my mouth nothing else when i was really enjoying the show too. maybe if the last two ep were amazing, it couldve perhaps changed my exp, but nope. they literally had to be soooo predictable.... what a bummer.

thanks for your reply as well. but i dont get it, like im glad that its better than the original (even tho i havent watched it) it was sadly just not enough. im not one of those ppl who think any rep is good rep.
