Her lungs got weaker from continuous diving
and her smoking cigarettes had a huge impact on her diving. I was surprised she had'nt been written to drown while diving.

But the scene where Gwan Shik jumps off the boat and swims to the harbor. I've seen some absurd scenes in my life…
In youth, in the heat of the moment, with their background, it didn't seem absurd to me in the least. When I was 18, my love showed up on my doorstep 3 years after he promised he 'd come back for me after he and his family moved to another part of my country. If my strict disciplinarian father, who had guns in the house bc he was law enforcement, hadn't threatened to shoot him right then and there if I didn't turn him away, I wouldn't have even stopped long enough to pack a suitcase. I cried for a week after. Still do. I've spent my whole long life regretting when recalling his disapponted face, and what could've been.

I admit I am a chicken. From the comments and short clips it feels like I would need a box of tissues with each…
Thank you for the share. *reaching for a tissue. Needing a box of tissues is one element in the success of the first 4 eps. WLGYT isn't the typical without substance Korean drama. The comments not understanding it appear to attest to its depth. The industry should provide more like this to get away from the trope laden regurgitation that seems to be 'the standard'. I call those Fluff and easy 10s for the much younger gens.

WLGYT is fresh, isn't dependent on comedy (there are humorous moments that aren't forced on the viewer), the flow of the story, transitions between the past & present are like recalling one's memories, and the acting by all involved seems to be the unifying layer in a (so far) well written drama.

Aside from the drama itself, it also appears that the much younger gens are STILL trying to watch dramas based on who has been cast, rather than on the story, the plots, the cinematography, the editing, etc. They haven't grown past the superficial level, even though 1/2 of the mains are showing all of us they've matured and consider their acting to be a career, with learned skills, instead of it being a passing phase for them. I'll look back and think this drama was their defining moment into the adult world with a mature mindset.

love rain available on Viki.
I agree, and the majority of comments suggest that more should be made. The saga type dramas with the main leads' multiple generations, when well done, just hit harder than the usual Kdramas. The only thing I don't like about WLGYT is it's 16 episode length.

25 21 u can give it a try
I'm glad you liked it. So did I to an extent. Maybe my age has me lowering a rating when I require more substance, unlike when I first started out watching dramas years ago and devoured them. It wouldn't be good for me to rewatch those 'first' dramas now, and I certainly don't bother re-rating them to the standards I hold now. I'll just leave them as great memories.

Ah, you mean the movie also known as The Last First Love, Jangsu Shop, Long Lives, Jang-Soo Store, Salute D'Amour, and Jangsoosanghwe which isn't on Viki in my region? I gave it a 9.5. It isn't a drama, nor a saga/epic type drama, and only follows the main cast from mid/high school to older age.
