so why was it reduced from 16 to 12 episodes ?
Ratings have been poor and tvN is more interested in revenue than in integrity... which is understandable as they are a commercial enterprise, the question is why did they greenlight the project in the first place? It should have been obvious from the first second that a show like this won't appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Lmao! I love this show! Every character needs a psychiatrist! Every last one. It's fully unrealistic, but that's…
Therapy is not a magic fix though, perfectly illustrated by these characters, many of whom actually saw a psychiatrist. Min Jung was visiting the therapist just as her daughter asked, but it was no use until her 'I'm perfectly fine' facade broke down with some help from the AI. Ji Soo had a psychiatric prescription, but no drug could solve the conflicting loyalties that were tearing her apart. Seo Woo used to take the same drug but it couldn't replace her lost parents; what actually helped her was Eun Joo's love and support. No idea about Ha Won but, considering he works closely with psychiatrists, he most likely got councelling at some point (if nothing else, as a research into existing therapy options, before creating the AI device - he is meticulous like that, see also his 'what helped me sleep' tests).
If there is a point the show makes, it is that drugs and doctors can only help to take off the edge, but what one actually needs to heal is meaningful human connections.

After watching the first episode, Kim Hee Ae just doesn't give the same "one step away from a psychopath" vibe…
That was the main reason I quit after ep 6. It's a good show but the original British version is better. Especially, the dinner scene in Doctor Foster is a different level of intense...

People dismissing the show because of the AI gadget is like berating a beautiful poem because of incorrect grammar: factually right, yet misses the point completely... But then, everyone has their own trigger points.

Hope you will enjoy watching them! :)

Soon Ho you really let me down here.
I preferred Soon Ho before she bought into the 'tortured artist' crap. Why would In Wook's pain be any more important than Ha Won's? And In Wook coming clean would be healing for both of them, concerts be damned. As it is, I'm sorry to say but it feels to me that her main motivator is not even her crush, but the fact that she is so proud of herself for lifting a struggling artist out of his slump.

The way Ji Soo turned her back to her husband was ... horrible. It was torturing him, all the time, he regretted…
It was still the cause that someone dear to her died and her best friend's life was ruined. It was also the reason why In Wook could become her friend (before the accident, she and Ha Won were living in their own little world), so she must have felt that he sneaked into her trust by deceit. And worst of all, he kept it secret for so many years, even though he knew how important the people he hurt were for Ji Soo. Of course, it is not something to blurt out at the beginning, but once their relationship turned serious, he should have come clean.
I knew that if I were in her shoes, I could not live with him. I hope I could be a nice enough person to forgive for the lie that inadvertently caused so much pain. I know I could not forgive the secrecy and cowardice. But even if, somehow, I managed that, forgiving is not the same as forgetting. I could never again trust the person who hid something so crucial from me...

LOL the complaint used to be that Ha Won is still clinging to his unrequited love though she has been married…
I think maybe Ha Won and Ji Soo thought they were in love when they were children, but she learned the difference when she fell in love with husband-to-be. And the way Ha Won keeps saying to Seo Woo how all this is new for him, he never wanted physical closeness before... if he did not feel that for Ji Soo when they were 17, then maybe the feeling was not really romantic love on his part either.

I have a question because some people mentioned that. What is the connection beetween Something in the rain and…
The two dramas are like siblings: they have the same writer, director, male lead, and many supporting actors also worked in both (the director likes these people and they pop up in all his work, it's fun to spot them :)) Both have very similar feel, but the dynamics between the main couple is totally different in the two dramas.

Some people who didn't like how SitR played out think that OSN is a big improvement; others feel that OSN is nowhere near as good as SitR. It comes down to personal expectations really, because both are great, probably the two most realistic Korean dramas in recent years.

i rly like this show & the chemistry between jung hae in and soo bin but i jus didnt really like the fact that…
LOL the complaint used to be that Ha Won is still clinging to his unrequited love though she has been married for many years... I think by the point Seo Woo entered his life, the love he felt for Ji Soo was more of a habit, he simply didn't know how to live a life without her as his 'fixed point'. Anyway, thinking of Ji Soo was comforting so he felt there was no reason to move on.
But it all changed when she died. Thinking of her was not bringing comfort anymore, it was full of pain and regret (he should have contacted her sooner, should have found out why she was miserable, should have gone with her to Norway etc...) So he realised it was really time to let go.

On the other hand, his emotions for Seo Woo have been different from the start. They were real, not just a coping mechanism like what he had for Ji Soo. I was also worried that she would be a rebound, or that he would force himself to be with her because of AI Ji Soo's matchmaking, but he seems honest and sincere, almost embarrassingly candid about his feelings. And there were little things like being jealous for the first time, or being evasive about their relationship while he used to talk freely about Ji Soo to Soon Ho and Hoon...

As for Ji Soo, Won was just her best friend, she did not love him romantically but he was a very important person in her life - they grew up together and were as close as siblings. She was in love her husband, but finding out about his secret was too much for her, especially since she also loved Ha Won's mother (who used to be her piano teacher) so what he did felt more personal.

It was just some dumb shit by a jealous and thoughtless kid, but it cost the life of Ha Won's mom, who was also…
Of course In Wook knew exactly who the lady was. Why would he have said to a random stranger that he saw Ha Won going the wrong way? If he didn't want to talk, he could have just bowed and said he was in a hurry.
In Wook pretended to not be Korean, never spoke the language with others, but he knew Ha Won and Ji Soo. He fancied her even back then, and that's why he hated the boy and was jealous of their bond. But sending out an innocent person into the snowstorm... that's just wicked, even if he was young back then.

As for protocols, tell a mother you saw her son heading the wrong way when a blizzard is coming on, I guarantee you she will run after him without a moment of hesitation. These days she might first call him to check, and then also alert the rescue team while she is on the way, but in 2005 still not everyone would have mobiles (they might also not work because of the storm).

I think it is exactly the point of the story, that these skeletons in the closet will fuck up your life, unless you deal with them properly. Talk about it, apologize if you did something wrong, then cry and grieve as long as it takes, if you want to be able to live well. Time can only ease the pain if you got proper closure first. That's not ridiculous, that's just how people are...

guess i'm not nice enough or some shit bc they really need to let ji soo go and all everything surrounding her…
It was just some dumb shit by a jealous and thoughtless kid, but it cost the life of Ha Won's mom, who was also Ji Soo's piano teacher and very dear to her. A secret that fucked up the life of Ha Won (his insomnia dates back to then, and possibly some of his other weirdness too) and In Wook (for all his denial the guilt was eating him up all along), and even Ji Soo at the end (not just what her husband did but also hiding it from her, and her own failure to keep her promise to Won). Can something that ruined three lives really be no big deal?

so anyone else felt uncomfortable watching the beginning of episode 9 since they probably had to cut a lot bc…
The cut can be clearly felt in this episode... :( Even a scene from the episode preview is missing (asking Min Jung about the name of her daughter), which probably means they are chopping and rearranging to the last minute. It really breaks my heart.
And while the preview for today is sqee-worthy at first, it makes me very scared... gonna be the longest 5 days until next Monday, I'm afraid.

Guys "Romance is a Bonus Book "or "Something in the rain"What do you prefer ??And why ??
Something in the rain, hands down. Because it is real and raw and intense.

Romance is a bonus book is for me an OK kdrama, somewhat cute and light, there are even some excellent bits, but overall it's too far removed from reality to make me care.

The only thing that annoys is that Hae Won's aunt could've easily gotten treatment for her glaucoma, but no! she…
I was so disappointed because I used to think she was intellingent and strong, and this punish myself, woe is me approach is just dumb. She should have gotten therapy to get over her guilt. Or she could have paid for the life she took by lives saved: train as a nurse and save Ebola patients, work with orphaned children or juvenile deliquents to turn their lives around, volonteer in a hospice to ease the last days of the terminally ill; absolution comes from ministrations, not from unproductive suffering. Or, at the very least, hide the guilt and pain in her heart and become the most devoted and loving substitute parent to her niece, because the dead guy would have wanted to see his daughter happy. But just giving in to self-pitying misery and spreading it around, that's so weak and unappealing. I get that it is realistic reaction, I simply don't like characters that act like that. And she used to be the one I found the most interesting in the drama...

Wait... so Jung Hae In is Lee Ha Na's uncle? I thought it should be the other way around...
They are not actually related, he was her grandma's protégé. 'Uncle' is a kind of nickname I think, or maybe it's normal use in Korean culture (like calling one's boyfriend oppa ie brother)

Title When the Weather Is Fine Spoiler
At this point I am more invested in the Shim sisters's happiness more than any other character in this drama.…
I can't even think of it as murdering a human being, it was putting down a rabid animal bent on killing her and her sister. It was 100% self defence - they didn't have any other means to stop the psycho at that moment. If there is anything to regret about his death, it is that he got an easy way out, he should have been locked up (preferably with other violent criminals prone to go ballistic) to suffer for many years.

We still don't know exactly what it was, but apparently he told some 'childish lies' that led to the death of Ha Won's mother. He certainly didn't mean that to happen, and the guilt must have been terrible, so he is pitiful. But he should have confessed to Ha Won right then, not carry on in denial and have it fester for some 15 years... He will never be able to live properly until he takes responsibility for what he did.

Title A Piece of Your Mind Spoiler
This drama just keeps getting worse in the general plot. The nonsense about the AI device is just too big for…
My problem is not that he is second lead, it's that Kang In Wook is a crappy person, selfish and cowardly. I used to think he was jealous, but it seems that his main worry was not even about his wife cheating on him, it was that his dirty little secret would come out and he would have to own up what he did. That's why he didn't let her to apologize to Won, and why he is afraid of how much Seo Woo knows.

Also, he only cares about himself. His wife was so depressed she hadn't left their home for three months, but he didn't want her to do what could have bought her relief, because it would have exposed him. Did he really love her? And now that she is gone, he is in so much pain, he is lashing out at everyone. Since when does suffering give one the right to treat others like dirt? But he's been getting away with it playing the tortured artist card... Soon Ho giving him an earful was long overdue and hopefully the first step to the right direction.

He should just grow a pair, confess to Ha Won what he did and accept whatever he gets, be it absolution or a punch in his face. That's the key out of this hell of his own making, and he knows it, and he still sticks to denial and whining... Pathetic.
