I feel the same about Heirs. It literally had EVERY drama cliche I had think of and the two main characters were the most boring pairing ever. I was hasty towards DOTS because of that flop drama & I'm really glad I gave it a chance.

"- There are actually lessons learned from the drama, which in my opinion, note, my opinion, is more valuable than having a heavy thick plot full of twists and turns."
Big plus on that. I thought the same while watching it, especially because of the fact that their aiding in a foreign country. They talk to people who don't know their language, they help everyone regardless of their origins. Black, white, South, North - it doesn't matter. In a country like South Korea, there's still plenty of xenophobia & racism and I think messages like this are really important :)
I call this drama entertaining. It may not have an increadible plot but I enjoyed watching it till the end. The…
It was character-driven, that doesn't mean it hasn't a plot. The plot devices (like the earth quake, the virus) were there do make the characters undergo changes and get more mature.
Everyone keeps telling that this drama is cliched, but that's not true at all. I loved how Descendants of The Sun unlike many dramas had:
- no stupid love-triangle(s) (oh god, thank you)
- tons of sweet side couples. Many dramas just have one couple and the rest of the cast is single (I mean how realistic is that..)
- a magnificient secondary couple whose development at times even exceeded the main couple (still can't get over their awesomeness)
- a main character who wasn't either a chaebol, jerk or whatever but a very loveable, self-less & loving/caring guy
- main females who aren't weak, poor, stupid self-sacrificers. MY & MJ know what they want and how to get it
- the relationship between Shi Jin & Mo Yeon was very mature. It wasn't ruined by stupid misunderstandings or the influence of evil side characters.
- come to think of, there are no purely evil people here (except for Agus maybe). Even Myung Ju's father had his reasons at time (although we all wanted to slap him at times).
- a Western villain, pretty refreshing XD
- a fair amount of skinship
- a super rare and unique ending, almost self-ironic. I bursted into laughter XD
- a great amount of development for a side character, who changed drastically with the experiences he made
- no annoying gold-digger parent scenes, no evil step-mothers (oh god thank you again), no evil bitch
- and the list goes on......
Of course you can disagree, but that doesn't mean you can call this drama "garbage", "trash" or similar words. I thought Kim Eun Sook's latest attempt was a great improve of her writing compared to other dramas of her. Oh god I miss this drama so much already :( "Everytime I see you~~~"
PS: Non-cable dramas ALWAYS have product placement (as long as it's not a sageuk). It's not anything new and I wasn't bothered by it at all. Watch tvN dramas if you are bothered, they have less of it.
Yay for Yoon Kyun Sang, I really hope he'll be an adorable guy like Mu Hyul again <3
As for Lee Sung Kyung or whatever, in all honesty that woman can't act. Why is she so popular and constantly getting roles? Her overdone expressions in CITT gave me headache.
but what i dont get is wasnt this drama preshot? then how come they edited out jungs scenes and replaced them…
Yeah, poor one > < Ugh, I just read another source and PHJ told the explanation for the editing was that it's the PD's style. It was pre-written but she changed it all at the set. What kind of producing and writing is that?! -_-
but what i dont get is wasnt this drama preshot? then how come they edited out jungs scenes and replaced them…
Me too, exactly. I mean they chased after PHJ even if he declined until he signed with them almost a year ago, before they even had a time slot. And now they're being like this...I mean he could've chosen a project in which he was the true lead for sure instead of being sidelined after episode 8.
Okay I'm done, putting this on-hold for now. Just plain disappointing. CITT had one of the most intriguing premises ever. A mysterious male lead you keep wondering about and a girl who's trying to figure him out played by two mindblowing actors who had great chemisty.
And now? A piano guy a.k.a Inho Cantabile and some gangsters who are after him...thanks PD team for ruining an amazing drama like this. -_-
And I'm sorry but people who are like "Yoo Jung was boring, Inho is much cooler or I don't care because there's more of In Ho/SKJ" or whatever should just stick to generic eye-candy teen stuff. And people who are saying "PHJ is such a bad actor, his acting is wooden and boring" don't even know about real wooden acting. Yes I'm bitter and upset. Nuff said.

First question: It wasn't 100% pre-shot. The first half was shot before and while it was airing they were working on the 2nd one.
Second/third question: Yes. According to Park Hae Jin's agency PHJ already filmed YJ scenes but they filmed with SKJ a few days after that without PHJ knowing about this.
I agree that Yoo Jung is weird and kinda awkward sometimes but some people are really acting like he's the devil incarnated or something. I mean just look at other drama guys like your beloved Goo Jun Pyo from BOF. He bullied the girl, made her life much harder than it was and even kiddnapped her and arranged guys who almost raped her BUT everyone is like woah he's so cute like wtf. This is also the case with other drama jerks.
I think Yoo Jung is socially awkward to the point that he doesn't get how others think. But he's definitiely not "evil" and really likes her. Just sayin'
Ok, ok guys you might find YJ creepy (and I do sometimes too) but we all have to admit that the chemistry of PHJ and KGE is out of this world <3 I literally squeal at every romance scene with them and they're even more adorable backstage XD
I think Choi Young Do from The Heirs is missing. At first he was a rude bad boy type character but slowly changed for the better while he fell in love with her and he was so adorable! And yet she chose that damn uninteresting stalker dude (with zero character development) above him -_-
Also Gong Tae Kwang too. Han Yi An was the biggest bitch ever. Tae Kwang was always there for Eun Bi and deserved her like 1000000 times better than that jerk.
Big plus on that. I thought the same while watching it, especially because of the fact that their aiding in a foreign country. Any news on a comeback? Still hoping for Liar Game 2...
