I actually commented earlier that I'm proud on how those two teenagers are owning up to their 'mistake' and taking…
At first, I also don't understand Yeon Ju's point but that's mainly because I also view it as a "mistake" then. I admit it was my fault for seeing it as a "mistake". Their situation is not ideal but I don't think it's right for us to label it a mistake when those people directly involved do not see it that way. Some may say they're naive, maybe they really are, but I think I can now understand Yeon Ju's pov here.
I think what they need the most now is support (in whatever form). Just like how the two elders supported their decision with kind and silent smiles. There are people out there with the same experiences but not all of them are living miserable/ruined lives now. Sometimes the kind of support people receive at some point of their lives can make all the difference. But of course, it's not easy and I understand the disappointment of their parents. Again, these things are complicated and layered human emotions and I think the show is navigating it just fine. I'm glad that so far the show is not taking these stories superficially. The stories here have depth and I'm excited about how the other stories will unfold.
So many complicated human emotions at play in episodes 7 & 8. How do we even begin to process all those complicated things thrown at us here? These things are not easily categorized as something right or wrong. I am even questioning myself now. Who are we to even question the decision of these two teenagers? Who are we to even judge them? But of course, their parents are right to be disappointed at them; they have high expectations and hopes for their children. As shown in these episodes, we really know nothing about their struggles or who they really are. We are all just spectators here and it's their own lives to live. Honestly, I kinda felt guilty because it felt like I am one of those townspeople in this small town gossiping about these two teenagers' situation as a form of entertainment and feeling entitled that my opinion of their current predicament is more important/right than their own.
It's a good sign when I'm treating/seeing these characters like they are real people, right? It means the writer is good because his/her characters felt like real people, right? Noh Hee Kyung, you really are a master storyteller.
There's something about Noh Hee Kyung's works that always feel so heartwarming. Yes, it's painful and heartbreaking but at the same time, it just feels so warm and so sincere. Like a warm comfortable hug. It's hurting you but also giving you a warm hug at the same time. I don't know if I'm making sense here but that's what I always feel while watching her dramas.
I couldn't agree with you more! I was really hoping that Han Soo would confess his plan rather than be found out.…
I personally think Hansu will be back (or will just visit) to this small Jeju town eventually. He still has his family issues to resolve. I don't think NHK brought up his troubled relationship with his family for nothing. To me, Hansu resigning from his job and suddenly deciding to have a family trip is just him running away again from his problems and shame.
I don't know any of the writer's other work but am just in awe of her deft writing. With just a few spare scenes…
Brilliant and totally not a lazy intro for these two young characters. Showing us instead of telling.
If this isn't Noh Hee Kyung, we'll probably be introduced to these two characters by random townspeople or their neighbors gossiping about the probably chaotic family dynamics of these two fathers and their children. 😂 Telling us instead of showing.

Right! In just two episodes, she managed to introduce her 12 out 14 main characters. She let us take a peek of her other characters' dynamics while focusing the first 2 eps on Han Soo's & Eun Hee's stories.
My favorite was how clever she introduced Jung Hyun and Young Joo characters. First, when both their fathers were busy having a public fight with the car driver. They were both shown from a distance watching their fathers with a tired and disappointed looks, while other random people were also watching and just laughing at them like this was a normal occurrence in a middle of a hectic intersection. Small town - they probably know how these 2 people are prone to random squabbles.
Ep 2 - When both their fathers were drunk and they have to fetch them. Without words they kissed while on the stairs and then go their separate ways. Then, their separate conversation with their own fathers while very brief give us the idea of their dynamics as father & son and father & daughter. Young Joo intoduced as the top student while Jung Hyun as the top 2 - but we don't know yet if they are the same age or what. We get the idea of who they are despite brief appearances in the first 2 eps. Brilliant brilliant introduction in my books.
Noh Hee Kyung has my complete trust on this. Those who are quick to judge probably haven't seen yet her other works such as Dear My Friends and Live. This is her MO; she starts slow and she takes her time. She's just laying down the foundation of her stories and introducing her characters. If still in doubt, you can go see the reviews of her other works and how people often describe this writer. She's not a "mediocre" writer. 😂
Happy watching everyone! Also, you can try and watch Dear My Friends if you have more time to spare.
The genre tag includes comedy. Will this be something like Inspector Koo type of comedic investigation? Or maybe The School Nurse Files type of eccentric comedy. The synopsis sounds bonkers and funny chaos, which I think is very interesting.
"She spends day after day inside her room, editing her videos." --- Yup, I think this is very similar to Koo Kyung Yi (Inspector Koo) or maybe not. 😂
Kim Hye Soo doesn't even have to do much. Her presence alone is intimidating enough; I could feel it even from my screen. I can't imagine how it feels to be in the same space as hers when she is Judge Sim. What an actress! 👏👏
Strictly speaking, hiding in a building with windows won't help you as a magnetic field would penetrate all kinds…
I see. I was just very confused when the teacher just let her sit out there in the open field when something quite unnatural was evidently happening. Thought I missed some important details somewhere. ^^
They all freaked out and pushed her and she fell to the ground. I got the impression she was disoriented and couldn't…
Thanks! I thought I missed something important on why she was left outside and did not get inside when all her classmates hurriedly ran to their school building.
Why didn't the young Sae Byeok get inside the building (her school) during the solar flare phenomenon? She was left outside in the open field and her teacher let her stay there, right? Did I miss something? I don't get that part. But overall, it was a very intriguing first episode. It really did grab my attention.
This is how posters should be like. It should give you a brief look or introduction of the characters. Giving us what they would feel like - the impression of meeting them already.
The webtoon is very different from this. They changed lot of things. There's no romance line between Soo Hyuk…
It was between Cheong San and Onjo. CS has a crush on Onjo and gave her his nametag before he died/vanished but Onjo only realized what it meant after he died; they did not exchange nametags. Onjo from the webtoon did not even know what it signifies when one gave you his/her nametag. She only gave CS her nametag months after the biological gas was used in the city of Hyosan when she came back to their school. Onjo left her nametag in CS's seat. And from what I can remember, they (CS and Onjo) are just seatmates not childhood besties.
I'm hollering because of your review. 😂 You hit some right points here. You're right they should have focused more on Gwi Nam and MiJin here. Actually, in the original, Gwi Nam was after MiJin and not Cheong San. Gwi Nam & Mijin's rivalry was more interesting than Gwi Nam & Cheong San's. Cheong San was no match for Gwi Nam in this story and their rivalry became just battle of strength and nothing else. Meanwhile, Gwi Nam & MiJin's rivalry from the webtoon was more of wits and resourcefulness in trying to kill each other. Them outwitting and trying to kill each other would certainly be more interesting to watch.
Can anyone please comment down what happended after the episode 12 in the webtoon? Also please please tell me…
The webtoon is very different from this. They changed lot of things. There's no romance line between Soo Hyuk and Namra there; they just added that here for the plot I guess. Namra sort of surrendered to the authorities and agreed to be monitored/experimented to know more about the virus. Namra is still in quarantine and the group just visits her sometimes. Hyosan is still ground zero; authorities are slowly evacuating the bodies out there and clearing.
It's really necessary to add fucking romance in here? Like half of the plot is just them arguing about their feelings…
For me, the webtoon is better. No romance and yet the story is still interesting. Cheong San also likes Onjo there but that came very late in the webtoon so it was not the focus. Onjo is so much better there and there's no love line between Onjo and Bare Su. I feel like the writer did Onjo's character here very dirty. sigh.
