Once he marries Jinchao he only wants to be with her. I think she was even pressured into telling him to visit the concubines but he got pissed and they had an argument.
So it seems they cut all of them out to make it less complicated. In the novel Chen Xuan Qing and and his sister is the children of the late Madam Jiang. One of concubines has a son aswell i dont remember if he had another daugher as well.

Drama and novel are different. But in the novel she seduces her paternal cousins fiance. Cousin ends up marrying that man as the main wife and Gu Lan as concubine and she tries to harm the cousin later and Gu Lan ends up dying.

He was adopted into the family by Yan Yun. As in placed under the childs line. It's not unusual to make that branch survive. CXQ backstory into him being adopted is explained in ep 9
yup, thats why if family was looking for a spouse if the female was around 18 or if the male was 20+ there was question about what was wrong as in serious character flaws and such. Some male would get married later than females, especially if they were studying and prioritizing imperial examination.
