I wonder if the rating is dropping because of the sex scenes or that their favorite actor Ji Chang Wook (or character) got killed off early. These aside, I think the drama is not doing very well tbh. I know the scenario is the night, but the scenes are too dark to watch. And the plot is kinda meh. Hope the rest 4 ep will get better.
The way they introduced them it felt like they would be important to the plot, but in the end they felt more like…
True. Some characters were so unnecessary to the plot. Though I like Kim Moo Yul very much, I gotta say that his character had nothing to do with the plot either. And the criminal was somehow too invincible which made it so annoying. Also, the police were useless as usual in any Kdrama. These dudes got one job and screwed up every time.
well, it's 8 episodes, were they supposed to.kill them in last few minutes?
It was how they kill them off, not when. They could have played more important parts than just that. Also, 'bout each one, the lawyer's death was fair enough, but the butcher's was ridiculous. The assassin, thou he's not dead, for him to lose to such a wounded old guy was not convincing. Not to mention the lady police officer, I reckon she could barely survive that many hits in the head. Maybe I expected more interactions among the characters.
Gotta say this drama is more or less a mess. Some parts are good, others are irrational, and so are the characters. Introducing each character in each episode and then putting them together was a good idea, but killing them off so easily is such a waste. This drama is an average tbh.
I love how they handled the problems in the show, the characters were also sane and logical, unlike most cases in thriller series. My favorite part is the ending as well. They all got what they deserved.
Since I read the webtoon and heard that S1 was nowhere related to the original story, I decided to try S2 first. To be fair, it turned out to be surprisingly good as I watched it with a completely different perspective. I like the concept of expanding the world and focusing on the outside world, more than on one place only.
I got into half of the first ep and I had to drop this. The scenes are very nice and I love the views of the mountains and forests. Unfortunately, the situation they set up there was so irritating. First of all, the male lead was requested to join the search without proper geared-up and hardly knew about the area. Then, the very common iconic heroic actions of the leads. They went out searching alone, in the storming night. I mean, the chief was absolutely right to call off the search. What if they got lost and missing and they had to send more rangers just to find them, wouldn't that cause more trouble? My interest immediately stopped there tbh.
Han Dong Soo killed Seo Do Young and the younger brother also died. Han Dong Soo was about to suicide but it turned out that he didn't (Tbh, I think he didn't dare to). He then became the head of the illegal online gambling from the inside, and from the outside, he was a famous lawyer fighting for "victims" who were forced to commit crimes, somehow similar to his own story.
This ending is one of the rarest I ever seen. With the mindset that justice always wins in most dramas, this is much more interesting, even though it was so unfair for many characters. I love how Han Dong Soo changed slowly but you can still feel his greed and cowardice of him through the drama till the end. It means he was always that way, he just only needed leverage. Evil will eventually live indeed.
I know Han Ju Won needed to solve the case, but sometimes I wish he just stopped making Dong Shik suffer. The guy had more than enough already. The first half was written very well. It was intense and mostly unpredictable. However, the second half was dragging, maybe because the villains showed up too much talking about those unnecessary things. The story there got easier to predict. And of course, Shin Ha Kyun's acting is top notch as usual. He may have one of the most remarkable smiles ever.
It's just an okay drama. The pace is slow and the thriller and horror is not enough for such kind of drama. Whoever came up with this poster may expect it to be a match for The Guest. Unfortunately, it couldn't be, not even close. Though the rating is too high, which is kinda weird and unexpected .
It was so sad that everyone got the happy ending except Todo. He ended up in prison and unaware of his daughter's death, which means until he gets discharged, he still clings to the hope that she still out there somewhere. So heartbreaking just to think of that.

And really, Kim Moo Yul's characters should stop dying so many times 🥲
