Agree with you that this drama doesn’t compare to Goodbye My Princess at all. The ML was so toxic in GMP, while Zhousheng Chen is the complete opposite. He’s one of the few ML that I’ve fallen in love with (along with Ashile Sun and Bai Jue 😊).
I had a hard time finishing GMP, but with One and Only I’ve rewatched numerous times and made MANY fmv on YouTube. The storyline (despite having a tragic ending) is very beautiful.
Okay someone said there was an alternative ending by fans…I tried search8ng for it but couldn’t find?….I…
It was possted by PeachBlossomGoddess about 2 weeks ago. Below is her post:
“I have fan subbed the O&O alternate ending. It takes awhile and is probably still uploading - I posted it as a spoiler in the comment section of my review.
Me too..I think they traumatized me…Zsc sacrificed so much his whole life..how can he die so tortuously..no…
I’m glad his death scene was “short”, despite being painful. If Shiyi was in that much pain from her sleep, can you image what he was going through? It’s no wonder the reincarnation of the crown prince in Forever and Ever owes him alot in the modern life.
Love this drama very much. Just finished rewatching all episodes, and still made me cry the second time around…
This was answered by @PeachBlossomGoddess on the “One and Only” page. All credit goes to her. I’m just reposting 😊.
“Shanglin Fu or Imperial Park Rhapsody was written by one of China’s most famous ancient poets. The first line Shiyi gets stuck on 女以色授 男以魂与 (nǚ yǐ sè shòu nán yǐ hún yǔ) means a woman’s beauty entices or ensnares a man’s soul. This is a key line that is portrayed in many scenes where ZSC appears struck or smitten by Shiyi’s beauty. The next phrase 情投意合 心倾于侧 (qíng tóu yì hé xīn qīng yú cè) means their affections are in harmony and their hearts overflow or are captured. This also plays out in how their hearts and minds are as one and their goals are unified. As with Chinese poems, there are many layers of meaning so this can also be interpreted to be about lust and desire and how souls combine in ecstasy which is why Shiyi stumbles on the poem to begin with as she realizes how suggestive it could be. It speaks to a maturing young girl and her growing sexual awareness.”
Love this drama so much except the ending. What was your favorite scene? Mine was after the battle in episode…
Gosh.... there are so many scenes that I love from this drama. I will particularly always remember her walk to the city wall and how she ultimately jumped off. The way that it was film.....to all her lines that were said during that scene....😭 So heart-wrenching...
Hi, thank you, the fmv is great. I have watched all the ones you've made. I love the one with the song It's Not…
It wasn’t my intention to make anyone cry. It’s just that these two dramas has captivated so many people with their beautiful love story. I actually had the intention of making the fmv with the song “It’s Not Goodbye” when One and Only first aired. It literally took me a month to make this fmv, from gathering over 200 audio clips and video clips to putting them together to make the story flow smoothly. I haven’t been maybe to decide which fmv I like more, either “It’s Not Goodbye” or “You Are The Reason”. 😂
