So there's no character tropes for women, or are there just no women characters, or did you just not look at women…
I think it's all up to personal taste. She wrote "this is one of the first female characters I liked" for Song Yi. It wasn't supposed to be sexist or rude or anything, it's just their preference. I tend to prefer male characters too, mainly because they tend to undergo the most character development (and a lot of female actors are typecast as whiny or dumb or way too ignorant, sadly). There are definitely some great female characters... but not everyone will like them anyway.
+ This is "character types"; the characters used are only examples, and the character types is what this article is more about. These types of characters can be portrayed by females too and sometimes have been, but again, perhaps the author didn't like the portrayal.
I want to watch sth with him to understand why is he being constantly name-dropped, but everything is so old...…
It seems like you're more after a drama, but I really can't recommend "The Man From Nowhere" enough. It's quite dark, honestly. There aren't just a few gory scenes and underlying tones of violence - it's all on display. Organ farming, kidnapping, murder, drugs. But, perhaps as a silver lining type thing, there is the relationship between Won Bin's character and a little girl played by Kim Sae Ron. All of the acting, even by the supporting actors, is great. The character development is great. There is one scene where Won Bin shaves his hair - and let me tell you, he looks great.
If you're wanting to find out why Won Bin is constantly name-dropped, you should check it out. He's very famous for his good looks (like I mentioned, seriously, that hair shaving scene, good bye) but more so because he's a very talented actor. The end of "The Man From Nowhere" is killer. But so is the rest of the movie if we're being real tho ~ It's a bit sad though, for sure.
I like the parallel between Hae Kang and Seol Ri, and Baek Seok and Jin Eon. Baek Seok even says to Jin Eon some of the things Hae Kang said to Seol Ri (like "don't try to sway my partner"). I think it kind of foreshadows that Jin Eon and Hae Kang will end up together, just as a "repeating history" kind of thing. But I haven't finished the drama, so maybe not.
"Did you kiss Chul?"
"I had to"
"No way. You did it on purpose. Everyone knows you're a fan of Chul"
ahahahhaha ~
I feel like I'm late to this drama although I'm three episodes in and there are only six so far. So much has happened already! Still, it doesn't feel like it's being rushed which is an amazing feat ~ I don't even mind Han Hyo Joo's acting tbh.
Yeah the ex is back.... but perhaps we could also consider the director's' budget..... on producing the next season...…
It's less so the budget than Chinese entertainment laws; they're quite strict on what does and doesn't appear on TV. "Irregular" relationships (including but not limited to LGBT+ relationships) are a grey zone. Apparently the main leads in this have been banned from appearing together, because although homosexual relationships have been allowed thus far (regulations might have changed recently though), Addicted Heroin garnered quite a large following which may have been seen as 'dangerous' (because everyone knows you can become gay from seeing gay people, right? pfft, ahaha).
For Korean dramas... "Bad Guys". Park Hae Jin's acting is killer (his character withstanding) and it was nice and short. "Cruel City" is definitely up there too though I haven't finished it yet.
e/ there's also Coffee Prince...
why am I having an existential crisis over this oh my God
Right! There's Lee Ki Woo, too, who's 197cm. It's weird how they both don't look super tall until they stand next to other people; I suppose they just have great proportions ahahahah ~
