Lan Ling Wang, Bu Bu Jing Xin and Battle of Changsha... frankly as much as I enjoy dramas from other countries, Chinese dramas hold a special place in my heart, haha
As someone who hasn't watched that many dramas, would you guys be able to recommend me similar ones? I actually…
I haven't watched My Name yet but it sounds quite similar to Cruel City? It shares some main themes and ideas (motivation of revenge, working undercover, etc.) :-)
Joonhyuk, who plays Eunuch Jang Hoon Nam, is honestly perfect in this drama. his facial expressions are so dang hilarious and on point. i also love the hiccups becoming a 'signal' hahaha
tbf, i can see both sides - not liking something because it is inherently converse to your beliefs vs suspending…
funny you mentioned Autumn's Concerto; it's one of my favourite dramas!
i think i kind of mean the same thing as you? in that when we're watching older media now, we can excuse certain things if the quality of production, acting, etc. is good. i don't mean that this drama necessarily aligned with the social views at the time, rather that people who wouldn't have watched it when it came out because they disagreed with it may be more likely to watch it now DESPITE that IF the quality was good. like, when something is current, and especially if you're watching through official channels, it feels more like a betrayal of morals? haha
out of curiousity... didn't soojin bully her? isn't soojin's choosing to bully someone the reason that she had…
hmm... no she didn't? she said she didn't mention soojin first; soojin had allegations of bullying, shin ae posted something on instagram that said "none of your excuses" and then soojin released a statement about that/shin ae. also, YEARS ago shin ae has talked about how she experienced bullying so it's not as if suddenly made up at a 'convenient' time. but bear in mind the messages are also in English and even in the messages shin ae said things may not be conveyed well because she isn't a native speaker. again, assuming the messages truly were from her at all.
out of curiousity... didn't soojin bully her? isn't soojin's choosing to bully someone the reason that she had…
i can agree with you there - i think while bullying is awful, and while some victims of bullying really suffer even into adulthood because of it, it still can't be treated like murder or something that someone has JUST done. there are many cases of idols who were proven to be bullies but nothing happened including that they didn't apologise, cases where idols were proven not to be bullies after having apologised publicly (nct taeyong springs to mind, for that one), etc. but losing your job as an adult because of something you did as a child is... idk, i personally cannot get behind that. how will people grow with that mindset? but yeah, i really hope there is clarification for soojin. if it turns out she did bully people and decided to withdraw from g-idle (which is how cube made it sound but how much can you trust that, really), okay. but if she was kicked out, if she withdrew but is actually innocent... i hope we can find out. also, shin ae from what i've seen doesn't seem bad but some of the people surrounding her have really handled this disgustingly. that being said, i hope that people stop bashing shinae too because at the end of the day, she may very well be a victim. i saw that a lot of people were leaving death threats on her instagram earlier.
out of curiousity... didn't soojin bully her? isn't soojin's choosing to bully someone the reason that she had…
i just recall soojin saying "if i did something wrong, of course i will leave the group". so i guess for me that fact that she left and is silent is just confusing because it doesn't make sense for her to be quiet if she did nothing wrong but still left (unless there are ongoing legal proceedings). it doesn't even make sense for CUBE to be quiet because if she chose to leave, it would wash their hands of the situation. if they kicked her out because the allegations were true, it would be said to once again make them seem in the right.
anyway, i'm not sure if you're reading the original korean articles or translated versions but at least on a lot of english sites, the translations are wrong; there are cases of sometimes excluding words like 'alleged' (just one example would where they were talking about what should have been an ALLEGED classmate who came to soojin's defense but suddenly simply became a classmate even though there was no proof at all). also there are many posts online in korean where people are posting proof of having attended the same school at the same time and having been bullied or treated poorly by soojin. while it is difficult to prove whether someone is bullied or not, i think it's important to realise that this case HASN'T actually been proven to be false and it was never just seo shin ae accusing soojin.
again, i don't necessarily think idols should leave their groups because of past transgressions BUT bullying is not uncommon at all in korea. it is a big problem and i wouldn't be surprised if quite a few idols have bullied (and/or been bullied by) schoolmates. there needs to be more accountability taken when this has happened. i guess i don't mean leaving the group but giving an apology? of course. i just soojin or cube releases a statement because at the moment, given soojin's own words, it doesn't make sense...
just because of this woman soojin had to leave her group, this is annoying me so much :/
out of curiousity... didn't soojin bully her? isn't soojin's choosing to bully someone the reason that she had to leave her group? i'm not saying that i necessarily think one way or the other (that soojin should have stayed or she should have left), but the reason she has left is because of her own past actions.
Not for the "woke" people of the new generation. C'mon guys. This drama is based on Itazura Na Kiss manga that…
tbf, i can see both sides - not liking something because it is inherently converse to your beliefs vs suspending moral judgement because it's literally a show that is a decade old and based on a manga that is decades older still. you should be able to, and in fact most can, enjoy something without agreeing with it.
that being said, i will point out that usually people are more forgiving with older media that doesn't align with contemporary values - or even advocates against them - when said media is actually of a solid standard. this drama is cute at times but it obviously isn't high quality, nor was it in any regard (acting, filming, etc.) at the time of its creation. usually when people are forgiving of older media, it is because there are enriching aspects
Very sweet drama, sweet romance and cute plot. I liked it.Here's my issue: The writers had a cool supernatural…
I haven't yet watched this and while I understand where you're coming from, perhaps a lack of supernatural happenings actually makes more sense given the Gumiho wants to be a human?
The guy playing Yang Yu, the one who pretended to be a cleaner... his facial expressions are really creepy. He kind of reminds me of Joo Won a bit, and he's seems like a good actor too. ~

e. although he does look a lot older than 18, wow
