I feel like this drama has missed the mark. It doesn't excel in any area (not quite romance, not quite friendship; too many loopholes and poorly explored events to be a solid mystery; a bit too timid to be a thriller, etc.), is repetitious and the plot doesn't seem to progress - or, if it does, it's as if we take one step forward and two steps back. For example, there is a specific flashback that is shown what very well might be every episode without additional details being revealed :')
For some reason I don't dislike the show but I'm wondering if it's more because I really, really wanted to like it, or even because I'm thinking of what it could have been rather than... what it actually has become.
In case you truly don't understand why your comments are met with resistance, it's probably because the situation regarding ZZH and censorship is incredibly sensitive. While there will be fans who try to blame people who shouldn't be blamed (such as other actors), I don't see any such comments on this page. Sometimes when providing translations for content, it may come from communities that have people like that but it doesn't mean they are being supported - it's just in order to share relevant translations of unbiased posts. So coming here where people are, with good intent, trying to show their support for someone who is going through a difficult time and to share updates, and instead choosing to post things that aren't showing any support or consideration at all, really comes off in poor taste.
lmao it's fine to have your own opinion but... maybe try respecting other people's opinions too? a lot of people don't like watching 20 episodes of the main characters umming and ahing about whether to get together or not. wouldn't it ACTUALLY be boring if we only had series that followed one format (two people meet, get together eventually - end of show)?
anyway, how would you get from TexanTitan's comment that they didn't want to "know about" the character's feelings? they literally said the exact opposite.
Read (from an unverified source) that ZZH might be seeking help for depression. Of course I hope he is all well and fine but truly I think it would be difficult to face what he is facing and not be met with a slew of negative emotions, whether he has depression or not, so failing that, I'm just really hoping he is has a solid support system.
oh wow, i didn't realise he was a child actor until visiting his page but now i recognise him from doctor john! good to know he's finally getting some proper recognition and main roles.
re the accusations he is currently facing of having partaken in making a list ranking female peers' attractiveness... i personally am choosing not to care about it. assuming it is true, it happened in 2015 when he was 13/14. i think most people have spoken about things like this too (although maybe few have written it down).
it also doesn't seem like he has been involved in anything similar since then? of course it's not kind but it speaks more of immaturity than anything - which, of course, is fair to expect of a young teen. the allegations say both that he was punished for this and has since apologised.
also it's pretty interesting that the infidelity is more focused on by many than the abuse. tbh i think sometimes…
i think you misunderstood me. a lot of people were commenting disapprovingly about the inclusion of cheating in this drama but seemed indifferent to the inclusion of abuse. i just found it odd given the latter is, in most circumstances, more deleterious.
but i mentioned too that some dramas that deal with similar themes as this one do so too lightly and can end up carelessly promoting reprobate behaviour (e.g. cheating, abuse, etc.) and that i hoped this wouldn't be like that. bear in mind, my previous comment was made before Kingyo Tsuma even aired!
as soon as nayeon started wiping gyeong su's scratch, i knew what was happening. but i feel like his death was too early because he was definitely one of the more likeable characters, at least in my opinion.
J-dramas are always underrated, I don’t know why. Sometimes, I try dramas based on its ratings (around 9 ratings…
i think the reason behind it is because on MDL many users started off only watching dramas from korea (or even china). the storytelling, main themes, common acting style, how heavy matters are handled (or if they're included at all), the inclusion (or again lack thereof) of special effects/cgi, etc. differs immensely from kdramas to cdramas to jdramas to whatever else. so some people go in expecting one thing and then dislike it because it doesn't hit the mark, despite that the drama was overall a good one and they may have enjoyed it otherwise.
it's a shame but it can't be helped. hell, some people will rate something they enjoyed low because the quality was objectively bad; others will rate something that they didn't enjoy high because it was a quality production. ratings will never be "objective". personally that's why i think it's better to read the reviews. one person might rate something relatively low because of aspects that would make you rate it high, after all.
usually i like the male lead and second male lead which means no matter who gets the girl, i'm happy about the outcome - and also sad about the outcome 😅
Unpopular opinion: infidelity dramas aren't as bad as you think...! People are tearing this drama to pieces even…
also it's pretty interesting that the infidelity is more focused on by many than the abuse. tbh i think sometimes dramas with a premise similar to this can come off as romanticising (either the adultery or the abuse, though usually the former) but also that, when they do not, they can be very deep and poignant.
I’m such a mood watcher so i can’t even plan anything out. This challenge is kicking my butt
while i think sometimes it's fun to prompt yourself to find a drama you wouldn't usually consume, i would say it also works to watch what you want to watch first and then see where it fits into the challenge later 😅
"4) and a vampire can instantly sense them (but apparently only if they touch his blood, since he sat bahind him…
yeah, explaining the eyes was a bit redundant (especially because i actually believe jun ho's eyes also turned blue at another moment during the episode where he wasn't using any powers LOL). i guess i don't feel that the explanations haven taken up too much time so far but frankly if they use even 2 minutes every episode for essentially pointless clarifications, it will end up being ~20% of the show which is... crazy.
re writers... well, better writers tend to be more expensive (or rather their scripts tend to be more expensive). you can have two shows that LOOK to be of a similar budget but the general rule of thumb is that if one has a better script, it was a more expensive production.
although also on that note, fantasy series (and extensions of the same: paranormal, science fiction, etc.) tend to be harder to produce well on a low budget than your regular fiction series such as something like 'where your eyes linger' (which i really quite enjoyed too!)
i guess all i'm saying is... this is definitely going to be a low budget series that can't hide that it is low budget. so if you bear that in mind, and keep your expectations low, it will probably be more enjoyable. HAHA i would never recommend lowering your expectations when it comes to friendships, relationships, etc. but for a series, sometimes it works wonders 🤭
I didn't like it very much - the writing isn't very good. If you're going to use an established creature like…
"4) and a vampire can instantly sense them (but apparently only if they touch his blood, since he sat bahind him in class and never noticed)"
in all fairness, that was mentioned in the first minute of the first episode; that pure blood can only be recognized when a vampire comes into contact with the blood, haha.
this is a relatively low budget series and is going to be incredibly short. i think if you are to get any enjoyment out of it, you need to bear this in mind. not every series is going to be a literary and cinematic masterpiece, and if you expect the same or analyse it as if it is - well, then there's really nothing to get out of it.
While I agree that it was a bit weird of Dan to bring Yok to his place of residence, I guess the ID card essentially…
Before posting my first response, I sort of cut out something important, I think 😅 Originally I said (and probably should have kept in) that what sparked the interest was Dan knowing that Yok was part of the group that set fire to the forest house/realising he was an activist, so I guess I felt like the immediate interest made sense - even though many people are activists, most wouldn't go to such extremes to fight for their beliefs. This aligns with Dan's opinion that it's hard to bring about change so sometimes you must go above and beyond. Like it wasn't just that Dan was interested AND THEN found out that Yok was an activist, which my initial comment implied. The initial interest was BECAUSE Yok was an activist and approached him.
But then, too, finding out that their interests extend beyond activism, when activism is already something that (I feel) says a lot about a person. From my experience, people who are seriously interested in art tend to connect pretty easily with other artists, especially if their work centres around similar content.
Of course it all depends on the viewer though! I don't mind the immediate attraction trope, in general, even without any scenes to rationalise it, because I find that pretty true to real life. Sometimes people just really like how someone else looks, haha, or they find their demeanour captivating. Falling in love at first sight, on the other hand? I can get behind that almost always being a bad choice or an easy out for a storyline. I think it would interesting if shows explored this idea where people fall in 'love' at first sight only to realise they hate the person they thought they loved when they ACTUALLY get to know them LOL.
All that said, if the scene progresses how it looks like it will, with Dan getting naked for Yok's art piece, I will also feel like it is too much, too soon, hahaha

In any case, I wanted to share this performance because it is so lovely and ZZH's voice so beautiful🙂
