I'm very hesitant to watch this. Can someone tell me how toxic the relationship on a scale of 1 to 10 so I'm prepared.
In my opinion (one that I formed after watching 2 episodes), the relationship and the dynamic that the leads share so far is unique and unlike what I've come across in other shows. The concept used in the show is something I myself have witnessed in high school and I personally wouldn't label it 'toxic' in relation with Utsukushii Kare. There's a bit of bullying (nothing physical yet) so if you can stand that, I think you can give this a shot. The leads are very three dimensional and have personalities that are intriguing and also morally grey (and this comes from both the main characters) which is why I think this show is something I would recommend because grey characters aren't usually portrayed very well, but this show does it decently so far.

Very unpopular opinion, but the cheating in the first episode (I watched only ep 1 so far) makes this show have an interesting start for me. Morally grey characters? Hell yeah, I want to see how they fuck up and seek retribution or how they get out of the entire ordeal... And I also think this caters to an audience seeking angst, so I 'kind of' understand the low ratings (I might understand better after I watch more). I'm all for great and genuine personalities, but I think watching another dimension in fiction isn't doing any harm.

I think all the negative reviews really set my standards for this show low because I just finished watching ep 2 and things aren't looking bad haha.... I heard people say the first three episodes are quite bad but I truly didn't hate them. In fact, skipping the sponsor ads and a bit here and there, I quite liked how light everything is XD... One should probably be in the right state of mind (that caters to this show) in order to enjoy this haha

I am just putting myself in Light's shoes here. If I was assaulted, abused, and treated like shit the way he was, not knowing what I was living for, and suddenly a stranger who I've never met before is being the gentlest human I know of, it'd kill me. The kindness would kill me because it's something I've never experienced before. And the actors got that so right! I'm sobbing as I write this because I pray for no one to be in Light's shoes. And for those who live as him, I hope they find a Shuo to help them out!
