Before I paid, I too searched around to watch them for free (mostly cause navigating the Youku app was such a pain) but there is no one posting it online.... but you can watch it in HDR on the Youku Website which is totally worth it if u have the means to pay! :)

1) The old lady and man kidnapped Gao Xiao Lin (not Zhang Cheng ling) but the motive wasn't revealed yet. U might have to watch a bit more to know why. (But also probably for the reason u mentioned) 2) It was most probably to take ZCL as a hostage... tbh, this plot is quite different and deeper than the novel's original plot so it's hard to say exactly why but I have been wondering the same. 3) GC was being responsible for his brother's only living son. 4) I'm pretty sure he just wanted to take care and keep him closer but also because of the guilt.
The novel is sooo different, and now I am genuinely confused as to what's original to the novel and drama cause everything is a big mess XD I'm just letting u know what I interpreted.

I live in a country where Youku is banned :'( ... I am just regretting my decision of watching this while it's airing.... Be in the look out for Immortality and Winner Is King which are scheduled to air soon! Fans of the novel are hoping the adaptation will do justice to the story and romance from the book and if it does happen that way, then it might as be good as Word of Honor or even better XD
