the way da woon turned into the saddest puppy got me so sad :(( he rlly thought si won's going to abandon him…
I know! He was such a wounded puppy that he just kept returning to Si Won's house. I counted 3 times. First, he went on his bike when he saw the artist girl there, and turned around and left. Second, he went when he apologized but was basically tongue tied and left. Third, he went the morning after having that dream. That's when they finally talked it out. But he was really scared and asked, "Am I too late?" Nearly broke my heart!

About to start this. It’s rated higher than Semantic Error, so it better be worth the hype :)))).
They are very different styles, so try not to compare them. SE crackled with energy and humor. This show is a sensitive portrayal of a young man's lifelong battle with insecurity due to childhood obesity and abandonment by his father. He enters a relationship with a seemingly "perfect" young man, but that man is also tentative and unsure in life. I won't give the specifics, but in general, it's about 2 guys whose love for each other helps them find emotional security, while also directing them on their respective career paths.

I loved how Da Woon started off as a strong person, while Si Won was insecure. Da Woon was a helpmate who picked up Si Won in his van at dawn and bought him coffee. He took photos of Si Won, and built his self esteem. Da Woon's the one who planned the beach trip, where he initiated their 1st kiss. And he's the one who asked, "Shall we spend the night here?" whereupon they had sex the 1st time. He was the take charge guy in the pair.

But when it looked like their relationship might be over -- bam! -- De Woon's strength suddenly melted and he turned into the saddest puppy. It's a testament to this show's quality that the audience could feel how in love Da Woon had to have been to suddenly lose his strength and become so sad.

It was a subtle performance, but you could definitely sense the shifting undercurrent as Da Woon's feelings moved from self-assurance to sadness. It was all in his small facial expressions (mostly, his soulful eyes). Likewise, the actor playing Si Won did an amazing job expressing insecurity with tiny mannerisms, such as the way he would make eye contact with Da Woon for just a second, before darting his eyes away to look at the ground, and then dart his eyes back up tentatively to make eye contact again. It was as if the character were checking back and forth to test if Da Woon was accepting him or not.

Both the actors did a terrific job giving controlled, subtle performances. There was no over-the-top acting on display here. Moreover, drama students will tell you that acting with small, quiet facial expressions is much more difficult than acting in scenes where one has big explosions of temper or tears. Thus, it's particularly impressive that "Blueming" is the first acting job for both of these young men.

Si Won was elected the class president at the freshmen orientation and Da Woon didn't join the orientation, so…
Ok, that's why Da Woon was talking about not having gone to orientation. And skipping orientation to work at a studio made him look even cooler in Si Won's eyes, lol. Poor Si Won! Thank you for the explanation.

SO GOOD AND RAW AND REALISTIC AND HONEST AND JUST UGHHHHH... go watch it!
Yep, realistic and honest. I can imagine these 2 guys are real people whose relationship would last in the real world. There was nothing over the top or over romanticized about. Just an insecure guy and the one who saw his inner worth. Lovely.

You've missed a few Korean BLs in there, not only for last year, but this year as well...Tinted with You and Final…
I just pulled up To My Star, and you're right. There was the quick kiss that pissed off the chef when they were on the picnic, and then the kiss at the end in bed. The kiss in bed was longer than the quick, closed mouth kisses in other Korean BL's from a couple years ago that I listed. But it still was not like the kissing scenes we're getting in 2022. I think that the directors in Korea have simply gotten braver this year. Know what I mean? And it's great to see!

The character was portrayed as a flawed human being who lost his temper. All human beings lose their tempers.…
It's sold on a couple of different forms. I got it on something called Tappytoons. If you read it, hope you enjoy it!

Because some people will only watch one episode, and like you said things can change - people can also change…
Hey, I was pretty relaxed in how I expressed myself when I said, " To be clear, I get that people are enthusiastic about KinnPorsche" and "I wasn't trying to say people had no right to express enthusiasm, but that it's too early for ratings/reviews." That was a chill statement. So why not make a chill reply in turn?

I just started watching bl dramasPls can I get bl drama recommendation, apart from this and semantic Error.
1) Cherry Blossoms After Winter (Korean)

2) Where Your Eyes Linger (Korean, same director as Bluming)

3) Cherry Magic (Japanese and oh so charming!)

4) My Beautiful Man (Japanese)

5) Uncontrolled Love: Secret of the Valet (Chinese)
It's a 3 hour movie with 2 versions, one of which is a sad ending and one of which is a happy ending. Make sure you google "Uncontrolled Love Happy Ending"

*There are tons of Thai BL's, but most are glorified product placement ads. For example, the characters go around shouting the brand name of a soft drink while prominently displaying the label on camera. But a couple of Thai BL's are worth tolerating all the product placement advertising. TharnType, for instance, is good.

BLUEMING IS KOREA'S 6th BL IN SPRING 2022!

1 Blueming
2 Semantic Error
3 Cherry Blossoms After Winter
4 Kissable Lips
5 First Love Again
6 Oh, Boarding House

It's hard to believe it's only been 2 years since "Where Your Eyes Linger," because Korea's come such a long way since that seminal BL hit (by the same director as "Blueming"). When WYEL came out in 2020, Korean BL's were known for only one brief kiss with closed lips at the end. This is what we saw in: Where Your Eyes Linger, Nobleman Ryu's Wedding, Mr. Heart, To My Star, and Color Rush. Yet all 6 of the Korean BL's that aired this spring featured what I call long, wet kisses one feels at the back of their neck! "Semantic Error" had one long, wet kiss in the penultimate episode. "Cherry Blossom" has already had two long, wet kissing scenes and we're only on episode 6 out of 8! And 'Blueming" also had 2 long, wet kissing scenes.

All in all, the Koreans are rocking the BL scene. Keep 'em coming Korea!

That feeling when you just need extra pats on the head while admitting that you dislike French Avant Garde Cinema, and prefer trashy fun like "Mean Girls." Then, best of all, the guy you like flat-out falls in love with you for admitting it!

Why was the purpose of Ci Won's 1st time meeting Da Woon at that film studio? They were going over some papers and talking about, "customers putting items in a basket." It sounded like an online store akin to Amazon. I don't get it. Can someone explain????

Because some people will only watch one episode, and like you said things can change - people can also change…
I am in academia as well and teach English at my alma mater, Columbia. One may write an academic paper on one chapter of a book, but I've never seen a book review of one chapter of a book. I read the New York Times Book Review every week, as well as the book reviews in other weekly magazines such as the New Yorker, New York Magazine and the Atlantic. I also read movie reviews in these publications. Critics for all such publications must read or watch and entire work before reviewing it.

To be clear, I get that viewers are excited about KinnPorsche and that's cool. But I thought that this comment section was the place for a community of fans to express enthusiasm. That's all. I wasn't trying to say people had no right to express enthusiasm, but that it's too early for ratings/reviews. As I said before, I only came to MDL today for the comments, and was surprised to see so many reviews and high ratings.

I don't trust MDL ratings anymore to be honest because people will create multiple accounts just to give shows…
I think "My Beautiful Man" is brilliant. But a lot these Social Justice Warrior types complained that Hira's obsession was "problematic" and that Kiyio's calling him creepy (ie, kimo in Japanese) was "toxic." So they came to MDL with fake accounts to lower the rating. I was shocked that people would take the trouble to do such a thing. It showed that they simply did not get the complexity of the characters.

I mean, the whole point of the show was that Hira was obsessed and that Kiryio was poor at communication. He used that word "kimo" for everything. He even said it when the director commended him saying "I love you" correctly. If you removed Hira's so-called "problematic" obsession and Kiyoi's "toxic" name-calling like those girls wanted, there would be no show!

I think they were incapable of getting the theme of the show because it was subtle. For instance, Hira was an unreliable narrator, and the audience found out at episode 5 that his perception of things was not entirely accurate, and Kiyoi was not as toxic as they were saying.

At any rate, the show got a 9.6 on Viki. That's a true rating cuz Viki verifies subscribers and only allows ONE rating/review per viewer. But it got a frigging 7.9 on MDL, which allows multiple accounts, and does not verify views of shows at all.

Why the hell are you overreacting. If you care that much then watch this show after it finishes airing. Then you…
I guess so. But I actually only came to MDL for the comments today, not the reviews/ratings. In fact, I was quite surprised when I saw so many reviews and the high rating. I am not planning on watching the show until it has 6-7 episodes out, because it's frustrating to have to wait a whole week for each episode. I always wait for a series to be at least half done before starting it. At that point, I'll begin watching KinnPorsche and check MDL again for reviews and the rating. I think it will be more accurate then. Although, these early ratings will also inflate the later ratings, so I'll have to take that into account.

I've seen it happen in the opposite direction when people gave low ratings for the 1st episode of show that started slow but improved. Even though people who completed the show eventually gave it 8's and 10's the overall rating was still lowered because of low ratings based on the 1st episode. In short, a show that became better still had a lower rating because those early low ratings were still being averaged in. See?

That's why MDL should not allow ratings based on only 1 or 2 episodes.

I noticed that some reviews will say things like, "That top part was my first review when I only saw 2 episodes, but from hereon is my edited review after seeing more of the episodes" It's confusing as fuck. Why not just wait to see more of the show and then review it?

I mean, movie reviews and book reviews that we see in magazines and newspapers are always by critics who've read or seen the entire work. That's why we trust them, right? They help us know if we should waste our time on a book or movie or not. I used to think that MDL reviews/ratings served the same purpose. But I guess not.

I never knew how obsessive BL fans could be until "My Beautiful Man" when I discovered that critics were setting up multiple accounts just to trash the show and lower its rating. It went from an 8.6 to a 7.9 in a matter of a month from people calling it "toxic." I trust Viki, however, because it only allows ratings/reviews from verifiable subscribers and only ONE rating/review per viewer. There are none of these fake multiple accounts like on MDL.

Thus, when "My Beautiful Man" got a 9.6 on Viki, it was a true and accurate rating. All the BL's on Viki got vastly different ratings than they got on MDL. It's because MDL is corrupted by fake accounts, and because people rate a show after watching less than 10% of it.

Many things can change in the next 13 episodes of the show. For instance, plot holes may appear, or plot points may turn out to be predictable instead of surprising, or in some cases even illogical. The pacing may slow down. Characters may be introduced who will be undeveloped. Maybe the climax will be underwhelming. Or maybe everything will be perfect. Who knows what may transpire in this show down the road. That's the whole point. We do not know yet. That's why it is absurd for MDL to allow Ratings & Reviews based on merely 1 hour of a 14 hour show."
