If you pay close attention to ML and FL clothing, you may notice that the colour of their clothes correspond to their love to another. The deeper, the more love they have for another. ML's clothes went from white to black in his timeline and FL's clothes went from white to dark red in her timeline ;)
Happy watching! Maybe prepare some tissues as well ;)
I like it a lot that they didn't introduce a HE out of nowhere, which would make the whole story unbelievable and pointlessly sad since its beginning.
Maybe you would like to try watching Joy of Life? It has cleverly written scripts, fun story and great acting from the cast.
If you would like to watch some which set in modern times, you can try Mr. Bad or Dear Diary. Both have fun stories and strong start, but unfortunately got a little draggy near the middle part imho. However, there are still many people who enjoyed those two, so might worth a try?
that they didn't forcefully give it a happy ending
I like Lu Shi as well! Was so sad when he died. But after thinking about it, he died protecting his loved ones and for his kingdom, just like how he wished when he was younger, this might be one of the better endings for him.
couldn't agree more!! I keep coming back here because the current historical dramas airing just can't compete…
If you haven't check out An Ancient Love Song yet, I would like to recommend you that series. It's a a great one but hits very differently, compared to TSL =D
Hii...can someone please tell me is it a HE without spoiling the story ? Thanks in advance
Not a happy ever after ending, but an open ending, heavily hinting a HE. I would say that it is a reasonable "happy" ending, but one may say that it is an open ending as well.
Ohh, I totally understand that hahaha. I prefer light and happy drama most of the time as well.
Regarding the ending, the ML did not die. As for the FL, she is long dead in modern times and is already dead in the first episode (ML's pov and audiences' view), but if you follow the ML's timeline, the last "version" of FL he met is the youngest one, so you can technically say that she is not dead at the end in the ML's time-travel timeline.
Now I am wondering if the drama will only cover season 1 of the animation? Or will they cover season 2 as well? Or will they make major change to the story that the story could be completed in 24 episodes?
The animation just released season 2 and it seems like the story still has quite a long way to go, many things waiting to be revealed imo
May I know if it's because of the ending? The ending fits well with the story imho, since this story has a pretty sad overall tone. If you are looking for a happy drama, just skip this haha, but if you don't mind a "sad" story, can consider giving it a watch. Good acting and interesting twist to the time-travel theme in C-dramas. The ending is by no means a "bad" ending, just not a happily-ever-after one.
The most similar one would be the Sisters Who Make Waves series, the female artists version (parent version) of this show. Otherwise, some other survival shows for idol group formation like Produce Camp and Idol Producer or Youth With You series shares more or less the same structure as Call Me By Fire (CMBF), but with much newer and lesser known artists. These included singing and dancing in most of the performances.
If you are okay with only singing performances alone, I would recommend the Singers or I Am a Singer series. There is no collaboration performances other than the last episodes, so there won't be much interactions regarding the performances but the show included quite a good amount of the interactions between contestants when they are not on stage.
The currently airing Ring A Bell is good as well. Great music which recalls memories, especially if you watch C-Dramas as well. This show has more guests as progress as well, so I am curious to see how they are going to include everyone by the end of the show π
Our Song Season 1 was a pleasant watch as well. Great music and chemistries between the casts. It has pairs of younger artists with the more established ones, so the chemistry was pretty interesting.
The above shows focus much more on the music parts than the interaction parts. If you are looking for the opposite, a variety show which focus on interactions between casts with some music in between, I highly highly recommend Go For Happiness. It's kinda like a short trip of 6 singers (who are also friends irl), and they do jam and freestyle music in almost every episode. The last episode was wholly for their stage performances, but other than that, it's just the casts with their guitars or keyboard most of the times. I love how their music blends in so naturally in the show, the casts would literally start singing/ jamming after meal, during their conversation or even before they sleep.
I hope that I didn't overwhelm you with these recommendations π Enjoy!
that they didn't forcefully give it a happy ending
It depends on how you would interpret it I guess π€
I see her smile as a sign that she believes in him when he said that they will meet again in the future. It was pretty obvious for me that Lu Yuan only started to realise that Shen Bu Yan wasn't someone from her time after she learned those lessons from him. And from the extra episode, it seems like SBY didn't come back after he left at the end of ep 14 (or 1, if you watch it on BiliBili).
But still, I guess you can also interpret it as there's a parallel universe where SBY stayed and the story goes in a different direction, following LY's pov. But that would be another story which wasn't filmed π
Excellent length, which corresponds to the audiences or the ML's pov. Everything happened in a condensed manner for the ML, just like how it was presented to audiences.
