I should have known better than to scroll down to the comments and engage with anyone here. Y'all, if you like a show, don't go down to the comments or you might start feeling bad about liking it.

Well, I'm a gay man and I liked the show. Are you implying that, I, as a gay person am uncomfortable with gayness…
Isn't that the whole point? Enjoying? I genuinely couldn't care less who adapted what, in what way, and what name they gave it, as long as I enjoy it. You are treating this as some high-level issue when it really isn't that deep and berating people for 'not educating themselves' - who are you to demand that? You do not have to be an expert on an issue to have an opinion about it. And just because you, and other people, have read the manhwa and are disappointed with the way it was adapted, doesn't give you any right to berate people just because they enjoyed it or the creators for omitting or changing some things. And to answer your last two points - the creators bought the rights, and I assume got the clearance from the author of the manhwa to go through with the project so respectfully, your opinion here is nowhere near as important as the author's.

The way some ppl defending this show prefer very waterdowned version of gay romances with straightness front and…
Well, I'm a gay man and I liked the show. Are you implying that, I, as a gay person am uncomfortable with gayness being front and center? Yes, there was quite a bit of screen- and storytime devoted to the straight couple, so what? Yes, I wish there was more of the main couple, which by the way, had good chemistry and was very promising, so what? I haven't read the manhwa so I can't comment on how well they adapted it, but I nevertheless enjoyed this 'watered down' version of a gay romance. I even found myself teary-eyed during some of the scenes from the last episodes regarding identity, love, crushes, and loneliness. The show was fun to watch and yes - I am left with a slight feeling of wanting more and a bit of disappointment, but this downright bashing of the show is just weird. It was subtle, it wasn't very 'gay' and since apparently that's not your jam, maybe you should just watch something else

You know a show is good when it has people writing a fucking wall of essays in the comment section 😂 I'm really liking it so far, but I have a bad feeling about the ending 😬
On Sangmin Dinneaw Dec 30, 2024
My prayers from three months ago have been answered 😭 They actually use(or try to, in Dinneaw's case 😂) each other's language and don't rely on BL magic to understand one another!

Utterly unrealistic and worst of all - unaware of it. I don't mind slapstick comedy, ridiculous plots, or fantasy-like fight sequences as long as the production is aware of it. Here, on the other hand, they were aiming for some action-packed series with political undertones, but failed miserably because of how unrealistic it all was. The only good part about it was the romance, which is quite encouraging considering OhmLeng are a new couple and most likely have actually good projects coming their way.

I'm enjoying this so far but I'd genuinely rather no kisses than THAT. What we got so far have been dictionary-accurate acts of "touching someone's lips as a sign of affection/attraction". Yes, I realize these were their first kisses and really only one of them was taking part but, for the love of god, at least pucker your damn lips Hirukawa. It's not rocket science, you see it everywhere all the time, and manga levels of innocence come off very weird in live action dramas, at least imo. I am not saying they should be devouring each other but please just make it look like a peck otherwise it looks like someone just pushed your heads together. And trust me, I've seen A LOT of JBLs - these were some of the, if not THE worst kisses I have ever seen. And it really is a shame because the plot is interesting, there is chemistry, the actors are good-looking, but this one flaw really stands out to me. I'm doing my best to ignore it but I just had to get it out.

The only good thing about this show writing-wise is that we only got a half of a cursed EP 11 instead of a full one 😅 Progress, yay!
On Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo Oct 31, 2024
I can't lie, I don't think I'm enjoying it anymore. It's so frustrating to watch, and not in a good way. Dohoe is an insufferable brat using trauma as an excuse for literally everything, he's cold towards Juyeong and keeps hurting him. And Juyeong really is a mfing saint with his patience and determination, but it's really starting to look like he's the only one wanting to be together. I get that Dohoe has trouble communicating or expressing feelings but he's doing so many more bad things and honestly I'm kind of starting to hate him. The bed scene wasn't beautiful, sensual, nor filled with love - it was just two bodies connecting. Even if they talk it out and end up together AND happy, it will still leave a bad taste in my mouth..
On Eccentric Romance Oct 25, 2024
The bitesize format is really this show's saving grace. If it was any longer, I would have definitely dropped it by now - it's not that it's very bad, it just doesn't stand out in any way.
On Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo Oct 24, 2024
Maybe I'm just too dumb and missing something big, but isn't Dohoe just kind of acting like an ass towards Juyeong, for no good reason at all? From my understanding, he abandoned Juyeong, he didn't keep in touch, he chose to get away, and Juyeong, not able to contact or find him, did the second best thing that was staying with Dohoe's dad hoping they would eventually meet. I genuinely don't get the conflict..
On Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart! Oct 21, 2024
I'm not usually one to get second couple syndrome or be even remotely interested in side couples in general, but Tattoo and Aran already hold a special place in my heart 🥹 I don't know why but they just seem so right together - can't wait for more development in their relationship, especially since we've been kind of going in circles when it comes to Jack and Joke's situationship these past episodes 😅

Honestly, expecting consistency in terms of good plot and writing from GMMTV is quite foolish, I gotta say 😅 They literally make like 1-2 great BLs a year, while the rest is just average(I still enjoy most of them, despite all their flaws, big or small). I really wished Kidnap would have been one of those two but unfortunately, I don't think that will be the case. I love OhmLeng, their chemistry, the music, but the story is not very interesting. Nevertheless, people here complaining about the writing and alike like it's some never before seen mishap by a renowned company known for dishing out banger after banger is just funny 🤣 The company is aimed at profit, and it won't be often we get a genuinely good story, but then again, it's not even that bad as people make it out to be. Let me tell you, there are GMMTV BLs way worse than Kidnap that aren't getting nearly as much stick as they deserve.

It is, but it's cool, I love it
I have to admit, the hiccup scene at the end of ep1 was cute af 😂 It's not that bad, honestly, it's just that I'm getting sick of the overused and poorly executed premise of international romance..
On Eccentric Romance Oct 10, 2024
The first episode hasn't loaded for me yet, but if it's another one of those "I'll speak in X language, you speak in Y language, and we pretend we understand each other" istg..
On Sangmin Dinneaw Oct 9, 2024
The international romance is such an interesting premise and has so much potential for themes like 'learning language for the one you like', 'exploring cultural differences', 'learning about each other's culture', 'long distance relationship ', and others. Usually though, it just becomes a cringy 'I will talk to you in my language, you will talk to me in yours, and we'll pretend we understand each other'. Hopefully, this isn't the case here.

This series is so fucking weird, like... I don't know if I'm watching a comedy, drama, social commentary, countryside drama, coming-of-age, or whatever the fuck else. Everything is so over-the-top, unrealistic, and ridiculous... there is no way I should be enjoying this much 🤣
