Enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to. The court cases after the first 3-4 episodes were boring as hell and I felt like most of the conflicts just happened to happen but good show.
this was the second kdrama I've watched and now I just one of my comfort shows that I watch every now and then. I suggest y'all read the webtoon because it went way more into depth with all the characters.
My thoughts exactly on LJG. I really wanted him to play in something darker again after loving his performance in flower of evil. once I saw that he'd be playing a lawyer again in this I was kind of like, been there done that already. I wouldn't strike him as the type of actor that would do two dramas that are very similar in terms of themes as well as character background. Maybe he resorted to this project because the other scripts he received weren't interesting enough or he chose to play it safe before his best drama that will knock us out of the park.
I ended up dropping after the first half but I do agree with some of your comments. I really wanted to like this one. I loved LJG in flower of evil and a few months ago I watched lawless lawyer so I couldn't wait for his next project. I was a little surprised that he chose a role where he'd be playing a lawyer again. The script for this is way different from LL but the lawyer correlation bothered me a little. I saw no solid trace of LJK's character from LL which goes to show he can play similar roles and still make the characters unique to the show. but sadly he wasn't enough to make me finish this thing. idk if it's because I wasn't really paying attention but after the first episode I got super bored and found myself skipping. Maybe I might rewatch it from the beginning another time and see if it clicks but for now it is dropped.
I've seen the original so I wasn't really thrilled about a Korean remake. I'll tune in tho out of curiosity and because I like two of the actors involved.
I actively avoid Historical dramas but this is the 1st one I've watched and actually finished and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. I agree with some of the popular criticisms and it definitely did get draggy in the middle but those first two episodes made watching it to the end worth it. Ngl I was expecting a sad ending but the ending we did get was so incredibly satisfactory. And wow those child actors in the first episode were great.
Omg finally someone who likes Do San! I also love the way he's written. He's so cute and awkward and unsure but I find it realistic and endearing. He IS the smart guy everyone thinks he is, he just lacks confidence and be doesn't trust himself to follow through. I think he relied on Ji-pyeong a little too much, and his character has flaws of course, but he is a good character, at least to me
