Do people not get tired of seeing the same "hot, cold, demon-like" type of character as the male lead over and…
I do, but i am still watching....there is not much what we can do about it....Mi Chinese friends, living in China told me that audiences there always raise their concerns about the lack of originality in this type of drama.

The previews for eps 14 & 15! I am going to die. Sunday come faster! The chemistry! The acting! The emotions portrayed…
I hope so because I am the one that thinks the main CP chemistry is not yielding and while I found Rui Peng visually astonishing in this role he has just about lifted an eyebrow in 8 episodes that I have watched. I have never seen his acting before, but I have the impression that in other roles, like spy period dramas he would shine. He has that kind of demure about it.

Ep 7 Some of the characters in this series are unbearable, how people are coping is beyond me. That turtle guy I just fast-forwarded furiously. This is not for me, I am finding it boring. I have watched so many dramas by Bai Lu and this is not a fresher version of herself, I guess most fans would like to see her doing the same over and over again. Same expressions, same mannerisms, same "jokes", she is a good comedian but something is not yielding for me in the overall presentation. I am glad that I am not the only one with this opinion based on the comments below. The most interesting characters are Chong Zhao and Fu Ling but their development is not coming fast enough.

We need to wait and see what has happened to these two in those years. For once he managed to have a successful career as a vet and on the shallow part he lost weight! Let's not underestimate those big changes. We don't know if he dated other girls but it did not work out. Some k dramas bring that premise. Love Next Door is one of those. I have not read the novel so I don't know if he went out with somebody else. On a connected subject, BLs genre typical premise is that they can wait for years for that person they love in the past. This is what it makes them so romantic and popular. It def a recipe that works with most viewers. obviously you don't enjoy it.

I think Korean writer don't know the word "Move -on" . I don't get it how can someone be this delusional to wait…
What a visceral reaction! It happens in reality. I know one older man and two older ladies who rekindled their first love romance decades later. The man re encounter his first love when he became a widower in his 50s. One of the ladies re-kindle his first love in his 60s and the other one in her 30s. In two different countries and from three completely different backgrounds. The fact that people change and evolve as the years pass does not mean that they won't like their older selves in the future. They are also the uncountable cases people marrying their first love (is not Ed Sheeran the singer-songwriter one of those?) There are also many cases of those who did not like each other when young but met years later and fell in love later in life.. it is not a first love but a very close match if you ask me.

For those questioning what mixed-race background she has, in the novel it is mentioned one of the parents of the mother was from the US, not more info is given. I cannot wait for ep 2!!!!

I am glad you made this observation about Bai Lu performance. i am a great follower of her work, having watched most of her dramas but there is nothing that move me in her performance here is very so so. I am watching for the secondary leads.
On Motel California Jan 10, 2025
Few minutes into the first episode and we have the sweetest scene of any k drama. I could not think of any better actors to play the leads. This is going to be a total treat!!! Don't miss it
On Moonlight Mystique Jan 10, 2025
Chang Hua Sen as Zhao is amazing. This young actor is so multilayer his performances are always very moving. I don't know what it takes to be a central ML in China but if it is based on acting qualities he has it all (at the moment he has only reached secondary lead). His CP in this series, Dai Lu Wa, is a very good match for him because the contrasting personalities of their characters are really well portrayed by both of them. They are my favorites and the reason why this series is keeping my interest so far.

It's not the same, and xianxia are all have similar lines sometimes if you watch more xianxias you will know that…
I think I have watched too many xianxias!!! and I can recite the lines of some of them! I feel a bit overwhelmed by the initial setting. My Chinese friends who live in China (important) have told me that audiences are a bit bored of the repetitive nature of xianxias/costume dramas. They are always voicing their concerns about it. I like the male and female actors here. Maybe I need to give it a rest and come back later to it as not long ago I finished my 4th rewatching of TTEOTM.

the character of Li'an improves in ep 19. Actually it's a reset point for her. Take into account that romance…
In China only hetero romances are acknowledged as romance. BLs are forbidden and bromances are seriously curtailed nowadays. Some dramas include an unnecesary piece of romance in order to sell it to the censors.

Still ff her scenes as at ep 23, yes the character has improved allot however just not necessary in the whole…
Totally agree

Good point if hetero romance attract viewers and money in China it would be included

So many times a good Chinese series is spoiled for a silly piece of romance. This is one typical case. Idk if it is because they are obsessed with hetero agendas.

This series started with a bang, Dylan Wang at his best. Since the silly FL fake grand princess appeared, watching it has becoming burdensome. For given her character screen time we are losing the other characters times, which are superior. I have been forwarding all her parts but watching something this way is tiring. I will persevere hopefully it will improve. I am in ep 11

Could I be totally shallow and ask if the lovely young CP of Will love in Spring have any scene together here? (Du Lan and Mark Ma)
On Flourished Peony Jan 8, 2025
I am loving this. This is my first Yang Zi drama, I really don't watch Chinese modern romance dramas so I missed most of her work. Contradictorily, the only modern dramas I have watched had Li Xian and Miles Wei as MLs and left such an impression on me for the quality of their performances (if you have not seen Li Xian's Will Love in Spring, you are really missing a piece of art. His partnership with Yu Tong was super). What a surprise to discover that Yang Zi apart from looking so beautiful here is also a great actor. So far, a very rewarding watching experience

Title Blue Complex
Does anyone feel that the CP should have been Jung Hun character (Taemin) and his friend with benefits (I don't think we knew his name!?) The chemistry of these two while kissing in the bathroom was amazing, lovely visuals together, it was the only rewarding part of this unconvincing BL. We only came to see them together again, in a few seconds when this friend showed his pain due to Taemin's dismissive attitude. I think they both delivered. I did not like Ho Jung performance, did not match Jung Hun energy, he looked better next to Jae Hoon who resemblences more the dog in his other BL. Very so so

Really? Ouch. Seriously? They put this drama head to head with Yang Zi's Flourished Peony 🥲 please no fanwars…
What are you even comparing them? ?!! I watch Bai Lu dramas often but I have never watched a Yang Zi one, not intentionally, maybe I prefer the storyline of Bai Lu dramas. Bai Lu is also one of those actor that create chemistry with most of her CPs which is rare. Maybe Zhao Lusi is another FL who also matches well with all her CPs but they are the exception rather than the rule.
