All the gang of friends died, though it is hinted that ML survived with Ruyi a had two children but we are never shown their happy ending. so let's say it is a kind of happy ending for the main CP. I hate sad endings but this series is so worthy to be watched that I highly recommend it.

The only worthy episodes of My Journey to You were those moments showing the romance of Chen Lui and Lu Xi Xao characters (secondary couple) I fast-forwarded to their parts. They were thrilling to watch despite we were never shown not even a kiss though they became lovers. With reason, Harpers Bazaar only called them for a special photoshoot as CP.

Agree there were flaws in the storyline, I guess for the directors the episode when they discovered the edict written in the Wu flag was enough to tick that box. I also don't like unnecessary melodrama. Q trying to kill the Emperor for the death of his younger brother is stupid, they were L Hall where they risked their life all the time they could die at any moment. That was a total disrespect to anybody who risked their life to rescue the Emperor. Another point is Lu Shi Shan refusal to give a hug to Chen Yue (princess) or get together with her some way when He really liked her in a special way it is also an exaggerated point. Leaked photos from the scenes hinted that directors changed their mind about this couple and gave them a sad ending for the sake of it. Having said that I still think this is an excellent series that I highly recommend people to watch.

I agree with you about the main CP but I think the second CP was special and brought the best out of each other, until that point neither Cheng Lei nor Lu Yu Xia had a CP that supported them that way. This is what a good acting partnership is about. That pool scene was something else, no physical touch and people went crazy for them.

Stop in ep 34, when they managed to escape with the Emperor that was imprisoned is when very sad things happen, having said that the end of the series (the last seconds!) hints to a happy ending for the main CP but we never see it, it is implied. In all honesty I fast forwarded all the melodrama in the last 4 eps. I only watch the rewarding scenes. but please watch it with confidence until ep 34, the chemistry and sassiness of the main CP is fabulous.

Exactly, they were in the original poster standing side by side, and also in the first interviews they were attending with the main CP. Maybe they did not want to repeat what happened with My Journey to You in which the secondary couple made up of Cheng Lei/Lu Yu Xiao became the most popular and opaque Esther Yu and Zhang Linghe, so much that they were the ones called by Harpers Bazaar for an special edition photoshoot. I doubt it this would have happened here as the main CP was so powerful super acting, bounds of chemistry, fab visuals.

During these series, there have been non-official previews in YouTube probably from people in set taking photos/filming and Yu Shi Shan and Chen Yue (princess) have other scenes in which they hugged back in base (not on the battlefield) with his army clothes. It is well known that directors in China film alternative endings. We have known this before with other series one big example is The Untamed, in the first cut of the series, the end showed the CP on the waterfall reunited and happy smiling at each other. This is the version that was shown in Japan. However, in China was shown with a different less rewarding ending. Unfortunately, this edition was sold to international streaming services.

I know it sounds like an awful amount of episodes but in this case, because the leads are so enchanting you just want to keep watching! You feel their love and longing from the first scene it is so moving.
