I actually would recommend this one as your first C Drama because it is very good and has a wide range of characters and three couples. A lighter one would be a New Life begins by the FL here. It is more a comedy but the ML is also really good there. There are lots, it all depends what you are looking for. China has also been famous for its bromances. If you like beautiful male leads one try The Untamed. The Spirealm has very good reputation too. I have not watched it myself.

I felt the same when I knew the casting, so I am not sure if the series is good that we can by pass that one, but if it is bothering you, probably would bother me too.

This has started with a low rate, is it because there are no many people voting or is just so so? Which role Davika has here? There was a controversy because the FL was a minor when she was filming a I think there is a romantic side to the character. I am considering watching it, but now I am not sure. I am waiting for somebody to enlighten me, thank you.

There were many moments playing Qi Min that made my heart race. Like, when Qi Min finally drinks the bowl of poisoned soup fed to him by Yu Qianqian, I was completely immersed in the character, and my heartbeat was at its fastest. I truly felt a deep sorrow for Qi Min.

"For me, taking on Qi Min was just like every other role I’ve auditioned for—I approach each character with the same level of seriousness. As long as an opportunity comes my way, I must seize it. So I prepare very thoroughly.
I usually read the script 3, 1st for the plot, the 2nd to feel the character, and the 3rd to fully step into the role. Then I go over the lines, and once I understand everything, I start designing certain actions or habitual behaviors that the character would have"

I could clearly see the shortcomings, and it was hard going from ep 30 onward, but rating a series is personal. For me a series that entertain me and moved me deserve a 10, as imperfect as it could be. There are other Chinese series that are rated very high and I fell sleep in the first episode. So I left no rating, because it would be unfair for those who decided to watch.

For me, there is a dreamy quality about it, particularly in the first part of the series. Such a sweet interactions between ZLH character and TXW (and her family!). I was not so convinced when Yu Qian Qian appeared in scene I thought it could create a triangle that I detest in fiction too, but no, on the contrary it "brought" Qi Min character with his overwhelming stage presence.

@SNAZ I am so glad you came forward with all your intelligent comments. When I wrote something similar I received so much hate, and this has happened with every single person who has dared to say they feel moved by the storyline of QM and QQ. QM, as I always wrote, does not have any redeemable qualities but in this fictional world his affection for QQ leaves, as you say, a big impression. And yes, some of us like our stories edgy and sensual. Deng Kai performance is outstanding. A lot of people agree with you but they don't come forward because who want to be bullied for interacting in a forum. This suppose to be a fun experience. we are discussing fiction after all.

Los votos aqui son personas que se obsesionan con los actores or las parejas. No hay nada que refleje un balance. Yo le puse un 10 porque yo evaluo todo en terminos de entretenimiento y emocion. A mi me gusto la series y me encanto la segunda pareja, el super malo con cabello plateado creo que es un actor increible y me encanta sus escenas con su pareja. Has escrito en castellano y te contesto en el mismo idioma pues si escribieras esto en ingles te acribillan. Hay gente horrible a intolerante en estos forums te lo aseguro. A mi me parece que todo el mundo tiene derecho a opinar. Yo por decir que me gustaba la segunda pareja (y no dije que no me gustara la primera) me han echado un odio que de verdad me he asustado.

I wouldn't say staged but there is the inhabiting of the character. It is a creation process that is recorded for the fans delight 😊 I never complaint about all those extras that we see. It gives the audience extra joy!

Deng Kai really deserved that recognition. He managed to deliver a multilayer moving performance for a character that has no redeemable qualities. He has all my admiration and I am very happy to see that he is finally getting both the commercial and acting sucess that he deserved.

So well said. He is an amazing professional trained actor that after 8 year of secondary roles, hopefully he will be a lead in top tier productions (he has been lead in short dramas). He is certainly getting the attention that he deserved with brand endorsement and cover of magazines.
