Neither him nor his CP are well conceived characters. There are not explanation/context for the reason they are feeling how they feel. None of the reason given in the novel can justify the hate that both feel for Omegas - yes Gao Tu also feel ashamed of who he is. I blame it to bad writing. it looks like the Sister Nong put all her inspiration in drawing the main CP, they are riveting and bring the interesting point of a relationship between and Enigma/Alpha and their vers relationship is a fresh air in a BL world nominated by gross distortion of top/bottom obsessed fans and writers.
