i feel bad for the parents, but i'm simultaneously annoyed with them for keeping double standards. yes, hye…
The fact that time is changing has nothing to do with keeping your culture or not I don't understand why must people relate culture to time change it's has nothing to do with what year we are, culture is culture :)
It's not double standard but rather because their expectations for Hye Yeong was a lot more bigger than it was for Joon Yeong. Hye Yeong was the child ,that they thought, will never ever hurt them or disappoint them... so her deceiving them to their face like that, Hye Yeong of all people, is too much pain for them to handle. They just never expected that she'd ever let them down. It just goes to prove that the bigger your expectations are the bigger your disappointment will be. I don't think it was about double standards but rather different expectations from each child.
The sisters didn't take her side or try to understand her because she "lied" and "deceived" them. It was Hye Yeong who didn't trust them enough to tell them. HY basically thought "It's gonna be a bother to tell them truth cause they won't accept it". I get why the parents are mad. She knows they find it wrong, so she hid it all and lied to them because she didn't want to be bothered by their views. She could've sat down with them and explained her own views. She could've explained her relationship with him, her dislike for marrying him at their current status, but also her desire to know how well they match if they lived together. Like she said, neither of their views are wrong, just different. She's a lawyer. I don't understand why she couldn't sit down and talk about the differences instead of ignoring them and only going her way. THAT is what she did wrong, in my opinion (the method she used to live with him). If you feel guilty about what you're doing, then yeah, you are doing something wrong.
The fact is, she did hurt her parents very badly and that's what matters now.
When you love someone so much and you look up to that person and have such expectation and blind trust for them... but then one day it all crumbles... it'll hurt real bad. This is what will happen when the kids find out that their parents were lying to them their entire life. That will hurt them BIG TIME as well.
The interview scene is really heartbreaking, I love the writer's take on Jung Hee's story. It's the first time that I find myself worrying so much about a character in drama from getting hurt. I don't want Jung Hee to ever get hurt... please :(
He is the definition of "versatility". Anything with Lee Joon in is a guaranteed "worth your time", be it 16 ep or 50 ep drama. I wouldn't miss a drama with him! I only wish the industry recognizes his talent as we do.
It takes a great actor to act like a crappy one inside a drama. Lee Joon, you're awesome. I keep falling for Jung Hee more and more each episode. I wish his sweetness was contagious! He even made a Kimbap scene so sweet~ >.<
Love the OSTs they were so fitting with this drama, very haunting too. LYA didn't disappoint me, I enjoyed her as much as I did over a decade ago. Yes the drama had it's pausing moments, but I don't think it was trying to be anything else than what it is, poetic and artistic.
i was anxious to watch this drama but first i noticed that the rate becomes lower after every new ep. then the…
Personally I hated every Kdrama this year, I'm disappointed in all of them except for this one♥ from start to finish it never once disappointed me. Therefore I suggest that you give it a try if you don't mind something 'different'. Rating on MDL are 'unreliable' and I'm trying to say that in the nicest way that I can lol.
Seon Jae's mother clearly says "ahjussi" to the murderer but the actor they used to play Jin Woo's…
No actually they use "Seonsaengnim" for any strange man and "Ahjussi" for a older guy (has to be old). That actor was clearly younger than her (Seon Jae's mother) so it sounded weird for me that she'd refer to him as "Ahjussi". They could've skipped that part because it doesn't fit. But I do understand what you mean, I still think it's a mistake on their behalf though :)
Probably one of the rare 20-eps-format that has wrapped up very well without dragging a minute. I doubt anyone knew where this drama was heading to as we were watching. Kudos to the writer!
Favorite characters >> Chae Ri & Bong Goo.
Outstanding actress >> Jo Yeo Jung.
Character crush >> Shim Jae Bok.
Memorable character >> Eun Hee.
Jo Yeo Jung, Ma'am you rightfully own the crown! If I could I'd present to you Best Actress Award in p.e.r.s.o.n!! Kudos to you!. I was going to write a review if there wasn't one that truly gives this drama justice but thankfully we have one!
Unpopular opinion, but this drama is such a waste to YAI's talent. I mean from SFD to this is a no no. It saddens me that this is actually his last drama before he's admitted to military. I honestly don't know what went wrong with this drama (for me), because it has YAI (an actor whom I love and respect), Jin Soo Wan as screenwriter (I loved all her work before this one) and finally tvN to add more uniqueness and quality. So what went wrong? I can't seem to get connected and it's getting worse each ep. When episodes feel 'empty', 'monotonous', 'tedious' and 'dull'.. when articles written about the drama are more exciting and fun than the drama itself... it's means CT is not clicking with me.
This year's K dramas are rather disappointing to the core. At this point YAI is the only reason I'm holding on.
Jung Hee is definitely my favorite character. Yes he has a lot to learn and his character needs room for development but he's very very sweet and innocent. He's really kind, I love his un-tained personality and even when he is self-absorbed, most of the time it's 'harmless' unlike the other characters in this drama. Lee Joon is doing such a wonderful job what a versatile actor! P.S. The grandma needs to tone it down, that arrogant over-the-top insensitive mean attitude towards Jung Hee needs to stop no person is allowed to put another person down I don't care if she's an elder one she's a bully.
I'm not happy with the way they are treating Jung Hee. I used to like the kids but now I'm a bit disappointed in them. They are not handling this well, they behave like mean little kids. I mean their father has been such a great sweet father figure to them all their lives the least they could do is not make the situation more difficult than it already is. They don't even take that into consideration? How immature are they? I wanted Mi Yeong to be different but so far she's on the same boat... and for the love of god no matter how hard I tried I really can't seem to indulge Joon Yeong nor his storyline, I couldn't careless about him. He dares to criticize his father for not mentioning that Jung Hee works in the same company as Mi Yeong, uhm excuse me you didn't mention to Yoo Joo and your sister about the fact that they work in the same company remember? This boy is really good for nothing there isn't ONE quality to like about him. He is the last person who should be acting mean towards Jung Hee really. I don't know how his character will develop but honestly I don't and can't like him (the actor is doing good job though). Poor Jung Hee I want him to get recognition at his industry and I want him to be loved :(
I reeeeeally wanted her to hit them with the car. How many more episodes??? o.O
Lol it did say "20" eps from the beginning. One more week and you can vent your dissatisfaction towards this drama through a review (which I'm pretty sure you will do) xD
So here is my own assessment to the title "Perfect Wife",
Jae Bok -- (Assessing her situation) All I dreamed of was to be the perfect wife and now look at this mess of a situation.
Ex-husband -- (Justifying his own midlife crisis) I have been a failure as a husband; but it is not like you are a perfect wife waiting for me at home while I have gone out and wronged you, either.
Saksaky -- (In her own mind, to someone else's man) Only I can be your perfect wife!!
Na Mi -- (Justifying her actions as a cheater) You were miserable, I will save you and be your perfect wife.
Lawyer -- Jae Bok would be my perfect wife.
Viewer -- What are these characters' motivations and flaws; and what is or is not the role of a perfect wife? Is it dangerous to even think there is such a thing? IF there is such a thing, who is capable? How far is it okay to go to attain and then retain that position? One more week and we'll wrap this chapter, yet I still can't form an idea on how the writer will end things. My experience with dramas taught me to fear endings because they could ruin an entire journey. So pls writer, careful. Ep.18 the one sparky moment between Jae Bok and Bong Goo is precious really. I love how he appreciates her.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for writing this! This drama deserved a promoting article. It's a good drama with well-written characters and features one of the best female character I've seen in k dramas (Shim Jae Bok). The acting is awesome, Cho Yeo Jung is giving an award worthy performance. I'd give her award if I could! We've finished 16 eps and not a moment of draggi-ness. The plot didn't go anywhere we expected it to go and I still can't form any speculations over the ending I have no idea how the writer will end it. Overall, plot-wise, character-wise and acting-wise the only drama that did not disappoint me in 2017 thus far.
As always I see a lot of displeased comments on the female character and actress but none for male characters. Woon Gwang is psychically and verbally abusing Sang Shik but no one mentions anything about. All I see is how 'overprotective' Do Ha is and how 'mean' she is to Seol Woo. I get that you guys love Seol Woo (and PHJ), I do too but let's try and understand Do Ha's prospective here. She is a devoted fan of her Oppa, and his manager. She clearly devoted her life for him and him only. Woon Gwang could easily draw the line and stop her from controlling his moves if he wanted, but he is fine with her being 'overprotective' obviously because he cares about her as an Oppa. It's not bothering him or hurting him in anyway. Now when it comes to Seol Woo, she has witnessed his odd behaviors more than once and being the overprotective manager she is, you can't expect her to be all cozy and friendly with him. I read the comments first before watching the drama so I was expecting a female character with a nasty personality but I was really surprised that Do Ha is far from that! She didn't even insult Seol Woo she just doesn't trust him and keeps a close eye on him. All she does is watch him, and interrogate him. Again look at things from her prospective, to her he's up to something so she is extra careful when dealing with him. I don't get why so many people are displeased with her, even Seol Woo is having fun with her and her accusations and suspicions lol. Just look at his facial expressions he's having so much fun. Also KMJ is a good actress and well chosen for this role, I’m happy for her because it’s different than what I’ve seen her in before. Why hate KMJ as an actress for a character? And what is so cringe-worthy about her hair cut lol it’s cute.
Anyway, that’s my personal opinion I just thought two sides of the views should be on this page. I love the way Seol Woo looks at Do Ha, only a woman like Do Ha can match up to him lol, he's been doing things so easily now he met his worthy opponent. I love their interactions and loved the first 2 eps (every second of it!). Finally let me just say Park Hae Jin is the Jewel in the Crown, he is the epitome of every adjective selected as a synonym for gorgeous ever written!! Seriously could he get any finer? His gorgeousness is too distracting, this is the best style I've seen him in *-*
I'm starting to like Ho Won. I love her attitude in the latest eps I sense 'life' in her and I love it! I also like the way Woo Jin gradually developed as a character. I only wish they had given more focus on Ki Taek and his life I really like his character the most. The drama is about to end and I didn't get enough insight on his character :(
