I can't comment on the novel, but I think the script/direction isn't doing either of the characters any favours.…
In the novel they are both highly principled yet compassionate individuals who are highly flawed and insecure in many ways. Here they appear too "perfect" lol I guess because Youku are intending this to hit with younger viewers but they missed the mark a bit because the storyline is too driven by romance rather than the moral ambiguity that comes with seeking revenge. We get brief moments of it but what the novel greatly captured was the feeling of emotional alienation, distortion of character, personal forgiveness etc I guess its too early to tell but its evidence so far that Youku never intended to give us those harsh realities but rather a cushioned version of it. I mean, they really downplayed the massacred that was so pivotal in the novel especially when they find out why the 80,000 soldiers had to die! The sense of loss of those soldiers was so great I honestly cried and the translation wasn't even great LOL
No matter how much I hate the direction they took with the drama, I keep coming back to support Reba and her drama. But I can't help hating how they are diminishing Anle's brilliance to shine some on HY when in the novel they are equally capable as individuals but unstoppable as a team.
I love their chef and aunty in the leads residence. I love the nature of both the female leads in this drama. At the centre of it all, they care for the people around them and are kind.

I always laugh when I read that Reba's female costars are equally enthralled by her like her male costars LOL They all end up having crushes on her too.
I hope our girl is healing and finding her feet. She clearly is talented but people are so malicious and for what? So there fave can continue to make sappy, one dimensional dramas? Our girl can come through it.

I prefer hearing nothing because that's how I know its not happening. I usually wait until her team step in but usually no noise is an indication of the rumour mill running haywire
