He also did Ancient Love Poetry and A Girl Like Me with strong fls, so I'm trying to stay positive. But Ren Anle…
Exactly, they need to stop writing female leads to rely on their male counterparts for survival instead writing them as how the female author had intended - capable, cunning, deviously dangerous and yet still flawed. I just want to shout that it's okay to not write a female lead that isn't immediately likeable but can also be respected for the traits that make her who she is. Honestly, im throwing hands if the screenwriter don't stay true to this.

That's what I'm worried about. While those FL were strong there were times where he purposely wrote them in a male gaze as if despite all their strong characteristics they still needed to be protected. Almost like the heroine was the catalyst to the ML's heroic arch. There were times where the females leads in Ancient Love Poetry and AGLM just felt wooden and one dimensional.
Regarding Di Zi Yuan and Han Ye, they feel like two birds of the same feather - no matter how much love there is, they wouldn't put down defences willingly because they know how capable the other is.
Like you, I want to bath in her glory and that electric personality. Fingers crossed,
Rightt.... Those were good times. I doubt that the precedent of this communication, exchange of ideas, fun over…
I think the best part was just how passionate we were about it. I remember seeing many commenters trying to come on here to sow discord and we were instantly like "don't bring that shit here" LOL good times. I mean how many pages can say that the comments were too much therefore a restriction was put in place? I don't think that many lol I am waiting for Legend of Anle. If that turns out to be a shitshow, I am throwing hands at the Screenwriter because his ass wrote Journey of Flower so I'm a little hesitant.
Also it's nice to see some of the OG's in this thread.
Me too. Finally managed to watch another drama without Dil in it but still keep on coming back to this page. Ahh,…
Honestly, this page really was on fire. Just the level of commitment and discussion that was happening was unheard of. We even helped propel D's MDL page to be the most followed female actress.
Those days are long gone. We have squeezed whatever we could from this wonderful drama. Will need newcomers to…
I doubt it too. This page really echoed what was happening universally with the success of TLB. I doubt I have the same motivation for another page as I did this one.
I'm excited yet worried about this drama because the scriptwriter was the same person who did Journey of Flower. I don't trust that man's ability to flesh out great novels.
This drama had potential but it just felt campy and utterly full of itself. Like 100 episodes of bad writing, execution and production was a bit ambitious.
Absolutely, I feel like this FL will more and more become the catalyst for the ML heroic deeds. Instead of writing them as equally capable yet stronger together, they will make her rely on him more. Yet another adaptation botched by execs
Did you finish the book? I couldn't, it is too too long. although it is the first time I was stay on for so long.…
Halfway through. I'm ready 4 books at the moment so I'm a bit slow with this one but will probs finish it soon. Yeah, she was much more capable in the novel.
You have to read the novel! She's an absolute gem. I am not sure why C-drama producers and writers make their FL's like. It's almost like their afraid to make their heroines actually be heroines -______-
Nope I am not a fan of her reviews as she's quite biased and rarely has any analytic insights into the dramas. However, if she did dislike the drama then her her criticisms are warranted. They changed too much of the lead actresses personality from the novel which is probably the most endearing element of the storyline. She's casual in demeanour but absolutely savage in her plotting. They really toned down her personality just to make her seem more relatable for audience consumption. They did such a disservice to the female lead.
Surprised that Zhang Yuxi is more popular than the female lead in Love and Redemption. I had a really hard time…
I guess it depends how hard your agency pushes you, projects, pairings. I think they are trying to turn her into the next traffic star. Defs has the potential, just her acting can be a bit wooden.
This drama was doing so well and now its fallen off for me. It's like they threw out all the best elements, characterisations and plot lines and threw it out the window. I'm only staying for Peng Xiaoran at this point.
Hopefully Jiuling's maid becomes collateral damage in the future.
She wasn't as annoying the novel. I loved her domineering spirit and she for the most part, was smart enough to read her Young Miss. But honestly, its like they took all the best elements of the book and threw it out the window lol
Let's hope Ryan Ding can pull off the Marquis's bearing. Something tells me they are targeting a more youthful audience. I will patiently await for it to air
