I like them as individuals and not so much in association with each other. I guess I'm too old for the kind Princess and cold hearted guard trope that audiences gravitate towards . But here in the drama, they are essential part in moving Changge towards the path she needs to take. In some instances, I do agree, Leyan was lost waay to long. They could've done more there in terms of that plot line

It utilises space and objects to heighten interest like the shot of the extra running across water to escape an incoming blade. And most importantly, the director didn't use the shaking camera technique instead chose to pan the shot with quick cuts in between to capture the fighters movement (Hollywood takes notes please, I'm tired of that nonsense)
