That moment when you find a list you like but realize you've watched most of the dramas.
Aha, I was going to come down in the comments to say exactly that. I think there are 4 shows on this list that I haven't watched, not because I didn't know they existed, but ones I purposefully ignored due to actors and/or story.
**Honourable shoutout to Sawan Biang for being a HARDCORE revenge plot LOL. Kawee killed the revenge aspect in this show so well that I doubt I can ever watch any remake or earlier version without comparing Ken's amazing acting as the sassy Kawee with his ready comebacks and one-liners.
That's interesting. Why can't they work together? I'm pretty sure I've seen Mint and Mario on Instagram together,…
I also think Mint doesn't get to act with that many A-list actors unlike Yaya and Kim. Mario is one of the few A-list actors she got to act with other than James (who was kind of a newbie when he starred with her to begin with and has blown up recently). I secretly think Ch3 heads don't like Mint as much and use her to launch a lot of newbies and start random pairings. I wish she got to star with Nadech, James J., or even Pope, preferably in a historical setting. And YES, a thousand times YES to the overused koojin pairings (ahem, Yaya/Nadech). I get so bored of them always pairing together to the point where I start to feel like one lakorn bleeds into another and all their characters just seem like the same people. Also I don't think Nadech has starred with many other actresses other than Yaya, so giving him new pairing might actually do him a favour as I loved him in Tarm Ruk Keun Jai and Lom Sorn Ruk. The only Koojin pairing I never get tired of is Ken/Ann. I don't know how they do it, but they have some amazing acting skills to always impress me with each and every character they have ever played together.
This is gonna be a bit / a lot different from their last story. In the novel however, the will be a case where…
Their original story is kind of epic tbh. I enjoyed it a lot more than Ten Miles. Its my favourite chinese novel to date. I've re-read it three times since last year. I hated how they changed their story in Ten Miles drama, but hopefully they follow the script in the novel i this one.
The episode are not full length, but are only 30 or so minutes so the show is essentially 25 episode regular drama…
I've put it on hold so far, the subs on yt are so bad its hard to follow the story. I'll watch on viki, but I hate that viki doesn't allow you to change speed like yt so I can watch faster.
Umm . .... I didn't quite understand the summary..... could anyone just try to enlighten me more ? ;-;
MC's sister dies and she decides to go undercover into a drug cartel in order to investigate. Ends up meeting the leader of one of the factions and through MANY twists and turns we see the underbelly of the ugly truth behind drugs and weapon smugglers/distributers.
Quite honestly, the english subs (the ones released lately, not the first episodes translated on YT) are hardly…
Wholeheartedly agree with this comment. The english makes senses, but the context of the subs is off for the yt subs. I would not recommend watching the show on youtube until the viki subs are released if you can wait. I was trying to watch the show on yt but soon realized that I become so uninterested because a lot of the political talk went over my head due to bad subbing.
I came across it's ost that sound amazing that how discovered but i really want to watch but no engsub yet ..
I never put high hopes on Chinese dramas I really want to watch since more than half of them never get subbed. Only the really popular ones or ones with some known actors/actresses get picked up, and even then sometimes some popular shows never even get subbed. I don't think this drama is likely to get picked up y a subbing group. Really sad since it sounds like a really interesting premise.
Definitely skipping this version. I used to love Tik in his older lakorns, but it's hard to understand how his acting is becoming more stiff after so many years of delivering good performances. As for Kim, I don't dislike her, but her acting range is not the best among the younger actresses. I also don't think she is very regal in her presence (she is pretty, but I'm not just talking about looks). LOL Joy is playing a mother as another comment has pointed out. Who did the casting for this lakorn? Joy in no way looks like a mother to a grown adult, especially Kim. Standing them side by side, at most Joy would only look like a slightly older sister if not the same age. Only person I might have watched this lakorn for would be Pop. He has been a surprising lead in his recent lakorns and I have been loving his acting, not to mention his good looks ;p. I would have preferred him as the male lead tbh. I think he can actually pull off the character better than Tik.
Dong Hua's character annoyed me in Ten miles of peach blossoms with how much he rejected her. Is it better in…
The book is way more intense, but in a good way. Feng Jiu originally goes after Dong Hua, but in her fox form, and eventually realizes Dong Hua only thinks of her as a pet and decides to put her love behind her and move on. However, things pick up when Dong Hua meets Feng Jiu in her human form and starts to take an interest and eventually chases after her. I liked The Pillow Book A LOT more then Ten Miles. I felt the story was more heartwarming, and Dong Hua is the ultimate hero imho.
If you like to read, I strongly suggest that you read the novel. I've reread it three times in less than 2 years, which is a record for me as I usually never reread book, or if I ever do its once in a few years with my favourite ones. I'm sure I'll reread the book again when the drama is released while I wait for subs to be completed to remember every tiny detail again.
The plot sounds different compared to the novel (probably for copyright reasons). I truly hope they don't keep Feng Jiu stupid and naive like they did in Eternal Love. She was not stupid in the novel at all, she was headstrong, but had a full personality to boot. I really hope the director/writer for this show keep the focus of the characters as it was in the novel, even if they can't keep the plot identical to the novel.
That aside, I will probably watch the show even if it turns out to be crap since The Pillow Book is my love child. I have reread that book three times in three years. In my honest opinion, it is better than Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, as I found myself relating to the characters a lot more and I don't think I need to explain Dong Hua as the major reason why this book is forever on my favourites list. .
Wow, this drama splashed without any sound. How have I not heard of this until now?? It's not being subbed anywhere as far as I know. If anyone knows of a subber taking this on, please let me know.
I would recommend anyone watching to skip the main leads story and just watch Shen An and Song Ning's story. That was pure gold, and drama at its finest. It leaves a very bittersweet taste in your mouth and although not the best ending, it was the only ending that could be had between those two people so at odds with one another. I wanted to kill Shen An by the end of it, and poor Song Ning deserves all her dreams to come true.
