This review is for both “One and Only” and “Forever and Ever” dramas but the rating is different:
One and Only
This drama is really a masterpiece, almost flawless, if it would not be for the poor acting skill and expressions of one of the most significant antagonists, actor Wang Xing Yue as Liu Zi Xing. The production gives the viewer gorgeous costumes, dazzling sets, great cinematography, a leading couple that doesn’t need intimacy to immerses the viewer and evokes beautiful, heartfelt, and sorrowful emotions that leaves anyone breathless even when a romantic relationship between them was forbidden. The action scenes are well choreographed and the chemistry among the soldiers and Zhousheng Chen is strongly fused by their sincere feelings and camaraderie. SPOILER ALERT: Even with the tragic ending, the drama is still worth watching! Enjoy it!
Forever and Ever (SPOILER ALERT!)
If the viewer is looking for a drama that has a nice romance feel but lacks intimacy, then this right drama. I would not consider this drama a sequel since there is little connection to the “prequel” apart for the leading couple, flashbacks that give the viewer a glimpse of their past relationship, a leading male that belongs to an old and establish rich family with a matriarch that simulates a sovereign ruler of great power and rank, a leading female that comes from a “noble” family, and some supporting actors that can be somehow compared to others in the past life. Although the leading couple is connected to the past, find each other and fall in love, this drama doesn’t capture the intensity of their feelings like it was portrayed on the drama “One and Only”. For “Forever and Ever” been a modern romance, Zhousheng Chen’s character is almost emotionally handicap with an unrealistic innocence for a man in his late twenties, even if he has spent most of his life been a bookworm. Although the Zhousheng Chen from the past does not kiss Cui Shi Yi, he was not passive at all! So, overall, this is not a bad drama, it is just a failed attempt to bring an everlasting and passionate love to the present times.

This is a very good friends-to-lovers drama. The actors did a great job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple has very good chemistry. Having said that, the drama could’ve spent some more time into the leading couple’s falling in love interactions than into how they developed professionally. Their emotional journey is really nice to watch. It is great to see that Xu Fang’s unconditional love and support for Lin Xi Chi is equally reciprocated even though she has been hurt by her family’s situation. Even though the drama has its share of cuteness, it is also an emotionally charged story that deals with the painful effects of parental abandonment and how it can bring feelings of unworthiness on a child all the way to adulthood. The drama works well in presenting the character’s understanding and love for one another, the aspect of forgiveness to become stronger and, at the most, understanding that “I will only deserve the best of you when I become the best of myself”. Even though the drama is not perfect, it is beautiful and entertaining.

This drama is a fantastic historical production. The entire cast did a wonderful job bringing their characters to life to bring about the story of Prince Yeoning from years before he became Crown Prince, under much controversy between political factions, to the time that he was enthroned as King Yeongjo and his great efforts to reform the taxation system of Joseon, improve peasant’s lives and education. This drama excels in depicting political struggles within the kingdom and the treacherous actions of some individuals; it has great action, some comedy, a slight but really nice romantic story, and stellar performances all over. There were many antagonists throughout the drama but the main one was Yi Tan/Prince Milpoong portrayed by Jung Moon Sung who excels as the tyrannical lunatic prince, a character that one loathes and, no matter his difficulties growing up, is difficult to empathize; but his performance on episode 46 is brilliant. If you like palace politics, intrigue, great camaraderie, and an incredible amount of twists, you will certainly like this drama. Enjoy it!

This is a nice romcom gender bender drama with a revenge plot where Tian Qi / Shen Zhao Er works as a doctor at Ji Heng’s manor to find her parents’ killer. Although it is supposed to be a romantic comedy, the revenge plot takes center stage and the leading couple’s romantic relationship developed too late in the drama to be marred with the cliché “is his fault” storyline. Although it is an entertaining drama and the leading couple had a lot of scenes together, the acting and chemistry was not the best. The romantic scenes could’ve been better but they were always cut short or angled that one could not see them kissing. The resolution of the major conflict (revenge plot for her parents’ betrayal and assassination) was not satisfying since the murderer killed himself and was not punished directly by Tian Qi/Zhao Er. Overall, the drama is nice to watch while waiting for a great one to come. Enjoy it!

This is a great fictional period drama mixed with historical facts. This is the story of Hao Lan and her struggles within the different kingdoms that led her to become the mother of China's First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang. The drama was extended from 45 to 62 episodes and in the process, it lost luster. The entire production (acting, cinematography, customs, music...) was done with accuracy and finesse but, adding the younger generation’s to extend the drama, felt short of the first part of the drama. This drama was mostly about the power struggles of three individuals (Li Hao Lan, Ying Yi Ren, and Lu Bu Wei) that join forces to accomplish great endeavors. These characters are complex and multilayered and the actors did a fantastic job in bringing out these complexities and creating memorable personifications of these historical personages. There are so many great performances that it is difficult to just select the three main persons since their characters were intimately dependent with a great array of supporting cast. Although there is a love triangle, romance is not the stronghold on this drama, which lives the romance seekers disappointed since there was a potential for a great one. Even then, it is great to see how Hao Lan accomplishes to bring down the people that Qin King’s grandfather laid out to clean the courts and become a great empire. This is a great production that, if it is not compared with others, it provides great entertainment. Enjoy it!

This is a fun and fantastic chimerical fantasy drama. This is a modern Korean interpretation based on the book Journey to the West. The acting is amazing! The cast did a great job bringing these complex and enigmatic characters to life, especially Cha Seung Won (as Woo Whee) and Sung Hyuk interpreting both male and female siblings. There is great chemistry and romance among the lead couple, the “frenemy” relationship between the lead males is priceless, and the rest of the cast kept the chemistry going. This drama evokes all sorts of emotions and leaves the viewer with a good feel. Enjoy it!

Royal Bethrothal(2026) is a romance drama set in historical times with ML: Chen Zheyuan (as Emperor Ying Gua) and FL: Wu Jinyan (as Meng Tinghui) in the leading couple's roles. The cast did a great job bringing their characters to life but the controversial issue is that, for a romance drama, there was not much romance between the leading couple. The male lead was constantly giving into this female lead that was not written with a great ammount of love, commitment, and compassion toward people around her but lacked the capacity to understand the male lead's love and desire to be together; once accepted and welcomed by people, her choice of leaving him amd her friends behind is unreasonable and on top of that, he is the one that went to get her back. The female lead is both strong and smart, her heart was true and steadfast toward her friends and her breaking moments in the drama were beautiful and poignantly performed but, as to the romance between the leads, it truly failed to be convincing. The male lead is also strong, smart, and truly capable, he also had a strong love for the people and the utmost deep affection for his friends, but he always put her as the center of his decisions without loosing his capabilities as an Emperor. The drama had great dialogue, costumes, scenography and well done action scenes; but the push and pull of the female lead's character made it exhausting and, by the end, there are too many unexpected and unnecessary turns in the story, that the ending was rushed and lacked cohesion. What could've been a great drama was lost by, more or less, nonsense in the last 4 episodes.

Title: Fated to Love You (2025) is a romance miniseries with ML: Wang Hui Long (as Feng Lie) and FL: Xin Fang (as Mu Qing Ci) in the leading couple's roles. Most of the cast did pretty well bringing their characters to life and the leading couple had a good number of intimate scenes but there is no passionate aura between them; the male lead didn't seem to be comfortable with the lead female and the female lead used a childish voice intonation that was quite bothersome. Although the male lead did better in trying to thoughtfully express love, it still didn't get to romantic warmth.

Title: Chao Jia Hou Ta Jiao Ru Gu, Zhan Shen Wang Ye Pian Yao Chong (2025) aka "After the House Was Raided, She Was Extremely Delicate (2025)" is a nice crossdressing fantasy romance set within a historical era with ML: Zhang Chi (as Prince Jing / Long Jing Xiu) and FL: Zhi Chunhe (as Duanmu Xu Qing) in the leading couple's roles. The drama also has a justice seeking subplot to redeem the female lead's family from wrongdoing. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple had good affinity and fine chemistry. The drama also has some quite funny moments mainly from Prince Jing's assistant Long Duan Chong played by Dai Ting Rui. Overall, this is a nice and entertaining drama; enjoy it!

The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple had a good rapport and pleasant interactions. The female lead is strong minded, resourceful, and possesses profound practical intelligence which the male lead highly admired, he equally admires her pure heart and kindness, As they interacted, and with full support of his mother and the household, they fell in love and became a wholesome family in the Marquis' household.
SPOILER ALERT!!! Although the drama was entertaining, it should have been given a bit more time to give the leading couple a proper romantic plot; as it is, they fell in love with each other but the drama ended just with that, no romantic scenes to follow after they got together.

Title: Professor Qi Borrowed a Marriage (2024) is a very nice romance story with ML： Wang Yiran (as Qi Yanjing) and FL： Zhu Moyan (as Wen Zhixian) in the leading couple's roles. Most of the cast did a great job bringing their characters to life and the leading couple had superb rapport, mature and solid communication skills and, even though there were no graphic intimate scenes, their chemistry was sensual and visually gratifying. This is a fated encounter of two people that seized the opportunity, got into a whirlwind marriage, and found healing, unconditional support, and unwavering love. There are inconsistencies due to the lack of legal intervention toward the second male lead, which felt odd but, there were supporting characters that did not try to justify the SML's narcissistic behavior and unlawful actions. Overall, this drama is well done and entertaining; enjoy it!

Title:Yu Chun Se Mu Wan Xiang Yong (2025) aka Embrace Each Other in the Spring Evening (2025) is a romance and family miniseries with Zhang Xuan (as Ji Han Sheng) and Fan Chuqi (as Song Fu Meng) in the leading couple's roles. The drama is really about Ji Han Sheng and how his family was completely manipulated by the adopted son to constantly berate him to the point that he loses all hope and resumes a healthier life without his family and former girlfriend. The drama has a good premise but the barrage of insults, lack of trust, physical abuse, and emotional abandonment that Han Sheng suffers from the people that he loved the most, was too much to handle. The Ji family was so loud and ridiculous that I found myself fast-forwarding most of their moments on screen. The male lead did a fantastic job bringing his character to life and Song Fu Meng, his arranged fiancé, was a strong and determined character always standing up for him, the drama doesn't give the couple enough time on screen to give the audience a tantalizing romance.
